Chapter 36- there's my girl.

I rolled over and cuddled up to Kyle's chest. He was so warm and hard and inviting. I sighed in content.

His arms wrapped tighter around my body, even when he was sleeping. I could have stayed here forever.

Behind him, I took a look at the clock and gasped in shock.

"Fuck," I whispered. "Kyle, it's 11 AM!" I hissed as I turned and rolled out of bed. I heard him groan as his arm came out to grab me.

"Where are you going?" His husky voice came out. I looked to him.

"It's 11AM, Kyle, look at the time! We're late!" Before I could move any further, his arms wrapped around my waist as he pulled me back down beside him. I tried to wiggle free.

"Don't go, just stay in bed a little longer," he pleaded. I sighed.

"We have school,"

"It won't hurt to miss a day, love," he replied. "Stop worrying and lay down with me," I sighed again and did as I was told.

"Fine," Kyle sat up a little more and rested his head on his hands behind him.

"Cali?" I turned to look at him as I laid beside him on my back.

"Yeah?"

"You're beautiful," he smiled cheekily. I shook my head but smiled too.

"So are you," his tousled morning hair was my most favourite thing.

His body suddenly moved from beside me as he rolled off the bed.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"It's a surprise, wait there," he held up a finger to indicate for me to stay right where I was.

"So you tell me to stay and then a minute later you just roll over and leave whenever you please, Kyle, I don't how to feel about that," I said playfully, he chuckled as he made his way to the door.

"I'm a man,"

"Chauvinist pig,"

"Loves you," he blew me a kiss as he walked out of the room. I laughed to myself slightly as I laid there.

I didn't know what he was up to, and I didn't really care, I trusted him.

My heart felt heavy whenever Kyle wasn't here beside me. My father let him stay the night, and Kyle stays every night now anyway, and luckily, my father didn't mind. He knew I needed Kyle.

Even when I knew he was only downstairs, he wasn't here to take my mind off of the situation I found myself in.

I felt sad, and upset and really depressed. I guess you would once you realise the only parental figure you have is fighting a disease as big as the big C.

"Cali!" Kyle shouted from downstairs. I got up from the bed and padded into the hall. I looked down the stairs and I saw him standing there.

"What?"

"Your dad wants you," I walked down the stairs at a faster pace.

"Everything okay?" I said as soon as I was downstairs, Kyle laid his hand on the middle of my back as I went into the living room.

"Yeah, I was going to bring you breakfast in bed but your dad said he really wanted to talk to you," he shrugged as if it was no big deal.

Before I made my way into the kitchen, I turned around and smacked my lips against his.

"Thankyou for the thought," I said before he smiled and led me into the kitchen.

My father sat there with a cup of tea nestled between his two palms. He looked run down, tired, cold and pale but I didn't bring it up in conversation and I tried not to think about it too much.

I made my way over to him to give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek before sitting beside him.

"What's up, dad?" I said as Kyle slinked out of the room quietly.

"I really don't want to ask you this, and I'll regret it so much for doing so, but, Cali, I need to ask you for a massive favor," he looked hesitant, but determination was evident in his eyes.

"What is it?" I asked as I gave him my full attention.

"I need you to visit your mother," was his only reply. I sat there, speechless.

I didn't know what to say, I didn't want to see her after what she did. But my father was asking, and I'd do anything for him, but this? I didn't know.

"What?" I breathed. "No, dad, I can't," he grabbed my two hands.

"You can, love, you can do anything, I really need you to do this for me, even if it's for ten minutes, so be it, but I need you to go and visit her, talk it through, please, I beg you,"

"Why?" He sighed, as he looked down to his knees.

"There's no easier way to put this, but as you know, I'm not going to live for much longer, Cali, and I'm not ready to leave you here on a planet with no one but your boyfriend and your sister. A girl needs her mother,"

"What about Tammy?" Tears welled up in my eyes, but I tried not to let them fall, I wanted to be strong, for my father and myself.

