"Quinn!" My mom called from downstairs. It was Saturday again, much to my delight. The whole week had been stressful, with Cooper always trying to protect me, Brandi's eye-rolling, and random pop quizzes. Yep, very stressful.

I walked down the stairs; I was already out of my pajamas, but I didn't feel too well. I didn't have a cold or anything; I was just on my period. I could use chocolate right about now. "Good morning, sunshine!" Breakfast was on the table. I smiled. I was glad to be spending a little time with mom. "I think I found a job, a nice one!" She said excitedly.

"I should be making about $720 every two weeks. It'll do for us." She grinned. "Wait, what job is it?"

"A receptionist, just for a small business." I'm glad my mom is happy. Without dad here, it's harder for her. "In celebration, I thought we could spend the day together." I nodded, "I'd love to!"

Spending the day with someone was great! Usually, I don't like getting my nails done but, she insisted on a Mani and Pedi. After that, we went shopping at the mall to buy winter and summer clothes. I had requested we stop at target because I had the worse cravings.

I immediately went to the candy aisle, scanning over each item. I picked up snickers, milk duds, skittles, and jolly ranchers. I hated sour patch kids but, they looked delicious from the packing so, I picked those up too.

"That's a lot of candy." I looked up with red cheeks. Andre Sander was staring down at me, probably thinking I was a greedy pig. He was wearing sweat pants, a white t-shirt, and his hair looked so lovely when left alone. I wonder what his hair felt like.

He cleared his throat, catching my attention. Without him trying to show off, it was like he was a different person. Maybe he also had a long lost twin. "And it's all for me," I said, trying to strut past him.

"Quinn, about what happened last Monday.." I looked at my candy than at him. "What about it?" He rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry." I could tell he didn't say sorry much; it sounded painful for him to get the words out. "You have nothing to be sorry about." I shrugged; I wasn't going to blame him for anything. Though, he annoyed me so much.

"Cooper is overprotective, and I'm sorry for that." He grinned at little, "I can see why he's protective." I rolled my eyes. "There's a game Wednesday. You should come." My mom made a disturbing sort of giggly noise. I wanted to smack myself in embarrassment.

"Quinn, is this, your friend?" I was begging to say no. Andre shook her hand and said, "Yes." She smiled brightly, glancing at me. "I'm Andre." My mom kept that same grin on her face. "Well, hello, Andre. I'm Victoria, Quinn's mother." He looked back as if he had to be somewhere.

"It was nice meeting you, Mrs. Skies." She smiled, "you too." He walked down the aisle before turning around and waving, "I'll see you later, Quinn."

Don't plan on it. "Yeah." I awkwardly waved.

My mom smirked, "did you get his number?" I shook my head, "of course not." She looked at me with a raised expression. "Why not?"

"Because Andre Sanders and I are nowhere near friends." I chuckled. My mom shrugged, "he seemed like a pretty good friend to me." I mumbled, "try going to school with him."

Once I got home, I helped mom put the groceries away. We sat on the couch for a while. She asked questions while I ate candy.

"How's school?" Mom always made sure things were going good with me. She felt like it was her fault if I wasn't happy. I don't know why she put so much pressure on herself.

"Good." I put a few skittles in my mouth. "Any friends?" I nodded. "Cooper, Ashley, James, Andy, and Anna-Mae." That was more friends than my last school. "Ashley, how's she?"

I shrugged, "no longer boy crazy, but girl crazy!" I chuckled. "I saw it coming." I looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "I did; I just thought she was a little curious about lady parts."

"Moving on, how's Cooper?" I shrugged. Cooper was annoying and overprotective. How's that. "He's okay, a little clingy but okay." I settled on that answer. "How clingy?" Mom asked suspiciously. "He hates Andre. I don't even know why. It's just annoying." I groaned. "Well, it can't be that bad; Andre seems like a nice person."

"Don't judge a book by its cover." She rolled her eyes. "I don't know about you, but I'm tired." I agreed, yawning. "I had fun today, mom." She gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I'm glad you did, sunshine."
