'Two souls dont find each other by simple accident.'

I'm going to kill those fuckers.

She can't even go to sleep because shes afraid of what her shitty father did to her. Who wouldn't be?

I would move the world for her and more but the only thing that I couldn't do is erase the torturous memories that haunted her mind. The only thing that I could do was offer her a fucking shoulder to cry on when she needed it.

She wrapped her small dainty arms around me and sobbed. My heart broke hearing her cry and it only made me hug her tighter.

"Hey, angel, you're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you again, ok?", I whispered to her, getting a small nod in response.

"Stai bene?", I asked her when she calmed down a little.

Of course shes not fine, idiota.

Before I could say anything stupider, she answered.

"G-grazie", she whispered, her voice sounding weak.

I was so proud of her that she was beginning to trust me after all that she had been through and was slowly starting to talk to me.

Still sitting on my lap, her head buried in my chest, I passed her a water bottle from the bed side table and unscrewed the lid for her.

She gulped down half the bottle and gave it back to me when she had drunk enough.

Her eyes began to close and after a couple of minutes, she was fast asleep, with me following soon after.

I must have forgotten to close the blinds before we went to sleep and so the harsh rays of sun woke me up the next day.

My legs felt numb and when I looked down, I could see her lying sideways on my lap, her head underneath my chin.

I really needed to stretch my legs and get the blood circulating again but I didn't have the heart to wake her up.

Judging by the small bags under her eyes, I could tell that this was the first time that she had slept properly and I decided that I would let her sleep for as long as she wants to.

I slowly moved my free arm to the bedside table and retrieved my phone, opening it up to see a bunch of missed calls and messages from different people, the most recent being from mother.

Looking down at the beautiful girl sleeping on me, I decided to quietly call my mother back and see what she wanted.

"Buongiorno mamma, come stai? (Good morning mama, how are you?)", I whispered, being extra careful not to wake Liliana up.

"Buongiorno mio dolce ragazzo. Perché parli così piano? Riesco a malapena a sentirti. Come sta Lily? (Good morning my sweet boy. Why are you speaking so quietly? I can barely hear you. How's Lily?)", she replied, obviously sensing that something was wrong.

"She's sleeping right now. She, uh, didn't have a very good nights sleep so I'm letting her rest as long as possible", I said quietly.

"Oh mia povera ragazza! Faresti meglio a prenderti cura di lei! È una di quelle brave, posso dirlo. Sta già tirando fuori il meglio di te (Oh my poor girl! You'd better take care of her! She's one of the good ones, I can tell. Shes already bringing out the best in you)", she said, knowing that everything she was saying was the truth.

"Sempre (always)", I replied, a small smile forming on my face as I held the girl of my dreams in my arms.

After saying our goodbyes, I hung up the phone and checked a couple of emails until I felt her starting to wake up.

Her eyes fluttered open, just to shut them again after coming face to face with the sunlight. She tried again and this time braced herself for the blinding light to hit her. There was no need though, as I used my hand to shield the light from her eyes and made sure she had adjusted her eyes before I moved it.

I loosened my grip on her, making sure that she was able to get off me whenever she wanted to and as easily as possible.

I thought she would see me near her and panic, however, she didn't. Her big, brown eyes gazed into mine and I swear I felt like I was going into a cardiac arrest.

The sight of her sun kissed skin and her bright eyes made my heart beat rapidly.

It was as if a switch flipped in her mind and before I could even blink, she was on the floor crying.

"I-Im s-s-sorry. P-please dont p-punish me. I-Ill be g-good, I p-promise!", she whimpered between broken sobs.

I could tell by now that crying was her coping mechanism, the only way she could show her emotions so I knew not to get too close to her and just be there for her from afar.

I got off the chair and joined her on the floor, my hand on the floor outstretched close to hers but not touching.

"You didn't do anything wrong. I will never hurt you. Te lo prometto (I promise)", I said, trying to reassure her.

Before I could even register what was happening, her small hand moved close to mine, so they touched.

I almost fainted.
