Cohen's POV

He finally did it! He told Carys how he felt about her all these years, including the years that she doesn't even know about him.

He recalled the day they went to Disneyland together, where he bought roses for her for the first time...

Looking at Amelia dragging Carys into the candy store, he couldn't help himself grinning from ears to ears.

He saw that there's a flower stall in front of the store and the lady was smiling at Carys.

He followed Carys and Amelia and stopped in front of the store.

"Wanna buy some flowers?" The flower lady looked at him, giving him a friendly smile.

"No, I'm fine. Thanks." He said in a really polite way, he didn't want to be rude.

The lady was still smiling at him, she looked into the candy store before saying, "Buy some flowers for your girlfriend."

He smiled at the word 'girlfriend', it was clear that she was talking about Carys, and he loved the thought of Carys being called his girlfriend.

He turned to face the stall, looking at every flower, before he fixed his gaze on those beautiful red roses.

The red roses reminded him of Carys, she was wearing a wine red cardigan today, and it suited her very well.

That was only one of the reasons he noticed the flower in bright red colour, the other reason was beside roses, he couldn't recognize any kind of flowers.

"How much is this?" He pointed at the roses and asked.

"Depends on how many you want to buy." The flower lady smiled brightly and friendly at him. "Different amount of roses has different meaning, you can check this out."

The owner passed him a brochure and he took it. When he looked at it, he realized it had the meanings behind different flowers and different amount written on it.

He found the section introducing red roses and read through it.

1 Rose - Love at the first sight. The single rose, whatever its color, depicts utmost devotion to a single person.

2 Roses - Mutual feelings, especially if they are red in color speak of two people who are deeply in love and together form their own happy little world.

3 Roses - Stand for the three words in "I Love You", and seek to convey this very simple yet powerful message.

5 Roses - I love you very much.

6 Roses - I love you, I miss you. Speak of the need to be loved and cherished.

7 Roses - I'm infatuated with you.

9 Roses - Together as long as we live.

11 Roses - You're my treasured one. To assure someone that he or she is truly and deeply loved.

13 Roses - Forever friends. Also indicate that there is a secret admirer waiting to be discovered.

15 Roses - I'm really sorry.

"Do people seriously need to buy fifteen roses to tell them they're sorry?" He looked at the lady with a very curious face.

She nodded lightly. "Many people did that."

"I see." He put his attention back on the brochure, continued reading.

99 Roses - I'll love you till the day I die.

100 Roses - I'm totally devoted to you. Signify a happy union of two loving souls till death or till a hundred years.

101 Roses - You're my one and onlookers.

108 Roses - Will you marry me?

365 Roses - I love you every single day. Speak of a love that has remained constant and true throughout the year.

999 Roses - My love will last till the end of time.

1001 Roses - Speak of a faithful love that will live on forever.

"Wow." He finally finished reading all of the meanings. He never knew there're a lot of different meanings behind flowers.

"So how many you want?" She asked with her unchanged friendly smile.

"I'll have 6." He answered without any hesitation. He had his mind made up the second he saw the quote 'the need to be loved and cherished'. It'll sound like he was yearning for Carys' attention, needed her to love him and cherish him, but it's actually the other way around, he wanted to love her and cherish her.

"It'll be $45." The lady said to him and added afterwards, "Your girlfriend is very lovely."

He was taking money out of his wallet and didn't pay much attention on what the lady just said, "Excuse me, what did you say?"

"I said you have a lovely girlfriend, she seems like she really likes children." The lady looked into the candy store after taking six red roses out and put them on the table.

He looked into the candy store as well, but couldn't see neither Amelia nor Carys, " 'Likes' will be an understatement." Cohen chuckled lightly, "She loves children."

"What's her name?" The lady's gaze was no longer on the candy store, instead she was putting the flowers into a bouquet and was decorating it.

"Carys." His mouth said her name out loud before he knew it.

She paused for a while before continuing, "She has a lovely name too."

He smiled deeply from his heart, she did have a really lovely and beautiful name. "Yea, she does."

"Here's your roses." She passed him the bouquet of roses, and he knew Carys was going to love it, it's very beautiful.

He took the flowers from the lady and realized he hasn't paid her. "Thanks. 45 dollars is it?"

"I'll take 35." The lady said.

"Why?" He asked curiously, but shook his head right after, "You said 45 dollars."

"Well, special discount for young lovers like you and your girlfriend." She smiled and nodded lightly at Cohen.

He shook his head and waved a hand, "No. We don't need discount, it's fine, just take it." He insisted on paying the lady 45 dollars, and finally the lady took it.

"Thanks," the lady said slowly, "you have my blessings as well. 6 roses for cherish, I think you can do a great job cherishing her."

"I hope so. Thank you very much."

He was grinning from ear to ear, he had a really good mood at that moment, he was very happy, he was excited. He couldn't stop thinking what kind of reaction Carys would give him after he gave her the roses, all because he knew, he was in love.

-

He turned to look at her, trying to see how she reacted after hearing him telling her everything. He was too nervous he couldn't look at her when he told her. He imagined smiles, that he loved so much, appearing on her pretty face.

What he wasn't expecting was to see her in tears, and he didn't know what to do.

"I don't know what I was thinking," she finally spoke, "I thought that if I lied to myself, one day the lie would become the truth, and I'll be free. The whole time after I know how I feel, all I could think of is to hide my feelings, because, never for one second, I would know that you're in love with me too. What I felt the worst about, is you've been in love with me much longer than I am in love with you."

He wasn't anticipating that too, because when he confessed, he wasn't looking for answer, or for response, he just needed to tell her how he felt. He didn't know the feeling would be mutual, even when he kissed her, and she kissed him back too.

"I was afraid as well. Afraid that you might not feel the same way about me, afraid that if I told you how I feel, your answer might not be what I want to hear, afraid that you would hurt me."

"So the whole time we were both wasting our time by not telling each other how we really feel? Worrying about things we didn't even need to worry about because we just assumed that the other one wouldn't feel the same way, just because we're too afraid."

She wiped away her tears, and burst out laughing. "That's exactly what happened. We were fools."

"Yes, we were." He laughed with her.

The laughters stopped when their eyes finally met. They looked at each other in the eyes as if they had been separated for a long time, and were just reunited.

Slowly, Cohen leaned in to Carys. He could feel she was doing the same thing too.

Finally, their lips locked each other's. They started kissing.

This chapter is in Cohen's POV. I actually wanted the whole story to be only in Carys's POV but I think this chapter is better with Cohen's? What do you think? I hope you won't find it weird. Haha.
