RIVER

I can't believe she's making me do this.

I hope she doesn't expect Davion to be alive by the end of the day, because she told us to do something fun and killing him would be very enjoyable for me.

After I gave Thia a ride home, she shoved me out the door and told me to go find Davion and Caleb.

So here I am.

In the pits of Hell.

Sighing heavily, I cast bitter looks towards the two b*stards eyeing me wearily. Well, Celeb is, Davion's being  d*ck and smirking at me annoyingly. "I'm going to kill you, twerp."

While Caleb looks legitimately alarmed, Davion's smirk just widens. "You can't," he says like he has some dirt on me, "Your little girlfriend would kill you."

Wrong move on his part. Bringing my princess up right now, I miss her like hell. After the attack on us earlier, my worry has skyrocketed. Which is why I gave her a little 'present' to keep an eye on her.

*Flashback*

Walking her up to her front door, I swallow thickly at the thought of saying goodbye to her. What if those jack*sses come back while I'm gone?

However, she doesn't seem to care about my concerns as she tries to shove me back towards the car, "Shoo! Go spend time with your brothers!" Of course, I don't budge, but still...

Already worried beyond belief, I desperately take in her wild black curls and bright blue eyes as she scowls up at me. "You'll call me if anything happens?"

Rolling her gorgeous eyes, she sighs in exasperation, "Yes! Now leave before I make you! I will literally remove you from the premises with my vicious guns," she threatens adorably, flexing her tiny biceps.

Unfortunately, this only reminds me of how vulnerable she is. My baby could not protect herself if her life depended on it. With a clenched jaw, I glance around us at her quiet neighborhood for possible enemies. Besides a twelve-year-old dog walker, no one is visible at my angle.

Fisting my trembling hands, I slip the silver necklace, that I planned on giving to her at the park, from my pocket and hold it up for her inspection. "This is for you, Angel."

My love for her multiplies as her face lights up with excitement. "Oh my gosh! Really?!"

I should give her gifts more often.

Practically bouncing, she beams up at me with gratitude and happiness shining in her gaze. "It's beautiful! I love it, thank you, River!" She lunges forward but ignores the necklace and lands in my arms, giving me a tight hug.

Returning her hug, I press a kiss to her soft bed hair, "Of course, baby."

When she pulls away slightly, I clip the silver chain around her pale neck, letting the small white diamond rest on her collarbone. But little does she know, behind the sparkling rock rests a small tracking device. Just in case.

*Flashback Over*

Nevertheless, the thought of not being able to see her has me unstable and touchy as I drive towards the shooting range.

Just because I can't kill them doesn't mean I can't make them sh*t themselves.

"Dude, just shut up," hisses Caleb, my only intelligent brother, hitting Davion upside the head.

Davion glares angrily at him, smacking his hand away, "Back off, wimp. Don't you realize that he can't hurt us?"

"He's our boss," bristles Caleb in reply, sending him a warning look. As if I'm not right here.

Davion rolls his eyes in annoyance, "Kiss up. You do know that you're older than him, right?"

"Fully aware."

"It doesn't appear that way."

"Appearances lie."

Sick of their quarreling, I cut them off, "Shut the hell up!" Gripping the steering wheel tighter, I pull into the parking lot and park before looking at their horrified faces as they take in our destination.

"F**k!" Caleb's face pales considerably, focused on the bold sign. Ammon Marksman Shooting Range.

Davion gapes at me in disbelief, clearly realizing that I could 'accidentally' shoot him without angering Thia. In fact, she would probably try and 'comfort' me.

I can see it now, my little angel hugging me tightly and telling me 'it will be okay.'

Unfortunately, though, if Ma was alive, she'd probably kill me with her rolling pin if I went through with it. Huffing in disappointment, I get out of the car, followed by my two hesitant brothers.

All the way to the building, they try to convince me that they aren't worth killing and that Thia would hate me. Which is still a sore spot for me.

Eventually, I punch them both to shut them up.

It works.

For about two seconds.

"I'm telling you, River, killing me would bring bad karma upon your entire life!" Davion decides to take the least logical rout, as usual, claiming I'll receive bad voodoo.

Caleb tries to be more intelligent, "Ma always said, that you can't hurt family, that is the highest treason of all! If you kill us, Ma would flip in her grave just to cuss you out!"

These idiots are overreacting, actually thinking I'd kill them. Believe it or not, they are a couple of the very few people I would risk my life for, and the only family I have left.

Not counting Jo.

He's a b*stard.

Annoyed, I shove open the double doors and enter the cool building, trying to tune out their blubbering.

"Hey, boss," greets the receptionist brightly, clearly trying to cover the fear shining in her green eyes. "Outside or inside today?"

"Outside," I mutter, grabbing my earplugs and goggles--despite never using them.

As we walk out to the shooting range--which is pretty much just a wide open field with various targets and safety signs--my two moronic brothers plead with me, begging for their pathetic lives. Content with their regret, I simply allow them to think I intend to shoot their *sses.

Actually, it's at least thirty minutes after I started filling the targets with lead, that they finally realized that I wasn't going to murder them at the moment. As they slowly came to terms with that fact, they, too, began their target practice.

Of course, I have the best aim out of us three, but they are fairly good, at least hitting the target every time.

Directly following our target practice session, we head to a little cafe downtown that our mother used to bring us to. Before she died, she did a lot with us, less so with Jo. Jo was Dad's favorite, whereas I was Ma's.

That turned out well, now we're enemies, each of us struggling to get better than the other. Ma would frown at this, saying that you don't turn on your family. But Jo never did listen to her, he's the one who started the feud in the first place. I simply defended myself...

Anyways, we ate before heading back home. Where the large empty house seemed to make me feel...more empty than usual.

Now, I sit in the living room before the fireplace, trying to distract myself from the aching pain in by chest by watching the news. I wonder if my girl is okay, is she asleep right now?

Looking at the clock, I see that it's one o'clock AM. She better be asleep, it's not good for her to stay up too late. As I think this, I grow more and more agitated.

There are so many things that could happen to her, what if she isn't okay? What if Jo found out about her and took her?

Becoming frantic, I fish out my phone from my pocket and check her location for the seventeenth time today. However, unlike the past updates, this shows that Thia is no longer around her house. Instead, it appears she's moving rather quickly out of town as if she's in a fast moving car.

Jumping to my feet, I sprint out the front door, my roar of outrage echoing throughout the house.
