Merry Christmas!! 🎄🍾🎅🎊

(🚨 Long chapter ahead 🚨)

∆~×~∆

I struggled to open my eyelids; it felt like someone had put bricks on them. My back was rigid like a wooden plank, and my limbs were jelly. I was covered by the warm blanket, but it did almost nothing to keep the cold from seeping through it.

After a lot of effort, I finally managed to open my eyes and sat myself up, clutching the blanket closer to me. It was still dark, and a few stars glimmered in the sky. I checked my phone for the time: 2:46 am.

I sighed and begrudgingly got up from the seat. I dragged myself inside my room and started my morning routine. I cleaned the room and got ready for the journey. After I was satisfied with everything, I picked up my small luggage bag and went into the hall.

The lights were off, signalling that no one was up yet. So, I laid down my bag beside the sofa and made some coffee for myself. Yuvaan wasn't up yet, so he wouldn't find out. I ate some toast with the coffee while waiting for the others to come. But they didn't.

My eyes were closing due to the lack of sleep, so I splashed some water on my face to keep myself awake. I didn't want to receive scolding first thing in the morning.

I walked towards the living room and made myself comfortable on one of the couches. The master clock struck 4 am, and I glanced upstairs-still no sign of anyone. Even Grace had also not made her appearance yet.

I waited for some more time. One more hour passed, and I was still alone, sitting like an idiot in the middle of the house. Yuvaan had told me that our flight was at 6 am, so we should have left by now.

Considering the boarding and waiting time, it would take us two more hours, but we were already one hour late. I decided to ask Yuvaan myself.

What if he forgot about it? I knew he would blame me for that too.

So, I made my way towards his room slowly. I was about to knock on his door when one of the guest room's doors opened. Heena came out while yawning in her tracksuit. She adjusted the headphones around her neck, and soon, Advait also came out from another room.

Both of them nodded at each other and began chatting. They stopped when they spotted me, and Heena beamed at me. "Reyna bhabhi (brother's wife), good morning!"

Bhabhi? It was the first time someone called me that.

"Good morning, Heena," I replied.

"We are going out for a jog? Wanna join?" she asked, and I looked at her in confusion.

"But aren't we supposed to leave?" I questioned and glanced at Advait who was staring at Heena.

"Leave where?"

"Flight... Yu-Yuvaan said that our flight to Chile was at 6 am. He told me to wake up by 3."

"What?!" Heena yelled.

Just at that moment, Yuvaan's room's door opened, and he leaned on the doorjamb; he didn't look surprised. Heena asked him if what I said was true, and he nodded. She shot him a scowl and looked at me in pity. Advait showed no sign of any emotion.

"Why did you believe him, bhabhi? He lied!" Heena said and punched Yuvaan on the shoulder.

I glanced at him, and he smirked. "You woke up early?" he asked as if he was really worried.

"Yes, I have been waiting for everyone for the last two hours," I answered as I tried to control my anger.

"Are you complaining right now, Reyna?" he irked.

I curled my hands into fists. Heena frowned and glared at Yuvaan. Advait told her that they should leave, but she dismissed him with a wave of her hand.

"You did wrong, bro. Why would you lie to her? She woke up so early because you told her to. Why did you do that?" she complained.

Yuvaan narrowed his eyes at her, and she huffed. They seemed to be talking through their eyes, and after a few minutes of silence, Heena grabbed my hand and took me downstairs with her.

Advait called her name, but she flipped him off. Once downstairs, she took us in the dining room and poured some water in a glass. She gulped it down in one take and sighed.

"Jerks," she mumbled. She put the glass back on the counter forcefully and sat down beside me.

"Bhabhi, we don't have any scheduled flight today," she confessed.

I should have suspected that. I lost my precious sleep because of it!

"Then what about going to Chile?" I asked.

"Oh, we are going there, but not in a commercial flight."

"Then how?"

"Private jet."

I pursed my lips, and Heena gave me a sympathetic look. She apologized for what happened, and I waved her off. It wasn't her fault that I made a fool out of myself. I was sure she didn't even know the whole situation, or else she wouldn't be so nice to me.

