Rose was shown the dining room so she could set up her things Lara was already in there before answering the door having her morning coffee.

"So, Lara, your guard is Leighton, he has been doing this a long time and knows exactly what he's doing" she assures the woman.

Lara smiles at Leighton in greeting and he nods his head in return "Mrs Mathews" he speaks.

Finishing her coffee, she stands "I have a meeting at work and then office work from then on" she informs him.

"Okay Ma'am" he says.

Rose looks at Lara "Is Tyler in?" she asks.

"That boy is never out of his room until minutes before school" she muses.

"Ryan, why don't you go wake your new friend, wouldn't want him to be late" Rose suggests.

Ryan smiles evilly and rubs his hands together "Don't make a mess" she calls out to him.

"Which leaves my father with Mr Mathews".

He arrived soon after and then left with Scott following behind, Ryan practically skipped out of the house with Tyler slumping about and Lara left quickly after with Leighton.

Rose was now left alone. Switching her radio on she calls for Michael to come down stairs.

"Since no one is here, I need you to beak in" she says.

A glint of excitement grew on Michaels face. Putting his walkie talkie down on the table he left to go and break back in.

Rose needed to see if Michael could get into the property without being caught, she didn't tell the guys, but they knew it was coming, they did it with every property.

As Rose occupied herself with security checks and online college, she waited for the alert that Michael had got in, but was yet to hear, which meant he was scoping the place out.

The phone rang in the house, Rose wasn't going to get it, not her place, it went to answering phone. "Mom, dad, its Ace, I won't be back for a few months, too long to explain, I see you soon" and the line cut off.

Rose recognised the voice, but she couldn't figure out who it was from, there wasn't many people she had met here, having only been in the country a few days. She shrugs it off and focuses back on her work.

With her father's laptops allowed access to government files she could easily bring up information about the family and business that was not public information.

As the check ran through the database, Rose looked at her college work. English. Though she was already out of school, she could choose her specific subjects. English and languages, business and art and design were her chosen subjects, this was her final year for completion. English schools finished at sixteen and then college for two to three years, depending on the course and then university was the final step if you wanted too.

She had already completed half her work and was now working towards her final grade but with the move and everything else, her focus wasn't on anything, not even the security work.

It was only when the alarm went off for someone trying to break in that grabbed her full attention.

She watched from the dining room as the team worked together to apprehend Michael, it took a few minutes and he never stepped foot in the house. This allowed them to see the flaw in their setup and correct them quickly.

Three hours of work and searching and Rose got up to take a break, she wandered outside and passed the guys, giving each of them a drink.

Two weeks passed and nothing happened, everyone got into a routine, Ryan was enjoying it the most, getting the opportunity to go to parties and wear normal clothes aside from his work gear.

But there was also a downside to it, he left school six years ago, and now at twenty-two he had to go back. No one knew about Ryan, so he had to register and act like a school kid, even the teachers didn't know, the less people the better.

When he returned and had to do schoolwork, everyone else made fun of him, but Rose was nice enough to help him, by completing some of the work for him. She was surprised to know how American schools gave out homework and the subjects they covered. It was nothing like England.

Scott and Mr Mathews became friends easily which made protection a whole lot easier, so much that Mr Mathews invited Scott to a football game, soccer. Mr Mathews father was English, so he watched the games often,

Leighton had been around Lara, she owned a fashion company, one of the top places to work in fashion in California.

Leighton spoke about Lara and how she was like his sister Joanna before she died. Joanna wanted to go into fashion and would always drag her big brother about, she was like a sister to him.

The guys watching over the property enjoyed themselves, they got bored at times, but Mr Mathews allowed them to use the pool if they wanted and being things to do whilst on duty. If it looked highly protected, no one would try to get in, but technically that's what they wanted, so they could catch the guy.

Rose got an alert on her phone and saw it was from the front gate, when she opened the camera, she saw some girl trying to open the gate and then give a lousy attempt at climbing over.

Rose checked her gun; she was allowed a weapon for protection purposes and only that.

Walking out the front door Tommy and Damien join her, "Isn't that the girl from two weeks ago when we first came to the house?" Tommy wondered.

Rose shrugged, "Don't know, they all look the same to me".

A girl in six-inch heels, and a skirt so short you could see her thong trying pathetically to climb over the gate.

Walking up to the gate Rose stares at this flustered girl, "Can I help you?" she questions.

The girl huffs and glares at Rose, she was scrutinising her outfit choice. Rose didn't care, she looked like a punk rocker and it didn't bother her.

"Who the hell are you? And where is my boyfriend?" she screeches. It was so loud it would break glass if she got close enough.

"Tyler isn't here" Rose says.

The girl laughs, "Tyler, Acey is my boyfriend".

Rose almost choked on the air around her, did she just refer to him as Acey?

There was so many comments that could be made but Rose held back.

"Um, Acey isn't here, he's not going to be home for a few months in fact".

The girl gasps way over the top and Rose rolls her eyes.

"Wait till Acey hears about this" she screeched again.

Tommy winced at the sound.

"Who shall I say called?" Rose asked, she was probably going to forget but asked anyway.

The girl straightens her body and sneers "Tell them, Victoria called" and then she turns and struts away.

Rose turned to head back into the house, she truly had no words to say about what just happened.

"Don't let her on the property" Rose tells Tommy and Damien who were stood at the front.

Rose was still doing a deep dive on the family, there was multiple search links to cover, the government intel didn't always have all the information.

