Next Evening,

Ahaan is made to sit on the double sofa dressed in an electric blue Kurtha and white pajama. Though the engagement is private his parents made sure the two were dressed as per the occasion. Ahaan's father sat with him on the single sofa, he held two velvet box.

Ahaan smelt a whiff of strong lady's perfume and he looked up. His mother entered and with her is Rifaat. Ahaan's jaw dropped, Rifaat looked stunning in simple yet elegant off-white and red lehenga, it has sequin beads. The simple dupatta resting over her head. White and red bangles adorned her wrists. She looked no less than a beautiful bride. Ahaan forced himself to look away, this is all pretend, he mentally said to himself.

Ahaan felt butterflies as Rifaat is made to sit beside him, his heart fluttering. Her knee accidently hit his and Ahaan smiled.

'Here beta!' Mr. Qazmi opened a red velvet box and forwarded Ahaan a ring. Mrs. Qazmi held Rifaat's hand and forwarded it towards Ahaan. Rifaat had her head lowered. As Ahaan held her hand, Rifaat upped her lashes and their gaze met. Rifaat winked at him, Ahaan smiled and slid the ring into her finger.

Ahaan blushed as Rifaat slid a ring into his finger. He admired his ring as his parents clapped. Mr. Qazmi hugged Ahaan while Mrs. Qazmi hugged Rifaat.

'Thank God, the rings fit.' Mrs. Qazmi exclaimed in relief.

'You can remove this if you want.' Ahaan said as he and Rifaat stood at her doorstep. Rifaat looked the small gold diamond ring glistening on her ring finger and then up at Ahaan.

'I don't want to.' She smiled at him. Ahaan looked at his own ring, she looked at his finger.

'If you want, you can remove it too.' Rifaat said looking at his ring.

'Why will I? I am living my school dream.' Ahaan said. Rifaat smiled, Ahaan leaned against the door and looked at her.

'What?' Rifaat blushed under his gaze, he folded his arms across his chest and he smiled, his gaze still on her.

'We are the world's first pretend fiancés.' Ahaan smiled. Rifaat nodded looking at him.

'You are looking very beautiful.' Ahaan said. Rifaat blushed lowering her gaze. Ahaan extended his hand and held hers, this time he didn't hesitate. Ahaan subconsciously has accepted Rifaat as his real fiancé.

He kept looking at her as he brought back of her palm towards his lips. Rifaat blushed harder as he kissed the back of her palm.

'Good night!' he smiled.

Slowly, Rifaat looked up into his eyes, 'Good night.' she said. Ahaan left her hand, he walked backward towards his apartment, his gaze still on her.

He waved her good night, she waved back.

A deep red color adorned Rifaat's cheeks and a shy smile on her lips as she closed the door and leaned against it. She looked at her ring finger, the ring shone brightly. She kissed the ring and smiled at her own silliness. She danced her way to the room. Strangely, she felt happier, lighter. Though she kept telling herself it is pretend engagement, her heart knew she has accepted Ahaan as her real fiancé.