"She's promised me she'd talk to her, and I want you to too. I need you to try and give it a shot, because believe me, I once loved her so much it hurt, and I can see it when I look at you and Kyle, and even when she did nearly kill you, I miss her completely, I feel empty without her, but she's in a better place and so will I be soon," he replied. "I've gone to see her already, we've said our goodbyes already, and she seemed stable when I saw her last,"

"Gosh, dad, I don't know," I looked down as the tears threatened to fall.

"Shall I get Kyle?" My father knew I was just about to burst into tears. He didn't have enough energy to move and to take me into his arms, I knew that. I nodded anyway.

I thought my father was going to shout for him, but he got out his phone from his pocket, clicked a button and put the phone to his ear.

"I know I'm calling you from the kitchen, I'm not stupid, I need you in here, boy," I could hear the humour coming from my fathers voice, and even he looked happier when he was near Kyle or talking to him.

In just two seconds, Kyle made his way into the kitchen as he put his phone back into his pocket. He wore a smile and shook his head as he came over to my slouched body.

"What's up, sir?"

"Cut the crap and cuddle my daughter for me," his arms came around my waist and his body leaned against mine as he cuddled me close.

The tears fell freely now, and I clutched at Kyle's chest.

"What's up, baby?" He whispered into my ear.

"I don't want to go and visit my mum, I don't want to see her," I didn't want to admit it, but I was scared of her.

"I'm not making you, love," my father replied. "I just wanted you to, but I'd never force you, I totally understand,"

"I'll come if you want, I'll be there beside you, I'll leave you to it whenever you ask, but I'll be there too, you won't go through it alone, baby, I promise, you can do this, do it for your father, try and make some kind of amends," I thought about it for a couple of seconds before wiping my eyes and vanishing any crying evidence before nodding.

"Okay, okay I'll see her, but I want to see her today, get it over and done with," I sniffed. My father nodded and Kyle pulled my out of his arms as he looked to me.

"There's my girl," he rubbed my back as I got up. The two gave each other a knowing look but I chose to ignore it as I shook myself to try and get a grip.

"I'll never thank you enough for this, Cali, I love you,"

"I love you too, dad,"

"I love you three, Cali and dad," Kyle smiled widely. I laughed at his idiotic attitude, but I fell for him even more. That was the boy I loved. My father chuckled too and it was great to see.

"Are you going now then?" He asked. Kyle looked to me and I nodded.

"I'll drive you there," Kyle stated as he took hold of my hand.

"I'll see you later," I said to my dad after giving him another kiss on the cheek.

Kyle and I then made our way out into the open. We made our way to his car and took the journey to the mental institute only half an hour away.

Kyle knew the way as he listened to his GPS, and I stayed silent.

When we finally pulled up, I took a look at the old building. It was made of a faded colour brick, and it had massive pillars at the entrance.

It looked like an old fashioned hospital with black gates around it. It looked scary and it didn't help me at all.

I couldn't believe I was actually going to try and talk it out with a mother who wasn't there for me and tried to kill me.

Kyle led me up to the entrance of the building as he kept me close. He wouldn't let me out of his sight and he knew he would have to be there for me at my weakness points, and I'm sure this was going to be one of them.

"Come on, baby, don't worry about a thing," Kyle said as he pulled me to the desk at the front of the room we first walked into.

Kyle talked to the receptionist and after a few details were exchanged, a lady led us to a big wooden door.

"Your mother I presume is in there, take your time," the lady smiled reassuringly. I let out a breath and nodded.

I made my way up to the door and I was just about to open the door when I froze. I turned around to look at Kyle.

He looked to me and nodded his head as if he was saying 'go on, you can do it, baby,'

"I can't," I said as I turned around fully to see him. He walked over to me.

"Yes you can, I promise you everything will be okay, I love you, Cali, I won't let anything happen," I nodded my head and I tried to shake the fear I felt away.

"Okay, I got this," I made my way over to the door again, turned around one more time to see Kyle, he looked at me with so much pride and affection, I knew I had to do this, I just had to.

"You're making me the proudest boyfriend ever right now," Kyle said lowly, and I smiled at the door before opening it. He found it, and gave me the confidence I needed to take a step forward. He really was everything to me.
