"Don't love anyone to the extent you forget your own self.
Always think first about your own victory before working to make someone else victorious."

..............................................

She was never the kind of girl who could hurt anyone with her words and have a peaceful sleep.
Nor was she the one who used silent treatment to hurt someone.

But after that night she changed.

She learned to keep her mouth shut when others didn't appreciate her words or pay attention to her.

What was the use of shouting when no one was listening?

What was the use of caring when no one asked her of her well being?

She was cleaning the utensils when she heard his voice.

"Do I need to tell you again and again?? I think you didn't take my warning seriously last time....."

"You dare call me again or my secretary or anyone related...I swear you will not like the consequences"

She refused to look up at him but she could hear him come to the kitchen making her heart beat faster.

It's been 2 days since that night and both were giving each other silent treatment.
She was determined not to talk to him when he hated her so much.

She could hear his steps stop just behind her and her hands started shaking from anxiety.

Why was he standing so close? What does he want?

But to her surprise, she saw his arm stretch over her head as he leaned on her to take out a glass from the cupboard above her.

His body was touching her rear and she turned around to escape from him.

But to her dismay instead, her head hit his chest as soon as she turned.
He looks down to find her looking flushed and angry.

Her eyes were cast down and her hands placed on the counter to escape his touch.

He lingered a little longer to watch if her silence was going to break today but it didn't.

He finally moved back holding the glass and turned his back on her.

His retreating steps were heard and she sprinted from the kitchen to escape his presence.
She was playing hide and seek with him for the last two days and refused to speak to him.

It's not like he asked her something but she wasn't doing her usuals monologue chatter near him anymore.

On one side it was a good thing.
His house was peaceful again with no disturbances.
But on the other her walking around like a ghost irritated him.

It looked like she had not combed her hair in the last two days and the clothes she wore were just so disgusting.
If a guest tends to come all of a sudden he will think of her to be a household maid.

Her loose jeans were too loose on her waist and thighs.
The tops she wore looked like men's t-shirts and not to forget her muddy black sneakers.

He hated those cheap sneakers of hers.

He has filled her wardrobe with Chanel and Gucci's but this girl was adamant to defy him every time.

It was evening when he saw her leave.
Her eyes didn't match his as she silently picked the car keys and left.

He wanted to ask where she was going in a hurry at this time but refrained himself.

"It's not my business"

Were the words he thought and continued doing his work.

Only when the clock stuck 12 did a little bit of worry started surfacing.
He was staring at his phone debating if he should call her but his egoistic side refused him to do it.

.................................................

It was rare that emergencies came but when they did she never refused.

It was a foggy night and the dog owner's house was 50 miles away from her house.

She had reached on time and given the necessary medication but returning was a big task now.

It was a red warning for the city as a very severe storm was approaching.

The deadline was 8 but it was 10 already.
She was going to get caught in it and there was no escape.

It started raining cats and dogs and the wipers were not fast enough.
A speed of only 10 km/hr was not enough but she was moving was enough for her.

It was a deserted road ,a suburbs of the city exactly with a few small shops passing by every half an hour or so.

It was no doubt risky and dangerous , the severity of the winds and intensity of the storm made anxiety to settle in her chest.

It was 11 already and she was still 30 miles away from home.

Her only wish to be to reach home safely.

Few minutes later the road was deserted even more with not a single soul or vehicle.
It was a deadly night and it was just her and her car.

The phone was rendered useless when it had lost signal a few hours back.

It was not like she would call Ashton if she was even dying but still having a phone with battery and signal was itself a relief and support in such a situation.

The trees were swaying with such a force that she wanted to just rush through them but then without seeing anything from the windshield she couldn't just push the accelerator.

Her eyes were focused on the road trying not to commit any mistake which will cost her, her life.

The headlights were the only illusions on the gravel as street lights have gone out because of the storm.

After 30 minutes of her struggles, the radio had also lost signal making the sound of thunder roar in the sky.

That was it.

She had slammed on the breaks hard due to her astraphobia.
Till now the radio was keeping the sound of thunder out of her ears and mind but now when it had turned silent.

Her biggest fear had returned.

And that also at midnight.
on an empty dark street, inside a car alone.

She locked the car and slipped down to sit in the legrest.
Her hands-on her head and eyes closed in fear.

