Xavier P.O.V.

"Amelia? Amelia!" I shout as I try to keep her awake, but she continues to slip out of concious.

"Where's the closest hospital?" My dad asks Blake's dad, Luke.

"It says up here take a left then a right and it should be on the right of the street." He says quickly as I can feel the car accelerate.

Chloe continues to sob and Aidan wraps his arms around her. She turns and her sobs are quieted as leans her head into Aidans chest.

"What do we tell the hospital? What will be our story?" Aidan then asks.

Luke looks at my dad with a panicked look.

"Okay. With her bruises and cuts we will have to say she fell down some steps." He pauses, thinking. "Concrete steps and.. hit her head hard on the concrete pavement." My dad explains.

I don't even listen to their next conversation as I mentally kick my own ass over how stupid I am to have left her all alone in her house.

If I had just stayed with her none of this would have happened. We would be in her bed, cuddling as she forces me to watch the entire Twilight Saga for the third time.

We finally pull up to the hospital and I open the door and run in without look to see if anyone is behind me.

I go to the front desk and the nurse behinds it jumps up once she sees the state that Amelia is in.

"What happened?" She says while frantically calling someone.

"She fell down concrete steps and hit her head on the pavement." My dad says coming up beside me.

The nurse nods and says something into the phone before hanging up and waving for us to follow her.

We walk over to a gurney where I set Amelia down then a hoard of nurses and doctors come over and take her away.

The nurse looks to us and says, "She's going to get a CT done and get checked for broken bones as they clean her wounds."

"When will we get to see her?" I ask.

"Not for a few hours. I'll show you to the waiting room and once she has an assigned room we will bring you guys to it."

I nod and she leads my dad and I to the waiting room then walks away.

"Where is everyone else?"

"Chloe is calling her parents with Aidan, and Luke is parking the car. I already told them where we will be." He explains.

Chloe and Aidan walk in and find us immediately. Luke had already came back.

"My mom will be here soon since she lives close and my dad will be here within three hours since he was able to get on the next flight here." Chloe tells us.

"What did your parents say?" I ask her.

"Mom is a mess and dad is in shock. I don't know how this is all going to go down once they get here." She tells me, sitting across from me.

We continue waiting in silence until Amelias mom walks through the door with Jason, running to the front desk.

The nurse points to us and her mom whips around. She walks over to Chloe and she hugs her and then turns to me.

"What happened?"

"Amelia was running down some concrete steps then tripped and fell the rest of the way and hit her head then fell unconscious." My dad answers for me.

Her mom nods her head then pats my shoulder. "I know this is an accident and I'm not blaming anyone. We all know Amelia is a bit clumsy."

I wince as everyone else laughs a little.

Three hours later

"Okay so we did the CT scan and checked her for broken bones and cleaned up her wounds. She has a minor concussion and besides many small cuts and bruises, she is fine. You guys can come to her room now and see her. She is still unconscious as this is her bodies way to recover and we do not know when she will wake up." The nurse tells us.

"We're going to stay back." My dad says, Luke, Aidan, Jason, and Amanda agreeing with him.

Amelias dad, mom, Chloe and I all follow the doctor to her room. Amelias dad got here about thirty minutes ago and had the same reaction as her mom.

Even though they both do not blame me, I just can't help but feel one hundred percent responsible for this. If only I had been at her house with her.

We get to Amelias room, and the nurse walks in and when I see Amelia, somehow my heart clenches even more in guilt. Her skin was pale and she looked lifeless as she layed on the bed, still unconcious.

The only color in her skin was the harsh blue/ purple bruises and red lines where she was cut.

Amelias mom broke out in a sob when she saw her and turned to Amelias dad for comfort as Chloe just stood there.

"I know she doesn't look like she's well, but she is. She just needs to wake up and then you guys can take her home after we do a final check up on her." The nurse tells us, leaving the room closing the door behind her.

Amelias P.O.V

I slowly open my eyes to a bright white light. That then forces me to close my eyes.

Then I hear a beeping by my ear and I have a sting in my hand.

I slowly open my eyes again, as they adjust to the light and look around to see I'm in a hospital room.

No one else is in the room, and I try to sit up but then my body aches and I just lay back down. I look around and see that the door to the room is open.

The beeping starts to increase as does my anxiety, and then a nurse rushes into my room.

"Hi sweetheart. Everything is okay! You are in the hospital because of your accident." She explains quickly.

"Can you tell me your name?" She asks me.

"Where's my dad?" I ask instead.

"He's just down the hall with your mom and younger sister. Can you please tell me your name?"

"Amelia Williams."

"Good. Now do you remember anything from your accident?"

Then the flashbacks of everything that happened in my old elementary school comes flooding back. This causes my heart monitor to spike again, as I nod.

"You're okay now. We just have to ask so we know you don't have any amnesia. Let me go tell your family you're awake." She then rushes out of the room.

