Chapter 55 - Benefit of the doubt.

I woke up that morning feeling happier than I've ever felt.

I'm sure I felt this every morning, especially waking up next to my amazing husband.

But I knew that I was extra happy when I thought about the little baby we were going to be bringing into the world 9 months from now. It excited me to death.

I was nervous yesterday, scared to the bone, but with Kyle by my side I knew I could do it.

I moved off of Kyle once I had woken up properly. His arm came out to wrap around me instead and I smiled at his movements.

I snuggled in deeper and relished in kyle's body heat.

"Good morning," I heard a husky voice come out. I turned my head to the side to see his electric blue eyes stare back at me.

"Morning." I said back as I smiled at him.

"What's gotten you all happy this morning, babe?" Kyle asked as he sat up straighter. I brought my head down to his chest.

"Nothing." I sighed in happiness. Kyle chuckled and my head bobbed up and down from it.

"Well, it's infectious." Kyle replied. I smiled again. "When can we make the appointment to see the doctor?" Kyle asked and I laughed at his eagerness.

"You're eager." I stated out my thoughts.

"I'm excited, I want to tell everyone." He replied and I could almost hear the massive smiled on his face.

"You're just going to have to wait a few more days." Kyle groaned in reply but all I did was laugh at him. "Just rein in your excitement."

"I'll try." I looked up to see him pouting.

"I know." I kissed his cheek before moving away from his body and bouncing off the bed.

The movement made my head spin a little, and my stomach churn with sickness.

"You okay?" Kyle jumped out of bed to stand next to me, he took me in his arms and I could hear the concern in his voice. I nodded my head.

"I'm good." After a few seconds I was.

Kyle took my down stairs wrapped up in his body heat without another word.

He stuck me on top of the counter and I flinched at the contact of coldness on my legs.

Kyle moved to the fridge and I watched his body as he moved. He was sexy as sin, and all mine.

"Look at those muscles." I said in a deep voice as he moved around the kitchen. He looked to me with a quirked brow. "Look at them eye brows."

"Shut up." Kyle said as he chuckled. He flicked a bit of butter at my face from the knife and I flinched.

"What the-"

"No swearing," Kyle demanded. "Baby." He pointed the knife at my belly with a stern face. I laughed.

Kyle began to make breakfast and I continued to sit and watch him.

As he was making breakfast, I realised I hadn't been outside much, I'm sure my lungs didn't know what fresh air felt like.

I would definitely need to get out soon.

"We're out of milk." Kyle stated as he turned to look at me from the fridge.

I jumped off the counter slowly. "I'll get it."

"No you won't." Kyle said. I looked to him in annoyance. I damn well was going to get it, because I wanted fresh air.

"Why not?" I asked. Kyle's eyes flickered to my belly and I shot him a deathly look. "Don't be like that, I'm going to get milk, and you will let me because you're not being over baring, okay?" I said firmly. Oh he wasn't going to win this.

Kyle sighed in annoyance but he nodded anyway. I bounded over to him and kissed him.

"Two minutes." I stated before moving.

"Be careful." Kyle demanded strongly. I rolled my eyes.

"Alright, mother." I called back before walking to the door.

It was nice to open the door to fresh morning air. It was better than being stuffed inside.

I breathed in the air and happily made my way down the road to the corner shop only a few minutes away from the house.

I was almost bouncing along the pavement as I went. I was extremely happy this morning and I didn't want anything to ruin that.

As soon as I got to the little shop near the corner of the street, I opened the door and made my way to the fridges. I welcomed the cool air there as I picked up a pint of milk.

For good measures, I also picked up some chocolate because, well, who doesn't like chocolate? I swear they just look at me waiting to eat them.

They're definitely going to be slammed down my throat nicely.

As soon as I was about to turn around, I bounced off a body.

"Shit." I replied as I rubbed my nose in pain.

"Sorry." Someone gushed. I looked up into familiar eyes.

"Danny?" I asked. Danny looked down at me and his eyes recognition as he looked to me.

"Cali! Hey." He greeted as he smiled.

"What are you doing here? I mean, you don't live here." I asked as I looked to him with curiosity burning my senses.

"To meet up with some friends really." Danny stated.

"Oh wow, you'll have to come over for dinner one day." I said. Danny nodded his head enthusiastically.

"Of course, and I need to meet this hot bestfriend of yours, I'm still waiting to meet up with him." Danny winked my way and I laughed. They would definitely get along.

"Of course!" I exclaimed. I could see it all now. They were both looking for their 'one' even when they both had all the time in the world. I just know they'd get along whether romantically or just as friends. It warmed my heart.

