Chapter Sixteen - In Motion

Two Months Later.

I open the door to Cameron's communications room before making my way to the numerous screens he was standing in front of. My gaze immediately latches onto the ship carrying numerous containers of our drugs and weapons. It's a shipment worth millions of dollars, one that dad was relying on to arrive successfully in Spain. Everything has gone according to plan...until Judah hacked into the ship's systems and rerouted it to a completely different port. It now comes down to the last few minutes where the ship must dock.

"Stop on the right...yes, there. Wait for the supervisor to exit that blue door." I instruct the team who are listening from my hair clip. "Okay...all clear."

Even though I'm not there I still flinch slightly when Reece blows up the ship which takes out a massive chunk of the port. Cameron releases a breath of relief before grinning at me. I roll my eyes playfully as we watch chaos ensue.

"Judah...is a fucking genius!" Cameron breathes as he leans forward against the table.

"You say that every time Cam."

"He literally hacked into the ships' systems and blew it up! How?!" He exclaims with a wide grin as he watches the live view of workers running away.

"He had the help of Reece, Falcon Security's explosives tech." I laugh lightly as I make my way over to the screens again. "Any word from dad yet?"

He glances down at his phone before shaking his head. "Nothing still. I bet he has eyes on this though and already knows. He's been losing his mind with everything going wrong these past two months."

"So...next plan of action? Shift his suspicion onto one of his enemies?" I ask while crossing my arms. "Who does he suspect the most right now?"

"Alejandra Santos in Mexico." He smirks and my eyes widen in realization that Santos' daughter has stepped up to run his business. "He trusts her as far as he can throw her...which isn't very far. Always spouting bullshit about how women can't run these empires because of their soft hearts and other shit."

"Of course, he'd say that!" I scoff with a roll of my eyes.

"How's work going? Any trouble?"

"It's shit." I mumble as I scuff my shoe against the carpet. "And no trouble. I've been careful."

"Keep your chin up. He hasn't said anything but I'm sure he's noticed you've been good recently." He squeezes my shoulder with a comforting smile. "I'll try talking to him about moving you off again okay?"

Before I can respond though the door opens and our father marches in. His eyes meet mine and narrow as he shuts the door non too gently. I stand straight as he stops before me, not even greeting or acknowledging Cameron who looks on worriedly.

"Why are you in here?" He finally speaks in a gruff tone.

"Reporting to Cam...like you told me to."

I gasp when he curls his hands around my throat and slams me against the wall. "If you're involved in this shit in any way Marcella I –"

"Dad!" Cameron seethes as he pulls him off and stands in front of me protectively. "She's been serving her punishment without any trouble! How would she be involved when we've got eyes on her and she doesn't leave the base without anyone?! Quit being unreasonable!"

He only stares at me with a hard look as if he didn't hear Cameron at all. I glare at him as I rub my sore neck where he had squeezed mercilessly. I wouldn't be surprised if his intention was to kill me. After what seems like hours his gaze slides to Cameron before he takes in all the screens.

"What's this?" He points to them as he glares accusingly at Cam.

"I was going to turn them off when Marcie came in but then you entered." He lies smoothly as he shuts everything down.

I resist the urge to scoff at my dad not wanting me to see or hear absolutely nothing of what's been going on since I'm not a part of his inner circle anymore. Yet I'm the one helping to ruin all that you've built, I chuckle mentally. Well...as much as I can. Torturing people doesn't really contribute much.

It's been two and a half months now yet my father still hasn't taken me off interrogation duty. I've stayed out of trouble and have been working without a single complaint to him. Usually, I'd be trying to convince him to let me back on the ground but this time I know I've fucked up badly so I suck it up.

"I'm calling a meeting so I need you in my office in ten." Dad states as he glances at his shiny gold watch that probably cost thousands. He passes me on his way to leave and I almost sigh in relief but he stops before looking at me over his shoulder. "And you Marcella...you're on clean up duty from now on as well as interrogation."

"Understood." I nod while clenching my fists tightly.

He nods in satisfaction before leaving the room and Cameron hurries to close the door after he's left the hallway completely. I sag against the table and rub at my neck with a deep scowl. My brother murmurs apologies as he checks my neck before hugging me tightly.

"Yeah he's noticed me alright...all for the wrong reasons." I mutter sarcastically as I pull away.

"I don't know what the fuck is wrong with him!" He seethes as he sits down with a huff. "Taking his anger out on you isn't right –"

"Wouldn't be the first time our parents did that to me." I mumble and he stares at me with an unimpressed yet concerned look. "Sorry."

"That reminds me...what are we doing with mom when shit hits the fan?" He asks as he turns his laptop off.

"I'm not saving her ass. Good riddance!" I snort as I cross my arms.

He goes to protest but thinks better of it after meeting my glare. "You're right. My priority is getting us out of here and after how she treated you she can burn in hell."

"That's the spirit!" I cheer mockingly which makes him laugh as I walk towards the door.

"If that bruises let me know straight away!" He calls and I close the door with a shake of my head.

Always worrying about me.

"Ugh!" I huff as I load the last body bag into the truck. "This stinks!"

"Nice pun." Rodrigo chuckles before waving a hand in front of his nose with another grimace.