I start to go through my memories and finally come to when Xavier was holding me in the car crying. What did they tell the doctors that my accident was?

Just then mom, dad, and Chloe come into my room without the nurse.

They rush to my side as my mom cries and kisses me on the forehead. My dad squeezes my hand and Chloe smiles down at me. They all look like they haven't slept in a bit.

"Hi baby." My mom says.

"How are you doing?" Dad asks.

"Everything hurts." I say in a whisper.

Chloe hands me water which I take and drink it quickly, my throat immediately feeling better.

"How long have I been out?" I ask them.

"Only for a day. They let your body naturally wake up, but no one knew when that would be." Dad explains.

"Sweetheart, what were you doing running down those steps like that?" My mom asks.

"What?" I ask her, confused as to what she's talking about.

"Xavier said you were running down these concrete steps then fell and tumbled down the rest of them and hit your head really hard." I look to Chloe and she nods.

So this is what they told the doctors that happened to me. Speaking of Xavier, where is he?

"Oh sorry, you know how clumsy I can be." I try to chuckle but just end up coughing really hard.

"Where's Xavier?" I then ask.

"His dad sent him and himself to a hotel to sleep and shower. He refused to leave your side and looked horrible, smelled it too." My dad says, causing Chloe to laugh.

"It's okay, he's on his way here now." Chloe tells me.

"Where's Christine?"

"She's at her home. You can see her when you get discharged and she can come over." Mom says.

They spend the next thirty minutes constantly asking me if I'm okay and me saying I'm fine. They don't believe it for one second though and I easily understand why.

Xavier practically runs into the room and stops at a halt when he sees me. He runs a hand through his hair, staying at the door.

I look over at my mom and she nods then says, "we will be right out in the hall."

Xavier steps into the room as my family leaves, closing the door. He walks to me and thats when I see the purple bags under his eyes.

"Amelia, I don't even know where to start." He sits in the chair mom was just in, on my left side.

"Xavier, it's okay." I cover my hand with his and he intertwines our fingers, bringing my hand to his mouth.

"No it's not! I should've been there. He kidnapped you only a few hours after I left! I could've saved you! Now you are here with multiple bruises, cuts and a concussion!"

"Xavier, what you did is what you thought would keep me safe. No one knew they were going to kidnap Christine and I so quickly."

"You do know that this means, I'm never letting you out of my sight. Ever again."

I roll my eyes, "you can't just sleep at my house every night."

"Watch me."

Two days later

A free hours after I woke up, the doctor cam in and cleared me to go home. Dad, Amanda, Mom, Chloe and I drove home. Mom and dad both decided that it's best if mom stays with us for a week as an extra set of hands to help out with me.

I was fine, but dad and I knew it would kill mom with worry if she couldn't take care of me herself and make sure I was actually doing okay. That was the only reason I didn't insist she didn't have to come.

With my concussion, I also can't watch T.V. or use my phone. This means I've been stuck in my room for the last 24 hours with Xavier, reading random books to me.

As he's in the middle of a sentence, reading New Moon, someone knocks on the door.

"Come in!" I say, sitting up against my headboard.

"Hey." Christine says, walking in.

I hold my arms open and she rushes into them, hugging me tightly. I wince and Xavier immediately puts his hand on Christine's arm as a way to tell her to let me go.

She slowly does and whispers a 'sorry' as I wave my hand at her. I turn to Xavier and roll my eyes at him as he holds his hands up in surrender.

"Ignore him, he's being even more overprotective than he was when all that stuff started happening with the Rogues." Christine laughs.

"How have you been?" She asks me.

"Fine, besides the aches I'm good. How are you?"

"They never really did anything to me except knock me out, but the urgent care up in San Fran confirmed that I was fine." She tells me.

I scoot over on the bed and pat the area beside me so she can sit down.

"How's everyone else doing?" I ask her.

"Everyone's fine, Blake hasn't left my side either. He's in the car right now waiting for me." She explains.

"Why didn't he come in?"

"Xavier told everyone to keep their distance so you don't get overwhelmed and get a headache and stuff." She explains.

I turn in disbelief to Xavier, and he avoids eye contact by looking around the room.

"Are you coming back to school on Monday?" Christine then asks.

I shake my head. "No, the doctors are making me take off from school until Thursday."

"Damn, at least you won't be out for a while."

"I know and I will be good for prom." I say, which reminds me I need to go prom dress shopping.

I tell Christine that Blake can come in too if he wants too, and he does. We spent another hour or two just talking before Christine and Blake leave.

"You can't be telling people they can't come over without my permission!" I say to him when everyones gone.

"Baby, it's so you don't get anymore hurt than you already are." He explains.

"No, no more making decisions for me. I'm eighteen, I can make my own decisions!"

He nods and I give him a quick kiss. "Okay, can we continue the book now?"

He picks up the book and continues.
