"This isn't a dream right?" I ask Chloe.

"Nope." We both walk into the living room and sit on the couch, Noelle laying between us.

"I didn't even get to go on my date."

"I don't even know how to feel about Aidan now. I mean what if he hurts me one day? Like in Twilight when the werewolf couldn't control his anger and hurt his girlfriend." Chloe says, looking worried.

"Xavier said that Blakes wolf would never hurt Christine because they are mates, the same would apply to you and Aidan too." I tell her.

"I just hate how we are told that we have to be with them now. It doesn't seem like a choice." I add.

"I'm not mad that I'll end up marrying Aidan, I could see he was the one from our first date." Chloe tells me.

"I'm going to go to my room. I want to facetime Christine and check up on her." I get up from the couch and walk up the stairs to my room.

Noelle follows me and jumps into her bed and plays with a random toy. I take a seat at my desk and turn my computer back on, and click on facetime and call Christine.

She answers after a few rings. When she does, she has a look that tell me, something is bothering her.

"Hey, how are you taking all of this?" I ask her.

"I don't know how to feel. I mean I really like Blake but I didn't expect to spend the rest of my life with him. We leave for college in less than a year, I don't want to be tied down here when I go."

"I know, I feel like now that I have to stay here, but what is here when my dad and Amanda move? I'll have no family expect you and maybe Chloe." I tell her.

"I always thought I would move to Oregon or Washington to raise my kids, I don't want to live on that property and have my kids go to Lakefield." Christine says.

"Same, I want a house thats my house, not someone in his families that I have to live in."

"Christine! Come down for dinner!" Christine's mom shouts.

"I have to go. Let's talk more about this tomorrow, we can go get food after school. Bye." Christine says.

"Okay, bye." I hit the end button, then go over to my bed and lay down.

I pull out my phone and scroll through Instagram and Youtube for about an hour, before I hear a knock at my bedroom door.

"Come in." I say, expecting it to be my dad.

Chloe slightly opens the door, "Xavier is here, and he wants to talk to you."

"What?" I say, sitting up on my bed.

"Yeah, do you want me to let him in."

"Umm, yeah." She then leaves.

I hear the front door shut and someone jog up the stairs. A little knock is at my door then Xavier opens it and walks in.

"Hey." He says, still standing at the door.

"Hey. You can sit somewhere." I tell him.

He walks over to my desk and sits in the chair, spinning it around to face me. I move to the bottom of my bed and sit so we are facing each other.

"I came here because I want to answer your questions and talk to you without everyone else around." Xavier explains.

"Okay.. well the first thing I want to ask is, how are we mates if I'm human?"

"No one knows. We have a theory that either you had a werewolf in your family or some other supernatural being at some point."

"Like a vampire?"

"No, only certain supernatural creatures are actually real. Vampires are not."

"Oh, I guess that's comforting. Anyways, no one in my family has ever talked about anything like werewolves or such before."

"They might not know, or it's a family secret not told to you and Chloe yet."

"With us being mates, have you known since we have met?" I ask him, remembering back to when we first bumped into each other at school.

"Yes. When you feel the shocks when I touch you, that's an indicator, but you have a distinctive smell that only I know. Our first encounter, that was when I realized. No one had known their mates yet except Lucy. We also didn't know you and Chloe were sisters when we came home that day and talked about how we all found our mates." Xavier explains.

"So it's just a coincidence that Christine and I are best friends and Chloe and I are sisters."

"You and Christine being best friends is a coincidence, but you and Chloe being sisters are not. If you have some supernatural being in your family, that applies to Chloe too."

"So with you being a werewolf and stuff, do you remember who you are when you shift? In shows, sometimes people can't remember or loose control."

"Yeah, I'm still in full control of myself and I know who I am and everything."

"What is your plan with these rogues, and what happens if they come and find me. They know where I live and go to school." I say, worried for everyone's safety around me. They could hurt my family or friends now.

"Well we need to find that guy and ask him some questions. What did the guy look like who came to your neighborhood?"

"He had black hair, and he was muscular. He also had a scar under his right eye to the corner of his lip. He was driving a black pickup truck too."

"Okay, we will have to look for that guy too."

"Now if you territory is so big, how many people are actually in your pack?"

"About a third of the populations added up. I think it's around 15-17 million people."

"Holy shit! You're telling me there are that many werewolves, just in your territory?" I was guessing a few thousand top, not millions.

"Well yeah, but a lot of our pack lives up north because it's easier to run around in their wolf form where there isn't a lot of humans."

"We actually are going to go up north for a little, so the rogues get away from you guys and not realize you are our mates." Xavier tells me.