We've just finished nine hours full of interrogation and cleaning up the dead bodies before getting them in the truck to be disposed of. Without breaks. I feel like I'm ready to collapse as we get changed before he drags me down to his office.

"I need a huge favor Marcie girl –"

I let out a loud and overdramatic groan as I throw myself into the chair. "Ugh no, I'm not going to give you a massage –"

"No! Although...that would be nice!" He chuckles before pulling me up and making me sit in his seat in front of the computer. "We have paperwork to do on clean up duties as well. The templates for that are in this folder. Onto the favor I need...it's Ben's birthday and he wants to have dinner together –"

"Go. I'll get these done and dropped off to dad." I smile as I wave him off.

"You're the best! Love you Marcie. I'll be back soon!" He grins happily as he grabs his coat and rushes out of the office.

I laugh softly before getting started on the paperwork. My hair clip is on so hopefully me and Judah can talk tonight. We've been doing it every chance we can get when he sees that I'm alone and have access to a laptop. He didn't show up yesterday which worried me a little but I thought nothing of it.

I wait for Judah to take control of the laptop to start our chat but nothing happens after an hour and a half of me just doing paperwork. I immediately become anxious since this is the second night in a row. Thoughts of my dad's men finding them or worse fill my mind and I can't stop my concern from increasing.

I continue to sit there nervously as I finish up the rest of the work while my leg bounces erratically. When nothing changes at the two hour mark I tidy everything up before pacing the length of the office. But my brother stops me from freaking out when he opens the door and steps in.

"Marcie, I've got – what's wrong?"

"Judah hasn't talked to me in two days." I slump in the chair and rub a hand over my face tiredly.

"Do you think dad –"

"Yes. Did he say anything about him lately?" I ask as he leans against the door with furrowed brows.

"No because he's too busy stressing out over everything going wrong. It's like he's forgotten about Judah entirely." Cameron shrugs before shooting me a reassuring smile. "I'm sure nothing's wrong Mar. Maybe they're moving to another safe house again and it's taking a while to get there."

"Yeah...maybe." I mumble before sighing heavily. "Did you have dinner yet?"

"No so hurry up. I'm starving!" He whines dramatically as he clutches his stomach.

"Alright! Did you need anything from here or are we good to go?" I ask as I grab the files and my jacket.

"Almost forgot! I came here to say that dad has a new assignment for you."

I turn to face him as a wide smile graces my lips that matches his own. He chuckles before gesturing for me to walk out and I turn off the light before following him down the hallway. We pass Rodrigo on the way to the elevator and I let him know I'll be dropping off the paperwork to dad tonight. He exhales in relief before quickly kissing my temple and bidding me goodnight.

"Dad suspects Alejandra Santos was behind this morning's disaster. The men that we had sent out failed to terminate her and now she's gone into hiding. He wants you on the ground to get rid of her because you're the best we have." Cameron explains once we get into the lift to take us to dad's floor.

"Finally! After two fucking months!" I grin excitedly as we step out.

"I need you to tell the Falcons not to interfere. Dad wants increased security on this job which I'll be handling so we don't need any eyes back on Judah again." He warns and I nod in agreement.

"Got it. I'll let them know."

"And please don't get into trouble on this job." He stresses as I stop outside the hallway to dad's office.

"I won't and even if I accidentally do I've got you." I smirk smugly to which he just rolls his eyes in response.

"Always. Now hurry the fuck up and go meet dad. I'll start eating your portion too if you're not down in ten." He grins boyishly before racing away.

"Little shit." I mumble with a small smile before knocking on the door. I hear his muffled voice telling me to enter before I step inside. "I have the paperwork for today's bodies."

"Close the door and take a seat Marcella. I want to speak to you." He demands without looking away from his computer. I do as he says before folding my hands in my lap as I wait. "Did Cameron tell you what the footage was that he was watching?"

"No." I frown in mock confusion which he seems to buy.

"Good. That was my sixth drugs and weapons shipment that got blown up." He states and I pretend to be surprised. "You probably don't know but Santos' daughter, Alejandra, took over his empire recently in Mexico. I have a feeling she is behind this so I want you to end her."

"What if she's not?" I dare to ask as he slides me the file on her.

He shrugs indifferently as he lights up a cigar. "Less competition for me."

"But the Santos gang are our allies are they not?"

"Yes but I wouldn't trust a woman doing a man's job." He rolls his eyes and I refrain from calling him out for the sexist pig he is. "Today they're our ally...tomorrow they're our enemies. It's best we take care of the threat either way mija."

"Of course. When do I leave?"

"Six in the morning." He replies and I glance at the clock to see that it's just struck one a.m. "You will be landing in Mexico and staying at a hotel. You are a new drugs supplier in the market which will catch her attention. She's in hiding but they're not doing so well in that field so she'll set up a meeting with you. From there I want you to track her down and kill her."

"Understood."

"Good." He leans back with a satisfied look. "But this does not mean you are back in my inner circle. After this assignment I want you to return to your current duties. I will see about letting you back on the ground permanently after another month or so. Don't disappoint me again Marcella."

"I won't. You have my word." I nod before he gestures for me to leave.

I grab the file before leaving his office with a small smirk. Oh dad, I think to myself as I make my way to the kitchen. You won't get the opportunity to feel disappointed after I'm done putting you six feet under.
