Hoseok burst in to the room just as Taehyung and Jungkook ran out of the bedroom. Hoseok greeted them with a nod and threw a gun at Jungkook. The guards were allowed to carry guns when they are on duty or special mission but they don't normally have one with them inside the palace, off duty.

"Who are they?" Taehyung asked as all 3 of them ran out of the room.

"Don't know, yet, your highness. But they broke through the west side." Hoseok said with a meaningful look and Taehyung immediately understood the implications.

Makes sense, since the west wing was where the guards quarters are. They were here for Jungkook.

Taehyung forced himself to calm down and think of a plan. He needed two things.

One, he needed to get Jungkook as far as from their reach as possible. The younger guard is an exceptional fighter but that's not gonna matter much in a gun fight.

Two, he felt so enraged that he personally needed to go and kill those bastards. Giving a mere command and waiting in a safe place till it was carried out is not an option at all.

As much as he wanted to keep Jungkook within his sight, he can't do that and fight intruders at the same time. He had to make a decision.

"Are they still in the west wing?" Taehyung asked from Hoseok.

"Yes, your highness. 2 troops of army has been sent by commander Yoongi. I don't think they have broken through yet."

The intruders were in the west side and the kings quarters were in the opposite, closer to the east wing. Taehyung took a deep breath and turned towards the guards.

"Jungkook, Jinyoung, I want you to go to the king's living quarters. You two are join commander Yoongi's men." Taehyung said in a steady voice, but his heart was beating so erratically due to worry.

"No!" Jungkook voice came as a quiet gasp as he looked at the prince in surprise.

Taehyung looked back at his boyfriend and felt his breath hitch at his confused and angry expression. One look at it was all Taehyung needed to know that Jungkook is not gonna leave quietly.

So Taehyung did something that he promised himself that he'll never do. He steadied his voice with a deep breath and looked directly at Jungkook.

"That's a command!" Taehyung said in a stern voice and his heart broke as  betrayal and hurt flashed across Jungkook's face.

He knows it's a unfair blow but that's the only way to make Jungkook obey this command.

"I want you two to protect my brother." Taehyung added with a much softer voice. He didn't want Jungkook to leave with that hurt feeling.

Jungkook's face quickly took a stony look as he gave a small bow and turned to leave. Jinyoung looked at the prince and nod his head at the prince, confirming Taehyung that he understood his part perfectly. Jinyoung is to look after Jungkook.

After they both left, Taehyung looked at the direction few seconds before picking up his phone and dialling a number.

"Yoongi hyung, he's coming to you. Please keep him safe."

Taehyung cut the line and turned to Hoseok. "Ok, let's get this over with."

Yoongi put the phone down and looked at the king. "The prince said he sent Jungkook here."

Namjoon gave a sigh in relief. They figured that Jungkook is the possible target and it made sense for Taehyung to send him to the safest place.

Jungkook and Jinyoung arrived few minutes later and Jin immediately called the younger to him. He gave Jungkook a hug, ignoring the way Jungkook stiffened in his arms. Jin made Jungkook stand next to as they waited.

Namjoon looked at Jin with a fond smile. Jin always knows how to make someone feel better, without even saying a word. He just helped the young guard adjust his perspective. Jungkook was not banished here, he was sent to protect the queen. That's something Jungkook could understand and believe.

Namjoon was relieved to see Jungkook's facial expression change from annoyance to determination.

The fight was almost finished when the prince and his guards reached the west wing. Taehyung shot 2 people in quick succession and the rest of the guards followed suit.

When it was over, they had about 10 of intruders in captivity and about 40 were dead. There were few casualties from their side too.

Hoseok led him to the leader of the troops.

"Is that all of them?"

"Yes, your highness. No one slipped pass us from here." The leader answered with a bow.

"Good, take these rats to interrogation and-"

Taehyung stopped his command as both Hoseok and the commander put a hand to their ear piece. Whatever they heard, wasn't good news as the leader gave a nod and ran towards his men, barking commands and Hoseok looked at the prince with horrified eyes.

"Another lot had broken in to the king's quarters."

Taehyung felt his heart drop to his feet at what the captain just said. He mentally cursed himself for separating the young guard from himself as he ran back to the east side of the castle.

Yoongi got the info about the intruders at the east side only a few seconds before he heard the gun shots. It was too damn close and  there wasn't any way for them to break through the outer army units unless someone sneaked them inside.

Yoongi barked commands after command for his men and the army troops to get them in to a defensive strategy. He then escorted the king and the queen through a series of turns and bends, formally known as the escape route.

Teams upon teams were placed on route to block the intruders from following the the king and queen but still they managed to catch them. Yoongi guided them to a defendable place and he sent some of his men outside, only keeping few and of course, Jungkook and Jinyoung.

Jin was really scared now as he was never a one for violence and he kept a hand on Jungkook's shoulder. Jinyoung positioned himself close to them too.

The gun shots could be heard in various parts of the palace and it seemed the intruders have not won but some were pursuing while other's were being held back.

Soon, too soon, part of the intruders broke through the last line of defence and gun shots were heard inside where the king had taken refuge. Suddenly a voice rang through.

"Hold it!!"

Yoongi raised his hand for his men to cease fire too.

"We only want the guard. We mean no harm to the king!"

Yoongi cursed under his breath. They were in a tight spot. Although the fight was still going outside, they cannot be sure of the outcome of that. They might be very well on their own.

Jungkook had not yet figured out what the voice said when Jin grabbed him from his hand. He looked at the queen to assure him that it'll be ok but the queen was looking at him with a pained look instead. Even Jinyoung scooted close to him instead of the queen.

With a jolt, Jungkook realized that the guard they were talking about, is him.

Suddenly everything happened past week had a different meaning. Why Taehyung insisted that Jungkook stayed with him, why he was not sent anywhere with out Hoseok and even why he was paired with only Jinyoung.

Jungkook looked at the king who was looking at him with a smile, a smile that Jungkook couldn't return. He looked back at the queen who seemed to realize how the wheel were turning in his head.

Jin was absolutely terrified now, not because they might literally die, but because Jungkook looked like he's about to do something really stupid. And he held on to Jungkook even more tighter, making the younger unable to move.

"That's not gonna happen. Leave now and try to save yourself." Yoongi's intimidating voice came from where he was hiding and everyone's attention averted to that for a second.

Before anyone had realized what was happening, Jungkook had bolted out from his hiding place, disregarding the way Jin screamed him to stop and walked towards the intruders. Jungkook kept his hands over his head in a surrendering manner and his gaze fixed on the door.

No one got up from their hiding places as the younger walked towards the door and suddenly made a run for it. He could hear the gunshots resuming from the room that he just escaped from and figured that Yoongi and the others must be trying to stop the intruders from going after him.

Jungkook ran without really caring about where he was going because him only concern at the moment was to lead the threat as far away as possible from the king and queen.

He avoided the directions that the gunshots and fighting sound were coming and soon he was in a deserted part of the palace. He paused for a second to think of a plan but before he could come up with something, he was surrounded by about 15 men.