All that was shown was the family business', Lara's fashion career spanning thirty years and her life form a model to designer to businesswomen. Her clothes had been on runways across the globe and starred in the best magazines too. What had Rose liking Lara more was the models used for her clothing, they weren't size zero, the range of body sizes was amazing and Rose like Lara more.

Mr Mathews big corporate business was on international one, starting out as an architectural engineer, creating some big buildings across the globe, and now owns multiple investments in them too.

When she looked for public information on the family, it was only Tyler's social media that was widely public, but everything else was private, their lives online more hidden than most which was good in that aspect, but it also meant that the person sending the notes were close or once close to the family.

The police records had a different story, Lara was clean, Rose expected that. However, Richard Mathews had his own secrets. Arrested in both juvenile and young adult life. From the age of sixteen Mr Mathews was arrested for robbery, underaged drinking, theft, assault. He did some time for them, but since then his life has been quiet. Rose didn't suspect anything from there.

Dominic had already done a deep dive on the boys, she needed them cleared as soon as possible, and again nothing unusual came up despite Ace with his gang affairs.

English was finally complete after two weeks. She read over her work, changing any mistakes and the uploaded her assignment online.

Everyone returned at around six and Rose packed up ready to head home. The guys were going to stay until ten, but Rose wanted to head home.

Lara walked into the room and greeted Rose "Heading home?" she questions.

Rose nods, "Yeah, I'm getting hungry" she states.

"You and your father should come to dinner one night, as a thank you for everything you've done for us already" Lara said.

Rose shakes her head "There's no need for that, were only doing our job".

Lara smiles, Rose was a good girl, always busy, she wished her sons would have an interest in work and school like she does.

"I read the contract, your only supposed to protect us, but you're doing more than that, you befriended us, learned things about us, took an interest in our lives, but your also trying to figure out who is doing this, which is definitely not in the contract, it's a job for the police but they aren't doing anything" Lara says.

Rose shrugs her shoulders "We do what we can to protect the people we work for".

She was about to leave when she remembered "Did you get your message on the answering machine?" she asked.

Lara nodded, "Yes, a shame you can't meet him, but I guess it's a good thing, one less person to worry about".

Rose smiles. "I guess, but for a mother, you always worry whether your child is in danger or not regardless of their age or if they are near or far".

Lara was impressed with Rose, girls her age didn't really grasp the concept, until they became mother's themselves.

"With that attitude, you'll make a great mother one day, your own mom must be proud".

Rose frowns a little at the mention of her mother, but she plasters on a smile "Yeah, she must be" said with a hint of bitterness in her tone, Lara didn't pick up on it.

Saying her goodbyes, Rose head outside and put her books and laptop in the car, she wanted food and to explore the town a bit before heading home. Two weeks and she had no idea where anything was.

Grabbing her board and double checking her bag which had her purse and phone in she texts her father to let him know she was leaving.

The town lights were on, day slowly fading into night. People eyed Rose as she skated through town, they were curious, never seen the girl before on a skateboard.

Halfway down the main street, Rose stopped outside a takeaway shop; fish and chips and her mouth watered at the thought.

She hoped they were true British fish and chips; she didn't realise how much she missed the seaside meal until she opened the door and the smell of chip fat hit her senses.

The bell dinged above the door and a lady stepped up to the till. "Good evening, what can I get you?" she asks. Her English accent clear as if she had only just left the country.

"Chips with curry sauce please" Rose spoke without even looking at the menu.

The women at the till smiled, a fellow brit. "I haven't seen you around before, just moved?" she inquires.

Rose nods, "From Manchester".

She smiles wider, "My husband and I moved from Brighton".

The lady went and got Rose food and she paid before leaving the shop, board in one hand and tray of chips covered in curry sauce in the other.

Putting the board on the ground Rose heads towards a park she saw on the way into town. Sitting on a bench she listens to the quiet night as she ate her food.

As she finished, laughter filled her ears. Three girls and two guys were heading Rose's way. When they saw her, she recognised Tyler and two of the girls; Tara from a few weeks back and Victoria who was at the house hours earlier.

They stop in front of her and Rose raises an eyebrow, "I thought you were with Acey?" using the nickname she had for him.

Victoria's posture stiffens under the hold of the second guy.

"Who is Acey?" he demands to know, his voice full of anger.

Victoria glares at Rose before turning to the guy and in a sickly-sweet voice "No one baby, just a guy who tried to get with me, but I told him I was with you".

She grabs his face and kisses him before he could argue the point. He forgot about the other guy and focused on the kiss.

It made Rose want to gag. She didn't stick around. Hopping back on her board, Rose headed home, the ride back was silent, except the wheels rolling over the concrete as she moved.

She jumps of the board and kicks it into her hand when she reached her house steps.

Laughter filled her ears was she walked inside. Leaving her board in the hall, Rose walks into the living room to see something that had her covering her eyes in disgust.

All nine guys, including her father were sat in their boxers, and only their boxers. Stuffing their face with food and holding a beer in their hand, yelling at the screen when Liverpool scored against Manchester United, and cheering when their team scored.

When Liverpool one upped their team four-three, anyone under the age of sixteen did not want to be in the house, let alone the room. The therapy Rose is going to need now after seeing that.

She startled the guys when she walked further into the room "So this is what you do when I'm not in the house" not wanting to look at any of them as they were practically naked.

"You're back early" Damien states.

She raises a brow in question, "It's past ten o'clock, what time did you expect me back?" she asks.

"Oh" was all he had to say.

"I honestly don't care what you do, just clean up the mess" she says and walks into the kitchen she was hungry again.

Cold pizza was in the fridge from yesterday afternoon, she had only eaten half an hour ago, but she was hungry and what the stomach wanted the stomach got.
