Once again I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off. Just another morning. I roll over and turn off the beeping. 7:00 again.

I roll out of bed, not bothering to clean it up. Sulking over to the closet I pick out an oversized flannel and black jeans. After quickly changing I get my things together. I knew I would have to enjoy all the time I had left here. This morning was a bit warmer than yesterday so when I finally make it outside, there's no blast of cold air. The sun shining down on me felt warm and the crisp autumn air had a particular smell. Maybe it was just the dirty smell of the city but the air had a stink to it this morning.

Reaching the cafe I open the door to find a few other people getting ready to open up. Lindsay is cleaning off the tables and I run up and hug her from behind.

"Woah! What's this for!?"
She turns around and hugs me back.

"No reason" I smile and head to the register.

My only job for now was the refill the display shelves. It didn't take long and before I knew it, it was 8 and the doors opened as a few people walked in. We had two registers and I manned one of them. others worked the coffee machines and the mini ovens.

We worked and talked for a few hours. I loved this job, the customers were always so nice and I met the most interesting people.  Not long passed when the bell on the door rang as a man walked in. He walked to the register next to me as I was helping another woman with her order.

I looked up to realize the man was looking at me. He was the same person who had bumped into me the night before! I was getting nervous but I wasn't going to let it show. The man ordered, got his coffee, and left. Of course, it was nothing. People came in here often. I probably just didn't recognize him before.

An hour passed when a loud bang came from the street.  Everyone looks in it's direction to see a group of people with guns sweeping the streets and shooting at those in their way.

Everyone inside started to panic. I freeze in fear. The customers rushed out the doors and my coworkers fled into the alley behind the building.

Not even a minute later the few people in the front of the group of attackers were blasted with a beam. The avengers had shown up.

I watched in horror as the group moved closer to the cafe. The rest of the avengers moved in and were fighting the assassins off.

I knew if I needed to I could fight but it had been years since I had even practiced. Hydra had never come this close to finding me.

I remained frozen. At one point Tony glanced my way noticing I was still in here as the hydra agents were getting closer. I watched as Captain America or Steve nodded and started running my way. That's when they opened fire.

Time seemed to move slowly as I watched Tony and Steve try to deflect the bullets and said bullets crashing through the glass of the windows. There must have been at least a hundred bullets rush in. All I could do was put my hands up and squeeze my eyes shut.

Time stayed still. I looked around me to see the bullets frozen in the air. Then I looked around and see it was not time that was frozen, just me.

I dropped my hands and the bullets drop to the ground. Steve and Tony are still staring at me, but they whip back around towards the hydra attackers as they all run towards me.

That was my signal to run. I suddenly snapped back into my reality.

Suddenly my paranoia didn't seem so much like paranoia.

I ran to the back of the cafe and out through the doors. The alley was dirty and there were dumpsters and wire fences littered throughout them.

Without hesitation I jump onto the dumpsters and climb the fences, only leading me down more alleys. I hear the sound of a machine and look up to see Iron Man fly over me. I duck and hide beside a garage bin. It smelled awful but it was better than being caught.

I make my way back to my apartment making. sure I wasn't being followed. I crept up the stairs passing a few people. Cautiously I opened and locked my apartment door. I kept a gun under a plant next to the front door, so I pulled that out. Slowly creeping around my apartment I did a sweep to be sure no one was waiting for me.

Once I knew I was safe I sat down and sighed. All my plans needed to change. I would go into work tomorrow and get my last paycheck. I needed all I could get to make it far enough. I would need to be in and out quickly. Then I would get home and finish packing my things and leave that night.

I started to get my few belongings together, packing some clothes and a few other small things I had. It filled a duffel bag and a small backpack. The backpack would need to be packed later because I would still need some things tomorrow.

I laid down in my bed and stared at the ceiling for what seemed like hours before I finally fell asleep. They were getting close, too close, and I couldn't let them get me.
