I followed Cooper and Lilli; they were in the parking lot. "Cooper, you're such an idiot!" I yelled once we were all in the car. I was in the backseat, Cooper was in the passenger while Lilli managed to drive. "I sure feel like one, Quinn. Believing all the lies you told about Andre."
"You had no right to punch him! I don't need you beating guys up and telling them to stay away from me!" Cooper scoffed, "I wouldn't care if it was some other guy, but it's Andre Sanders!" I was beyond angry. I didn't even want to be in the same room, let alone the same car with Cooper.
"Cooper, I'll see how terrible he is for myself!" That's the last word before Lilli dropped me off at my house. "I'll drop Cooper off, then come back, Quinn." I shrugged; I couldn't care less at this point. I was too annoyed to say another word, but the moment I needed Lilli, she was giving Cooper a ride home. Great, just great!
~~~~~~ Cooper's POV ~~~~~~
I didn't speak to Quinn at all the next day. I can't believe she's telling me I'm wrong for what I did. Trust me, I'm not half as bad as Andre. He's done a lot of shitty things, even I don't understand. He has a loving family, he's not bullied, the things he does don't add up.
I skipped school and football practice yesterday; I was sure to get an ear full from Coach. My duffle bag was slung over my shoulder as I approached the field where the rest of the team was.
Coach stepped in front of me, arms crossed over his chest. "Cooper, mind telling me what happened at lunch with Mr. Sanders?" He asked, looking me straight in the eyes.
"Nothing much." I shrugged and lied. "Really? That's not what the principal told me!" I realize there was no point lying; everyone witnessed it.
"I had to hear that my two best players were fighting in front of everyone from the principal!" He began to lecture. "And beyond that, you skipped school and practice!" I was honestly nervous. I was so angry yesterday I didn't think of how I could get suspended from the games, or worse, kicked off the team.
"Sanders!" Coach called Andre over. He jogged over with a smirk on his face. "You and Steed aren't playing tomorrow." He said sternly; I honestly expected this but, I'm sure Andre didn't. "You can't be serious?" He looked at Coach. I chuckled.
"This team needs me." Andre went on. I scoffed. Now, a crowd had formed, and the others were looking at us.
"By, the way Cooper, Quinn's a great kisser." The crowd let off several "ooh's."
He wanted a reaction out of me, I knew. And for sure, he got one, so I pushed him back. As he did the same, Coach blew his whistle. "Both of you are running until practice is over!" I groaned, making my way towards the field. Of course, Quinn kissed Andre. She's been with Andre the whole time behind my back.
Can't she see I'm just looking out for her?
*I realize this is shorter than the original, sorry.*