"You can go, Heena. I will manage," I said, and she banged her fist on the table.

She was struggling to say something, but after a few moments of thinking, she shook her head and got up to leave. I told her not to worry, and she shot me a sincere smile. I also returned the gesture, and she left for her jog.

I felt like crying. It wasn't that much of a serious matter, but I felt like shit. Yuvaan lied to me and didn't even feel guilty. I was getting so much less sleep as it is, but he still wasn't satisfied.

When will he stop? Was he going to work me up till I fall dead from exhaustion? Maybe he can. It will give him immense pleasure and he can get rid of the 'Trash' without much effort.

"Don't you have any work today?" Yuvaan's stern voice landed in my ears.

"When are we leaving?" I interrogated instead of answering.

"In the afternoon," he replied as he took out a juice container from the fridge.

"Okay," I replied and walked out from there.

I decided to complete my today's work as soon as possible without getting into an argument with my husband. All the servants and workers were back from their one week holiday and seemed in a merry mood. They were already informed by Grace about the change in their work schedule and not to disturb me while I was doing my job.

So, just like any other day, I was busy in the garden, watering the plants. My hands were aching while holding the huge canister, so I joined a pipe to the tap and sprayed water all over the lawn. I moved the pipe over the tall bushes while humming to myself.

"What the hell?!" I heard someone exclaim loudly.

A head appeared from behind the bushes and soon a whole body followed. I widened my eyes when I saw Shaurya flailing his arms around. He was wearing a black t-shirt and yoga pants, and his curly hair bounced on his head as he jumped around with an annoyed expression on his face.

"Will you stop it, Reyna?" he yelled, and I realised that I was still spraying water on him.

Shit!

I quickly threw the pipe away and turned off the tap. I ran back to him and told him that I didn't know he was there. He rolled his eyes and glanced around. His yoga mat was drenched in water, just like him, and he looked like he wanted to murder me.

"I am sorry, Shaurya. I didn't do it on purpose," I said.

"Whatever."

"Please don't tell Yuvaan," I requested in a low voice.

Yuvaan would wreak havoc if he got to know about what I did. He would hear no excuses, and I didn't want to imagine what he would do to me.

"Why not?" Shaurya questioned while rolling his mat.

"He will punish me."

"Oh yeah? Does it look like I care? You messed up my morning routine; it needs to be reported to Yuv," he threatened.

My eyes widened, and I felt the blood drain out from my face. Shaurya raised his eyebrows at me. "You are really great at acting innocent, Reyna. Go and fool someone else."

He pushed past me after throwing a scornful look-I could feel his disgust towards me. He didn't seem concerned about my pleas, so I picked up the water pipe again and distracted myself with my work.

He was Yuvaan's friend after all. Why would he ever believe me? He would definitely tell Yuvaan, and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Only Heena was kind enough to treat me like a human being. I hoped she would not change like others.

"Reyna! Come, beta. It is time for breakfast," Grace informed.

I nodded at her and went into the dining room. After having my breakfast, I completed my other small chores, and it was soon time to leave. My luggage was already in the hall, so I didn't need to worry.

"Is everyone here?" Yuvaan asked as he came downstairs, dressed in a loose grey tank top and cargos.

Advait and Shaurya also sported the similar outfits, and Heena joined them soon. She was also wearing a simple white spaghetti top and dark blue track pants. She came beside me and asked me why I was wearing a saree.

"It is going to take us about thirty one hours to reach Chile, bhabhi. Won't you be uncomfortable in this?" She gave me a once over.

"Worry about yourself, Monkey," Yuvaan said.

Heena was about to reply, but I stopped her. "It is okay, Heena. I don't have such clothes as it is."

"You can borrow mine," she replied enthusiastically.

"It will take three of her to fit into your clothes," Shaurya teased, and Heena shot him a death glare.

"Come on, bhabhi. Let's go. We are surrounded by stupid people," Heena grunted and took me along with her.

I managed to grab my travel bag on the way and got in one of the cars parked outside the house. Once inside the car, I relaxed as my back hit the soft leather seat. We were on our way to Yuvaan's private jet runway, and Heena was talking continuously.