"Well, I can't wait, text me when you want me." Danny stated. I nodded my head. "Okay, I best be off, I've got a call of duty game going on back at my friends house. See you soon." Danny waved as he made his way out of the shop.

I went to the check out and got my items paid for and put into a plastic bag.

I thanked the lady at the cash register and her bright red smile beamed back at me.

I then made my way into the fresh air again. Savouring it. I doubt I was going to get so much of it when Kyle was as possessive and protective as he was.

As soon as I was home, I took my shoes off before moving into the kitchen. Kyle was no where to be found.

I put the milk into the fridge and the chocolate on the side. Where was Kyle?

I made my way upstairs and before I could, Kyle came barreling down the stairs.

His face looked ashen, as he held a letter in his hands.

"What the fuck is this?" He bellowed. My mouth opened and closed as my heart started to beat fast. What was what? "When were you going to tell me?"

"Tell you what?" I asked quietly.

"Don't play dumb, Cali!" He exclaimed as he pushed passed me and made his way into the living room. He slammed down the piece of paper onto the coffee table and I stood by the door frame.

"Kyle, what's going on?" I asked. I was so confused.

"A univeristy letter? Seriously? This far away? We're having a baby soon!" Kyle let out loudly as he started pacing the floor.

"A univeristy letter?" I questioned as I made my way over to it. I picked it up and my heart sank. I got accepted for an interview.

"I applied ages ago." I stated. "I swear, I didn't know I was pregnant at the time." I said as I looked to him.

"That far away? I can't believe it. Fuck." He cursed as he laid his head into his hands.

"What's the big deal?" I asked quietly. I was scared to ask but I had to nonetheless.

"The big deal?" He spluttered. "You've applied for a univeristy that is miles away and we're expecting a family! Where the fuck are we going to get that kind of money from for all of us to move? I bought us a house here!"

"It doesn't mean I will go, Kyle. This was before I knew anything else about our future." I waved the letter around in the air to emphasise my point.

Kyle sighed as he looked to me.

"You're not going." He demanded. "You can't go." He pleaded. He sighed again. "I mean, you can go if you want, even though you're expecting our baby, you can go because I won't stop your future this way." He looked to me as his chest heaved.

"I'm not going." I replied. I couldn't go, he was right. I had a family starting, a baby on it's way in the months to come and a new house to finalise. My family was here, I couldn't go anyway, I was pregnant.

"Christ." Kyle sighed.

"Are you still mad at me?" I asked as I pleaded with him. Please don't be mad at me, I pleaded inside.

"I don't know." Kyle threw himself back on the sofa. "I guess not." He shook his head. "I'm sorry, I just don't want us to ruin this perfect life I've started to become accustomed to with you."

"I won't ruin it. We won't ruin it. Life won't be perfect all the time though, Kyle, but it's near it when I'm with you." I stated. I took hold of his hand. "I don't like it when you're mad at me."

"I'm sorry, baby, I'm most probably stressing you and the baby out."

"Kyle, the baby isn't even half a human yet, chill out." I demanded. Kyle looked to me.

"I can't, I'm finding it hard to chill out, my minds been playing over time, what if someone hurts you? What if someone tries to hurt you and the baby? What if I can't keep you safe? It's killing me now, because I'm scared I can't be man enough to keep you safe." He explained. My heart squeezed. He didn't have to worry so much.

"You need to stop worrying about things, stop worrying about it, I'm safe, the baby has fat in its way to keep it safe, Kyle, it's not exposed to the air." I replied back almost with humour. "I'm not glass, or made of glass."

"You're more worthy than glass. You're gold, baby." He sighed. "I'm just trying to protect what's mine." He stated. He moved to pull me into his arms as he kissed the top of my head.

"Stop trying to protect me from something that isn't there to cause me any harm." I said. He needed to understand that.

"I'll protect you from anything and everything, because I can and because I want to. I'll protect you when I want to because it'll help me sleep at night. You may not have a worry in the world about your protection, but my worries would fill the size of the world, for you, because you're my wife and people protect what they love. It's natural instinct." He said. He brought me on to his lap and laid his chin on my head as I curled up to his chest.

"Okay, okay, I understand you." I replied. I did, I understood his reasons to worry. After all, people did protect the people the love. It really was natural instinct.

"Good, I'm not mad at you any more, love, just give me the benefit of the doubt, I do rash things and I get mad but it's only because I care, baby, believe me." I nodded my head against his chest.

"I know, I'm glad you care about me."

"I do, so much." And he kissed my forehead again.