Her body shivered with fear as another lightning illuminated her surroundings.

1....2....3......4.. 5...6...7....8

On the count of 8, she had closed her ears tightly with her hands as a loud clap of thunder echoed inside the car.

She consoled herself.
Assured herself that it will be over soon.
Soon she will be back home.

But all her attempts failed as she felt something crash on the roof of her car loudly and the tiny pieces of broken glass rained over her.

She screamed with fear but to her bad luck, no one could hear her.

She felt like her body has crashed on something as a throbbing pain entered her skull.
Her fingers moved towards her head to see if there was a swelling or so but to her shock, her fingers were covered in the colour of blood.

The little soul lost the little courage she had inside her.

Her trembling fingers tried unlocking her phone.
But the anxious brain had even made her forget her password.
Taking deep breaths and after 4 th try she remembers it.

To her luck, she could see one tower of signal and she sighed in hope.

Opening the call list Thomas's name was at the top and she dialled it without thinking much.

It was ringing

Her eyes looked up in the meanwhile to see the roof of the car fallen because of the weight of something.
Her only guess being that a tree or a pole.

"The caller you are trying to reach is currently busy....please try again later.. "

Tears were forming in her eyes as she called for desperate help.

The clock showed 1:10 am and she wished someone could help save her now.

Next, she called Rose and again no one picked up.

3 calls,4 calls she kept on calling but no one picked.

It was in such harsh times when she felt like all her life was useless.
She was born useless and was going to die uselessly as well.

Unloved was what she felt as her heart burned through non-stop tears.
Her sobs were getting silenced by the night as she thought of her entire life.

She cursed herself at her stupidity when she realised she should have dialled 911 instead.

Dialling it, it was immediately picked up.

"I ...need medical...help....I am stuck in my car.....on avenue road street 112.....I think something.....crashed on..my car...."

"Don't worry ma'am calm down...we will be there as soon as we can...just try keeping awake and don't move.....we have tracked your location.."

"How.....how....much .....time?"

"Ma'am we will try our best to reach asap but the weather is not very supportive...we are connecting to the nearest service location. It will take us 20- 30 minutes just please be-"

Elle had ended the call.

It was no use.
She felt she will bleed to death till then.
Her vision was going hazy.

She could feel her t-shirt turning moist by the wetness of blood.
She was loosing too much blood to fast.
The huge gash on her head was not going to stop on its own.

It needed immediate medical attention.

Pulling up her loose shirt she decided to place it on her head leaving her in only her bra.
But she didn't care.
Stopping the blood was more important.

It took just a few minutes for the white t-shirt to turn red and she cried in fear seeing so much blood.

It was her end she thought.

No one was coming to save her.
She was alone in this world and was going to die alone.

Her vision was going hazy and she had accepted death.

Through those teary eyes, she saw her phone screen blinking with light.

Not able to see the name she pressed the green button pulling the phone to her ear with her eyes closed in defeat and head resting on the dashboard.

"Where are you!! I am trying your phone for fuck*** last 2 hours and now you answer it!!"

"Ash...t...on?"
She asked surprised to hear his voice.
She thought this was the last voice she was going to hear before she dies and she felt happy that it was him.

Her breaths were coming short as her vision was losing its colour.

"What happened? Where are you?"
His voice has turned from anger to concern in seconds as he heard her heavy breathing on the other side.

She smiled hearing concern in his voice.
At least someone cares for me she thought.

"Elle? Where are you?? Are you fine?? Why aren't you speaking!!"

"Ash....I.....am.....insi..de....th..e....c..ar....pl...ease....save....me...I...I...my....my head.... it's.... bleedin...."

"I am near you Elle hold on!! I am almost there....just don't cut the call okay....I am here..... everything will be fine."

"Hmmm..."
She replied, her mind not understanding much he was saying.

"Just keep talking Elle .....keep speaking...anything....just speak...."

"I.......a..m....sc...are..d....it's too.... painful....."

"I am coming to get you... don't you worry okay...you are strong Elle..nothing can happen to you....just hold on a few minutes more."

Dark spots covered her vision and she had no energy left to speak.
The phone slipped down from her fingers as she welcomed the darkness.

"Elle!! Fu*** speak Elle!! Sh**!! "

With this, he stepped on to the accelerator determined to reach her no matter the storm or its intensity.