I tried to focus on what she was saying, but the smooth swaying of the car lulled me to sleep, and my head hit the car window beside me. I didn't realise when we reached the place as I was woken up by Heena.

I felt like I didn't sleep at all. Heena got out of the car, and I followed suit. Our driver took out our bags from the dickey as we walked towards the runway. I couldn't register my surroundings properly as I was still half-asleep.

But when my eyes landed on the huge white plane standing gloriously in the middle of the concrete ground, all of my fatigue flew away. I was about to run towards it, but stopped myself when I saw Yuvaan looking at me.

I slowed down my pace and kept close to Heena. All of our luggage was transported inside by the cabin crew which comprised of three air-hostesses and two pilots. They greeted Yuvaan and his friends and one by one, everyone climbed up the staircase and entered the jet.

I took my time and observed the beautiful beast from the outside. It was so huge, I had never seen one before in my life. I took out my phone to click some pictures to share with my friends, but Yuvaan yelled at me to stop fooling around.

I sulked and kept the phone back in my bag. Before he could scold me more, I got inside the plane, and my eyes almost popped out. The interior was surreal, and the artist in me wanted to sketch out the smallest of the details.

Unfortunately, I had no supplies, but I traced everything in my mind. The walls were painted in a cream colour with matching seats, mahogany wooden tables and floor. Small yellow lights were lining the ceiling accompanied with intricate designs. I was awed by the structure.

(Images are used for representational purpose only.)

"Mam, please take a seat," one of the air-hostess told me politely.

She looked really cute in a red and white dress, and her hair styled in bob cut gave her face a childish look. I read her name plate: Kavya Madhavan. Pretty name for a pretty girl.

I looked at the seats in front of me and there was no one else around.

"Where is everyone?" I asked.

"They have retired to the rooms for some rest. Would you like to join them too?" she asked.

"Ummm... no. It is not required. Thank you," I replied, and she told me to take a seat in that case.

I followed her instructions and grabbed a window seat on the left side. I loved window seats. She asked me if I needed something from my bag, and when I shook my head, she kept my bag in the small cabin over my head.

Soon, the pilot made the announcement that the flight was going to take off, and I put the seat belt around my waist as instructed. I glued my eyes to the window and almost squealed when the jet left the contact from the ground and sailed into the sky.

Everything looked like a dream: blue sky, clouds looking like cotton candy, birds flying around as if they were giving competition to the man made machine, and the beautiful buildings resembling Lego from high above.

"Mam, why don't you take some rest? You look tired," Kavya asked.

"Don't worry. I am not tired," I replied and pointed towards a huge mountain.

"Kavya, look. The clouds are almost passing through it. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could touch them?" I expressed my joy.

She smiled at me. "Do you want to eat something then? Yuvaan sir would scold us if we didn't take care of you," she said. Her other team members also joined her and looked at me in worry.

I controlled myself from laughing out loud. They were concerned that Yuvaan would worry about me not getting looked after? I wished I could tell them that their boss starved me for days when I didn't do my work on time.

"If you are requesting so much then I will take one glass of hot chocolate," I told them.

Kavya sighed in relief and brought me my drink in a flash. She started to leave, but I stopped her. I liked her company, and it was really nice to have someone catering to my needs without wanting anything in return.

I asked her a lot of questions about herself, and she was kind enough to tell me in detail about her job. We chatted like we were old friends, and I was telling her about my friends when Yuvaan made his appearance.

Kavya quickly got up from her seat and excused herself. Yuvaan sat down on the right side and ordered one of the hostesses to bring him some tea. She nodded and went away to fulfill his order.

I looked away when he trained his eyes in my direction. I didn't look at him and kept my attention on the world outside. I could feel his eyes on me, but I managed to distract myself when I spotted a huge lake flowing like a snake.

I was going to call Kavya to have a look, but stopped in time before I created trouble for her too. So, I kept the excitement to myself and laughed whenever I saw something amazing. I was getting such a nice view from the small window that I didn't want it to stop.

But everything comes to an end, no matter how beautiful it is.
