Julie's pov:

As I keep glancing at my clock, I pace back and forth in my bedroom.

It's Sunday, the day of the tournament, and I am torn between going and not going.

I want to go, I want to see the boys and cheer them on.

But on the other hand, I don't want Ashton to hate me more than he probably does.

I sigh and lay back on my bed.

I hear a knock on the door, "Come in."

I look up to see my dad walking up to my bed and sitting next to me.

"Do we need.. to talk?" He asks looking at me while raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I'm trying to watch some tv but all I can hear is footsteps going back and fourth for the last twenty minutes." He says crossing his arms.

I let out a nervous laugh, "Who me? Pssh what? Are you sure it wasn't just... the air?"

He gives me a dumbfounded look. "I know I'm no scientist or anything.. but I'm pretty sure air doesn't make noise Julie."

"Fine.. things could be better." I sit up on the bed and move back until I am resting my head on the headboard.

"Wait, please don't tell me it's a..boy." His eyes squint at me and I can't help but let out a gulp.

"Huh? What!! No boys are.... maybe?"

He shakes his head and looks at me. "Julie, let me tell you something... boys.... I'm going to put this nicely... they are dumb."

"Wait.. but you're a guy..."

"Exactly, I'm a guy. Meaning I am smart."

Boy.. guy huh?

"I'm so confused!" I throw my hands up in the air at him.

He only laughs, "Let me tell you something Julie. I once was a dumb boy going through high school."

"Wow really?"

"Shush I'm speaking!"

"Okay okay keep going."

"Now before I got rudely interrupted," I stick my tongue out at him, "There will always be dumb boys in the world. I wish I could solve that problem, but sadly I can't."

I signal him to keep going..

"I was in highschool when I first met your mother. Well, more like introduced. You see, the crazy lady next door, Alissa, told.. threatened me to talk to her since your mom was having a rough day."

"You were scared of Alissa?" I start to laugh but he glares at me.

Alissa is like, one of the nicest people I know, and my own father is afraid of her?

"Look women are scary okay? You know how your mother gets." He whispers in a low tone.

I let out a giggle as he checks behind him just to mark sure mom wasn't listening in.

"Anyways, I was trying to find her, and next thing I know, I am being slammed into. I look down to see your, very clumsy mother, looking frantically at me."

Ah so that's where I got that gene from. No way I could have adapted this much clumsiness on my own.

"But at the time, I didn't know that was her. So I started asking HER who SHE was. I told her that I heard she was nice and I wanted to get to know her.

I was going on being the idiot I was until I saw a name written on the binder she was holding."

"Hah!"

"So, being the awkward kid I was, I ran away down the hall and locked myself into the janitors closet."

"Wait really?"

"Yep! I was so embarrassed I didn't leave until two hours later."

"What happened next?"

"Be patient young one. So fast forward one week later, there was this World War project. And guess who I was paired with.."

"Mom?"

"Correct, since we were both awkward, at are first meet, we just silently sat next to each other staring at our blank screens."

And I get my awkwardness from both of them... nice.

"Then out of nowhere, she just.. started laughing. And then I started laughing. We both just looked at each other and laughed again."

I gave him an odd look, "Why were you two laughing?"

"I have no idea, I guess we both were just laughing at ourselves in a kind of way."

"Strange."

"Anyways bla bla bla we actually started talking, became actual friends, I fell in love with her, we started dating, got married, and Wella!! Here you are today." He says throwing his hands up in the air.

I give him a questionable look, "So what was the point of the story?"

"Well Julie, boys do dumb things. Like me being afraid of communicating with your mother. But the thing is, us boys, don't think before we do something. Whoever this guy is, he probably just made a stupid mistake, and I bet he is regretting it at this very second."

"I don't know dad, he seemed kinda serious.."

"So? Take the risk. Whatever you're afraid of doing, you might regret for the rest of your life!"

"But what if I find out he hates me?"

"Then he just lost the greatest girl in the world."

"And how do you know that?"

"Because you're a Wells daughter, we're freakin amazing."

I stand up and hug him, "You know dad, that actually surprisingly helped."

"Of course! I figured you needed some fatherly advice" he stands up to leave but I stop him.

"Wait, so how come you said that boys were dumb but you're a guy making you smart?"