My heart sinks knowing that none of them will be around now. "When do you leave?"

"Next week. Our uncle got attacked up there, and our cousins also saw a few more rogues up there so we think that they have their base near them."

"How long will you guys be gone?"

"Maybe a week, we just want to get a better sense of these guy. But we will be back soon." He tells me.

"Amelia! Are you home?" My dad shouts from downstairs.

"Yeah! I'm in my room." I shout back down to him.

"I better go I guess." Xavier stands as I do.

I go over to him and give him a quick kiss, to ensure him that nothing has changed between us. He grabs my hand and we walk out of my room and down the steps.

When we get into the front entrance of my house, my dad walks out from the living room. "Oh! Hello Xavier." My dad then shakes his hand.

"Hello sir. I must be going now. Bye Amelia." Xavier says, giving me a kiss on the forehead. He then walks to the door and opens it.

"Bye Xavier." I say and he then walks out and shuts the door.

"So did you guys go on that date?" Dad asks.

"No, but it's fine. Something in his family came up but everything's somewhat good now." I tell him.

"Okay. I can make dinner if you and Chloe are hungry."

"I'm not hungry, I just am really tired so I think I'll take a shower then go to sleep."

"Okay, I'll see you in the morning."

"Hey dad, do you believe in any mythical or supernatural creatures being real?" I ask before I go upstairs.

"No, not really. Why?"

"Oh just wondering. Goodnight." I say then walk back upstairs and into my room.

"Hey, what did Xavier say?" Chloe asks, walking into my room and shutting the door behind her so my dad can't hear.

"He just said that they think we have, or had, supernatural beings in our family. That would be the only reason we could both have a werewolf mate. Also they are all going up north for a week to try and track down more rogues." I skim over the conversation between Xavier and I.

"Well dad seemed clueless about it. Maybe mom knows something, we should call her." Chloe suggests.

"Do you think she'll answer at," I look at my phone and become aware of what time it actually is, "9 at night?"

"Might as well give it a try."

We walk over to my desk and she pulls the chair from my vanity over. I click on facetime and call mom. She picks up immediately.

"Hi girls!" She says with a smile. I can tell she is laying in her bed.

"Hi mom, how is everything?" I ask.

"Good! Andrew just started lacrosse for his school. How are you guys?"

"We're good, we were actually calling to ask you something." Chloe says.

"What is it?"

"Well we are watching this new show about mythical creatures being real and wondered what you thought." I say, making sure not to give too much away.

"You mean do I believe in werewolves, vampires, and witches?"

"Yeah.."

"Well your great-grandmother use to say that our ancestors were very close to werewolves. She said we had a bloodline of protectors and healers. I thought she was just saying that because you guys were little and to broaden your imagination." Mom answers, making me shocked.

I don't remember our great-grandmother ever saying anything about that. Mom also never told us about our ancestors being 'protectors' and 'healers' either.

"Like healers as in doctors right?" Chloe asks.

"I don't know, I'll have to ask my mom, Aunt Lydia and Uncle Matt tomorrow and tell you girls what they say. Maybe you can come down soon and rummage through all of great grandmoms stuff in our attic." Mom tells us.

"Yeah, I'll see when we have nothing going on one weekend and call you about it. Bye mom, love you." I say.

"Love you too mom."

"Alright, Love you girls and I'll call you back soon." She says before hanging up.

"I don't remember great-grandmom saying that." Chloe says, as I agree.

"Yeah, I wonder if dad remembers."

We both walk to dads room, where he is watching tv from his bed, with Noelle at the edge of it sleeping.

"What's up girls?" Dad says, lowering the volume.

"Do you remember our great-grandmom on mom's side ever talking about werewolves?" I ask.

"Umm.. yeah actually. She use to tell stories about how her grandmother and grandfather in the late 1800s and early 1900s were doctors and moved all up the west coast to help people. She called them healers because they were the best in the business." Dad explains.

"Did she ever say anything about werewolves?" Chloe asks.

"Not that I remember. Why are you girls so interested in werewolves all of the sudden?"

"Oh, we are just watching this show now and it's about werewolves and vampires and that stuff." I say quickly.

"Okay... well don't get too caught up in that stuff. None of it is actually real." He tells us.

Chloe and I share a look before saying goodnight and leaving his room.

"We need to get to moms soon, maybe next weekend, after homecoming weekend." I suggest.

"Okay. I'm kind of anxious to see what we find." Chloe says, walking into her room.

"Me too." I walk into my room, take a shower, and then get ready for bed.

Once I am about to fall asleep, I start to wonder what everything means now. It's crazy that Xavier and all of them are werewolves, but what's crazier is that Chloe and I might be supernatural too.
