Chapter 35- Back to that are we love?

There was only a week left until graduation. Finally, I was leaving school. I couldn't wait in all honesty and I'm sure Kyle couldn't either.

Christmas was only a month away, and I was extremely excited for that too. I couldn't wait to give my father a great Christmas, and I was more than happy to spend it with Kyle.

It was a Saturday night, and I was cuddled up on the sofa with my father and Kyle.

We were watching the football match on tele as my dad sat in his arm chair with a blue fleece wrapped around his body and Kyle and I were sat on the double sofa with a red fleece around us as I cuddled into his body.

Kyle and my father were currently talking about the football and all that stuff I didn't really want to know. I watched them converse and I was happy they got along so well together.

My dad started to laugh at a comment Kyle made, and it was great to see him happy. I grabbed Kyles leg under the blanket to show him I was thankful.

I couldn't have done anything without Kyle, he truly was an angel, for me and my father.

"What's up?" Kyle whispered in my ear as my father continued to watch the game.

I kissed him on the cheek.

"Thank you," was my only reply.

"For what?"

"For just being here," I said as Kyle cuddled me closer.

"I'm always here," was his reply. I smiled at that.

We stayed in silence for a while longer, before Kyle shifted uncomfortably and got up from the sofa. He held out his hand and I cocked my head to the side.

"Just take it," he shook his head and rolled his eyes. He only learnt from the best.

I obeyed and laid my hand into his. I didn't know what he was doing but I hoped it was something good.

He pulled my up from the sofa and pulled me through the room.

"Where are you two going?" My dad's pale face looked to us as we moved to the door. He was looking worse, and that hurt me, but Kyle was here and I always felt stronger beside him.

"I'm taking your daughter somewhere, I hope you don't mind. We won't be too long," without even a second thought, my dad mustered a smile and nodded his head as approval. Kyle smiled his was before proceeding to pull me through the door.

"See you in a minute, dad," I just about got out before Kyle pulled me out of the house. As soon as my feet touched the cobbled floor, I asked, "where are we going?"

"You're always so full of questions," I heard his answer. I huffed.

"Kyle, come on," I moaned. "Tell me where we're going," I continued to whine.

"No,"

"Dick,"

"Back to that are we, love?" He turned around to wink my way. I huffed again. "Stop being grumpy and go along with it, for my sake,"

"Kyle-"

"Please, just go along with it for me,"

"Fine," I sighed with defeat. I didn't even begin to say another word.

"Anyway, I thought you liked suprises?" He said as we walked hand in hand to the end of the field. That's where we stopped.

"I do, but I'm curious," I replied. Kyle chuckled slightly as I stood in front of him.

His tight white shirt and his jean cladded thighs did nothing to stop my beating heart here in the dark.

There was hardly any light but from the street lights above us. The stars were twinkling just like his piercing eyes.

"Okay, so, don't freak out when I do this now, okay?" I looked to him with widened eyes.

"What?" My heart began beating quicker as Kyle reached into his pocket. What was he doing?

Suddenly, he dropped a knee to the floor, and my heart stopped beating all together.

"Kyle, what are you doing?" I whispered. "Get up from the floor," I croaked. Was he doing what I thought he was? "Kyle, I'm serious-"

"Shut up for a moment, Cali, it's not what it looks like," his eyes flashed with hurt but I was too worried to worry about it. Even though I really did hate to see it.

My heart slowed down but it was still beating with speed. What was he playing at? Was this some sort of game?

"This," he opened the lid to show me a ring with engraved writing. "This is a promise ring," he stated. He took it out of the case to inspect it.

"A promise ring?" I questioned as I looked down at him. He smiled and nodded.

"You promise to love me and stay with me by words, but then, well, you know, you said the words that were the complete opposite,"

"What are you getting at?"

"Well, this is a promise ring, sort of like a promise that you'll stay with me," he said as he grabbed my hands. "I have one too, as a promise that I'll stay with you too. Whatever you're going through, I won't leave, you shouldn't worry about it or feel insecure about me leaving, because I've got this, see?" He showed me his ring too which was from his pocket.

"Wow," I breathed as I looked at them. "But how did you afford it?" His face lit up and his smile could kill a thousand men.

"This is the best bit," he said. "We raised 9,000 dollars,"

"Holy shit, did we?" I nearly screamed. Kyle nodded.

"So, Bill and Mary only needed a certain amount, we still had quite a few dollars left, so the rest is going to charity, but I bought us these with some of it too,"

"You're an amazing man, Kyle," I stated. I really did mean it. Kyle just shrugged and smiled, it was the cutest thing I had ever seen.

"Be kind to the world, but never forget about your girl," he winked my way. I laughed at his motto, but I think I just fell in love with him more.

There's a man who can treat you right, but there's my man who can treat me right and treat the world the way you're supposed to. He was beautiful, inside and out.

"So, will you take the ring?" His face became serious, and I looked down at him for what seemed like a long time. His eyes were still twinkling under the street lights, and his face was apprehensive and vulnerable. But I just had to say yes.

"Of course," I replied as I smiled down to him. He almost chuckled at himself and got up to hug me. He gave me the ring.

"What finger do I put it on?" I asked confusingly. Kyle laughed from infront of me. He took the ring off me and slid it on to my fourth finger on my left hand.

"That's my marriage finger, this isn't an engagement ring," I stated as I looked up to him.

"I know, just think of it more as a reserve," he replied as his lips pulled up into a smirk. I slapped his chest but I smiled nonetheless.

"Thanks, Kyle, it's the best, I'm serious," I took him into my arms as I hugged him. He lifted me up from the floor and spun me around. He the gave me a kiss on the nose as he dropped my feet to the floor.

"Anything for you," he stated. "Anyway, you should have seen your face when you thought I was going to propose," he chuckled slightly but I know it hurt him just a little bit that I actually looked frightened.

"I was just scared because I knew we weren't ready for something like that," I replied. I did want to, definitely one day, just not today. I wasn't ready yet.

I really did love Kyle. I was so fully in love with him I couldn't explain it. I had never felt something so strong. He was my everything, he really was.

"Well, it's going to happen one day, if you want it to," he looked to me as he entwined his hand through mine.

"Course I do, one day," I smiled down to the floor.

I watched Kyle as he looked up to the sky.

"What are you doing?" I thought he maybe looking for Joe's star, like he usually did, but his answer shocked me.

"Thanking my lucky stars for getting a girl like you," I smiled wide as I giggled.

"That was so cheesy but that was incredibly cute,"

"I've heard that before of a certain someone," he chuckled. "But it's true, you're elegance and beauty and everything I'm not,"

"You're everything, babe, so shut up,"

"Always the romantic one," I laughed at him but I moved closed to his warm body.

"I don't have to be romantic like you, you know I love you, I just show it in a different way, but you haven't complained yet,"

"I'll never complain, it's enough," he replied.

We walked back to the house in silence, and I couldn't truly  change anything about Kyle and I. I just wished my dad would stay with me a little longer.

His life shouldn't have a time limit, I hated it.

"Stop over thinking," Kyle demanded as he looked to me.

"What?" My eyebrows furrowed. "I'm not,"

"Yes you are, and stop it," he said. He picked me up into his arms as we came closer to the front door of my house. "Now, wife who isn't my wife yet, let's go and do something honey moonish," he winked down at me and I laughed.

"Sounds good to me," he opened the door and carried me up to my bedroom.

My mind was preoccupied for a few hours, and I was happy with that.