"Well Julie, I'm smart because I got to marry the love of my life. It's just Ashton's choice if he wants to be dumb or smart."

My eyes go wide, "Wait!! Why would you think it's Ashton? I-.."

"Please, I know the look."

"What look?"

My dad only smirks... "Trust me, you'll find out soon."

~~~~~~~~~~
I stare up at the building before me.
I don't know how my dad somehow convinced me that it was a good idea to be here, but maybe I should take the chance.
So with that, I open the door. The entrance area wasn't crowded, but there were a few people here and there.
I go up to the doors but I am stopped. "That will be a $5 entry Miss." The guy says.
My eyes go wide, we have to pay for this??!
Thanks for the heads up Luke.
I start checking my pockets, but no cash. I then take my phone case off and take out the twenty dollar bill that was underneath it.
I'm not the only one who does this right?
The guy gives me an odd look but takes it anyways giving me my $15 in change back.
I slip the change on my phone and put my phone case back on it before walking into the arena.
And it was almost like I stepped into a whole new place.
There were people.. EVERYWHERE.
I didn't know so many people came to these kind of things.
I'm not saying there were thousands, but at least two-hundred.
You might think that's not a lot, but for me, that was a lot.
Instead of the place being it's..
How do I put this..
Kinda maybe boring.. plain self, it had lights, and the once empty seats were now filled with people.
Most of them weren't parents though, I could recognize a lot of kids from my school.
As I look at the groups of high schoolers, I see a couple girls with these shirts with faces on them.
When I take a closer look, I see Zander, Jake, Ashton, Luke, and even Damien.
The boys even have their own fan club!!
I take my seat in the back...
Alone...
Near the concession stand.
Hey, I know I will be going there sooner or later, it's less walking so why not.
I look around for any sight of the boys but the team is probably warming up in one of the back rooms.
As I wait, playing games on my phone, I get more nervous by the second.
What if he gets mad?
Maybe this wasn't a good idea.
Is it too late to leave now?
But I spent a good $5 on this I can't leave.
Maybe a refund?
I can say that I was sick?
But I force myself to stay seated.
Maybe food will calm me down.
I stand and go up to the concession stand and pay for a bag of potato chips then sit back down.
As soon as I open the bag, the lights go dim.
An announcer welcomes everyone here and starts to talk.
But I wasn't really paying attention, the potato chips, I mean the 25% potato chips plus the 75% air was calling me.
Whenever he was done saying what ever he said, I watched as the rival team came out first.
There were applauses, there were boo's and there was the sound of crunching noises.. my potato chips.
The announcer introduces them first, announcing there names and what not.
Next, came out the boys team. I actually applauded along with the other fans applauding.
I watched as they were also announced.
I squinted my eyes a little to find the boys.. out of well.. the group of other boys.
I was first able to detect Damien, the smallest of all the boys.
Then, quickly after, Zander who was the tallest.
It was a little harder to find Jake and Luke but once I found one of them I found the other because they were standing right next to each other.
But no Ashton.
Seriously, why do all the boys need to wear the same protective gear? I mean, I know they are a team but still.
I see one of the boys looking frantically around the stadium like he was looking for something, or someone.
I watch him for some odd reason as I shove a big handful of potato chips in my mouth.
And at this exact time, we make eye contact.
It was Ashton.
Him, looking like his handsome bad boy self..
And then there is me, just shoved a handful of potato chips in my mouth.
I go by chipmunk.. Julie the chipmunk.
Don't I just look attractive right now.
As we still make eye contact.. I slowly swallow the.. crushed potato chips.
At least I didn't start choking.. that would have been more awkward.
After a couple seconds of eye contact, I start to feel nervous.
Is he trying to say that he doesn't want me here?
Oh my gosh he is!!!
He is trying to death stare me!!
What do I do??
I look down at my lap breaking the stare.
I refuse to look up until the announcer calls the first match, between Damien and a rival.
I look up to see Ashton no longer looking at me, but at the match, he's eyes trained hard on every move that was happening.
I feel like this is going to be one heck of a day.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter!!
Favorite part?
Do you think Ashton will forgive Julie or is he a little salty... like the potato chips.
I need to leave before I start to make crispy puns.. I don't think that even made sense.
