'It's funny how you can go for a long time in life not needing someone, and then you meet them and you suddenly need them all the time.'

"Who t-taught you how to c-cook?", she asked, her head tilting to the side slightly in what I presumed was curiosity.

I couldn't express how proud of her I was. I know I've said that about a hundred time before but fuck. I've meant it every single time.

Just when I thought that she couldnt get any more perfect, she begins a conversation with me all on her own!

I know that to most people, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but considering all that she has been through, this was a massive achievement.

Focusing all my attention back on her, I gave her a smile.

"My mamma", I said, looking deep in her eyes, making that gorgeous blush appear on her face. I love how flustered got with me simply just looking at her.

I mean, who would be able to take their eyes off of someone so fucking beautiful.

"She said that when I find that someone special, I should be able to make sure that they are well fed and they are shown just how special they are", I said, watching her take a sip of water.

"I-Its delicious", she said shyly, tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

Thank fuck she liked it.

"Grazie", I replied, my heart rate calming down a little knowing that she liked the food I had made.

I hadn't made home cooked food for a while now as it has always been just me at home. I never saw the point of making all this effort just to eat by myself, but now she was here. I was so nervous to cook food for her in case she didnt like it, but it felt as if a huge weight was off my chest when I saw her eat half the plate.

Merda (shit).

She's going to be the death of me.

After we had finished our meal, her eating as much as she could, I stood up and collected out plates.

"I'll w-wash up", she said, standing up and picking up our glasses.

"You just relax, amore. I'll quickly wash up and then join you in the living room", I said, quickly turning around and walking to the sink so she doesn't do any more unnecessary work.

I didnt know what she was and wasn't used to doing before, but from now on, I'll do anything she needs me to do. She fucking deserves it.

I know it will take her some time to adjust living here and spending time with me, but I'm in no rush. Good things take time and I'm willing to support her every step of the way.

Once I had finished washing up, I dried my hands and made my way over to the living room.

On the sofa was Liliana curled up in the corner of the sofa with the dog squished to her side. I couldnt stop the smile that broke out on my face.

I feel like a fucking fangirl.

I don't mind being a fangirl for her though.

I quickly took my phone out of my pocket and took a picture before grabbing a blanket and placing it on top of them both. I took a seat on the other end of the sofa and took out my laptop to get some work done whilst she was resting.

It had only been around half an hour when I heard scared whimpers coming from her.

Her body began to shake slightly and she began to mutter things under her breath.

"P-p-please d-don't hurt m-me," she cried out, her eyes still closed and her knuckles turning pale from her hard grip on the blanket.

"Calmati tesoro, è solo un sogno. Sei al sicuro, amore mio (calm down sweetheart, it's only a dream. You're safe, my love)", I whispered, trying to wake her up from her nightmare.

Her eyes shot open and they circulated the room as if she was in danger. Once she had realised that she was safe and was no longer having a nightmare, she continuously began apologising to me.

"I'm s-sorry, I'm s-so sorry!", she whispered, tears spilling out her eyes in panic and fear.

"It's fine, my sunflower. I'm just glad you're okay now", I said truthfully.

She looked exhausted. Her eyes were bloodshot and her bottom lip was wobbling as if she was going to break down again.

"Why don't we go upstairs and try to go sleep again?", I suggested and she hesitantly nodded.

I held my hand out, partly expecting her not to take it, but she surprised me yet again by placing her small hand in my larger one.

With a small smile, we began walking upstairs and into the room she was in last time. I opened the door and we both walked towards the bed.

"Stai bene?", I asked her, wanting to know her honest answer.

When she didn't reply, I moved my thumb across her hand. She seemed to have come out of her thoughts and gave me a little smile, which I could tell was forced.

I could tell that she was still tired as she kept rubbing her eyes and yawning. I decided to go into my own room so she could get a good nights sleep.

"Dormi bene, girasole mio (sleep well, my sunflower)", I whispered, giving her a comforting smile.

"You can come into my room whenever you want if you need me", I said, hoping that makes her feel more safe and secure.

She looked as if she was going to say something, but she didn't. I gave her a questioning look but she just nodded it off.

Unconvinced, I was reluctant to leave her but I knew that it wasnt fair of me to stay in her room when she was tired and most likely wanted me to leave.

I went back to my room, which was thankfully only opposite hers, and took my shirt off, replacing my jeans for some grey joggers and got into my bed with a sigh.

I missed her already.

You only left her like five minutes ago.

Fuck.

Before I could think of anything more, I turned the lights off and tried to go to sleep.

Before I knew it, I was woken up by the sunlight peeking through the curtains. It had been such a restless night. I kept tossing and turning, wanting to go and check up on her every ten minutes but I knew that I couldn't.

Turning around in my bed, I had the biggest shock of my fucking life.

Lying down on the side of my bed was her.
