1 - The Night Before

Charles had always said that alcohol was one of the many things that could ruin your life in less than a second. Heck, Jack knew that very well. He had lost his father to drunk driving at the age of fifteen, almost killing him in the process. That accident should've scared him away from all things alcoholic but for some reason here he was, hanging out in a crowded bar drowning himself in the only thing that could erase his stress - alcohol.

He motioned for the man behind the bar to grab him another drink, something stronger. When the clear glass was placed in front of him, he threw it back with no hesitation, letting the liquid burn down his throat like lava. He shook his head and slammed the glass back down. Still wasn't strong enough.

The man behind the bar finished filling the drink orders for the other customers before heading back over to him. He picked up his glass and refilled it like he had done a dozen times already that night. "Don't you think you've had enough?" The older man joked as he came back around with a fresh glass.

Jack took the glass, downing it within seconds before grimacing. "I can still see your face clearly, so no, I haven't had enough." The man chuckled and walked away to refill his glass once again. When he came back he sat the cool glass in front of Jack and motioned with his head to a group of girls sitting a couple of tables away from the bar.

"That chick has been eyeing you ever since you walked in."

Jack looked up to the man. "I'm not interested."

The man smirked. "You sure, man? She's pretty hot."

Jack had seen enough of 'hot' women. He was tired of them quite honestly. He knew that whatever was hot also meant crazy - and he had dealt with enough crazy women already in his twenty five years of life.

"I'll pass."

The man shrugged and went back to cleaning out the empty glasses when a woman walked up to the bar. She didn't bother looking at him, but instead turned her attention to the blonde haired Adonis who had his back turned to her. She tapped his shoulder, feeling as his muscles tensed at the contact.

Slowly Jack turned around, coming face to face with one of the most beautiful women he had ever met. Sure he had dated lots of beautiful women but this woman had an air about her that screamed that she didn't know just how beautiful she really was. His eyes slowly took in her body, appreciating just how long her legs were. He had never really been a fan of tall women but something about her height intrigued him. His eyes trailed all the way up her body taking in how the small pink dress clung to her toned body, making her dark chocolate skin even more noticeable. He heard her make a little cough as to get his attention. His eyes darted to her face and he almost fell out of his chair. Dark chocolate eyes stared at him, waiting for him to say something..anything, but he couldn't. He was to mesmerized by her beauty to talk coherently.

The woman shyly wrung her hands together as if trying to find the right words. "H-Hi, I'm Kaitlyn." She said awkwardly, holding out her hand. Jack inwardly smiled.

"Jack." He said simply, making no indication to reach out and grab her hand. Kaitlyn let her hand fall limply back to her side.

"Sorry for interrupting you, I'll just go." She replied quickly, trying to escape the embarrassing situation she had just created for herself when Jack's deep voice stopped her.

"Have a seat." He motioned to the chair next to him. She looked over to see her friends shooting her the thumbs up and she gulped silently before sitting on the stool beside him.

Jack watched her intently, trying to figure out exactly what she wanted. She was beautiful, yes, but was obviously not as educated on how to talk to men as she seemed to give off. He propped his chin up on one of his hands. "So what's a beautiful woman such as yourself doing here dressed like that? Looking to go home with someone tonight?"

Kaitlyn's face grew even darker if that was possible and Jack shook his head. Definitely a virgin, he concluded. He was about to politely tell her that he had someplace to be when she boldly stared back at him.

"Today's my birthday and I wanted to try something different. My friends convinced me to come, I thought I would have fun, but-" she trailed off.

"You're not?" Jack finished, automatically knowing this probably wasn't her usual scene.

She nodded in embarrassment and he mentally kicked himself for what he was about to say next. "How's about I take you someplace I know you'll have a good time?" He said, not waiting for her to reply as he stood up from the stool and placed a couple of bills on the counter. He held out his hand, waiting for her to stand.

She nervously stared down at his outstretched hand before glancing back over at her friends. They were gone..figures.

She shook her head and placed her small hand into his large one. She had planned on doing something exciting tonight and if going with Jack was her only option then she would gladly take it.

What the heck, she thought before taking his hand firmly and letting him lead her out into the cool night air.
