"Dude. Stop staring." Zac deadpans. "I am not staring." I mumble back, my eyes narrowing at the sight of Indiana placing her hand on 'Alec's shoulder as her head leans back and she laughs at something that moron said.

"Really? You have been looking at her all throughout lunch. The girl is going to freak out if she finds out you have been looking at her like some creep." Zac says as he leans over the table and flicks my forehead, getting my eyes off Indiana and making me turn and glare at him.

Zac O'Brien. My best friend for some reason, who has seen me through thick and thin and has managed to keep up with my bullshit for almost two and a half years now. Zac is probably one of the only people who I talk to and trust more than I trust myself. He has seen me through hell, lets me punch him on bad days, and has always stopped me from doing shit that could've caused me to be in prison by now. I guess the only reason I am probably in school and not expelled by now is because of him, though I would never admit it. The guy has a bigger ego than Jupiter.

"I am not staring." I say, through a glare. "Yeah and Mars doesn't have a president." He scoffs, as he munches on one of his carrot sticks, leaning back in his chair. "It doesn't. You idiot." I hiss. "It does. We are just yet to find him." He argues, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Whatever." I roll my eyes, before looking at Indiana again. "You are going crazy." Zac whistles silently. "Am not." I grumble.

Indy has been on my mind ever since we had stupid coffee and studied at that fucking coffee house. It's like all I can think of her and talk about is her. I have known her for what less than a week and she is already making me go crazy.

"You have been staring at her all lunch, and pretty much all our classes. You don't glare at her. You manage to talk to her like a normal human and you talked about her all weekend long." He lists of on his fingers.

"One. I haven't been staring... I have just been... Looking. Two, I don't glare at her because she tutors me and I don't need her running off since I want to play this semester and get you idiots to actually win, since you can't do shit. Three, I talk to her like a normal human, cause yet again she tutors me and I have am paired from an assignment with her which holds 30 percent of my grades, and I fucking need to get my grades up and being civil and working with each other is the only way this would work out. And last but not the least, I did not talk about her all weekend long." I deadpan.

"Sure." He mumbles, sarcastically. "Whatever." I grumble, my eyes going back to Indy. "There you go. Back to doing your favorite thing. Staring at Indy." Zac snickers. "Zac... I swear to god-" I warn. "Okay fine. Lets take your stupid reasons on being human to her. But that doesn't explain why you stare at her." He says with a corner of his mouth tilted up and a smug look on his face.

"Fine... I just simply find her... attractive." I admit and Zac smirks. "So does the rest of the guys in our school. Your point?" He asks. I groan and place my face in my palms, trying to hide the red color that has very embarrassingly taken place on my cheeks and neck.

"Holy shit. Austin Reed is blushing! I never thought I would see this day in my entire life!" Zac says as his hands start clapping excitedly like a three-year-old. "Shut up." I grumble as I remove my hands from my face, my blush a bit more controlled. "Admit it. You, Austin Reed, like our sweet little Indy." He says smugly.

"I do not." I deny. "And de-nail is a river in Egypt." He smirks. "Zac..." I say in a warning tone. "Fine I will let it go this time. But I bet in the next few days you will be coming to me for relationship advice." He smirks. "I will not." I object, just as the bell rings signaling the end to lunch.

♡♡♡

Here I am, after school and practice in front of Indy's house. Indy texted me and Alec on the 'group chat' she made and added us to right after school was over to meet us at her place instead of the library after my practice.

I ring the doorbell, then run a hand through my hair that is still wet from the shower I had, pushing the strands that are stuck to my forehead to the back. I hear a bark and then footsteps on the other side.

I know Indy has a dog, who is named 'Ace' I believe. I haven't seen him expect for the walks I see Indy take him on to during most evenings. Also, I saw Ace for two seconds when I came over for dinner, before the dog ran upstairs and didn't come back down after.

The door opens and Indy peaks her head through. "Austin. Hi." She grins sounding slightly breathless, I hear Ace bark from somewhere behind her. "Hi." I nod. "I see your back from practice. I guess I should be expecting Jay too then." She says opening the door open wider, letting me in.

I shrug, dropping my bag onto the side before removing off my shoes and placing them next to the other shoes that are lined up. I see a pair of Vans, which I believe belong to Alec. "Alec is already here. Upstairs in my room. He dropped me home and we hung out for a while." She explains once she sees me looking at his shoes. "Right." I nod, clearing my throat trying to clear the weird feeling in my stomach.

I hear Ace bark at me, from beside me. I kneel down in front of him, offering my hand to him to smell or lick. Ace barks before snuggling his face into my palm and one corner of my lips tilt up.

"Hey buddy." I whisper moving my hand up and rubbing his head. His tails starts to wag and he barks happily. "Your quite good with him. Usually Ace doesn't like people he hasn't been around for a while touching him." Indy says, impressed and my inner self high-fives itself for impressing her. Get it together man!

"Yeah. I actually had a dog, before I moved to New York City." I inform before getting up on my feet.

Before moving to New York City, I had a lot of things I don't have now. A mom, a younger sister, a family. Now it's just me and dad, and we barely even talk.

"Nice. What breed?" She asks. "A Great Dane. Her name was Luna. I had gotten her for my 11th birthday by my mom." I mention, avoiding eye contact. "Oh ok. What happened to Luna now?" She asks, almost hesitantly, just as Ace goes and stands by Indy's side.

"It was just the two of us. Dad had work and I had school. We couldn't have taken care of her properly, especially with moving and all. Dad gave her to our neighbor before moving here." I say. "If you don't mind me asking, where did you live before you came to New York?" She asks. "Boston." I answer simply, knowing I had told her way too much already.

She smiles at me slightly and nods. "Anyway, we should be heading back up. Alec is waiting for us." She says pointing towards the stairs. I nod at her as the both of us start walking up. She walks through the hallway, passing by different white doors before stopping in front of what I think is her room. My suspicion is confirmed right, when she twists the knob and pushes open the door, exposing a sky-blue themed room.

She steps in and opens the door further open for me. I take a step in, ducking my head slightly to avoid hitting the doorframe. My eyes move around her room; most of the furniture is either white or a light sky-blue shade.

There is a bed in the middle, with white comforters and some sky-blue small pillows on them, also Alec is on the middle of the bed, his legs dangling down as he scrolls through his phone. The walls are sky-blue and there are two good sized closets on one side on the room, next to a dresser and right in front of the window is a study table, with a white chair. There is a door in the room which I am pretty sure leads to the bathroom. The room's layout looks pretty similar to mine.

"Hey!" Alec says, once he stops us. I nod at him and Indy smiles. "Alright, before we start have any of you already read the book?" She asks.

I have with my mom, back when I was 13. Mom loved classicals and would read me and Gwen, my younger sister, classicals all the time. The Great Gatsby was one of her favorites and became one of mine too overtime.

Both Alec and I shake our head at the same time. "Alright then..." Indy nods.

♡♡♡

A few hours later, here we are, after a ton of researching we all found a copy of the Great Gatsby online on our laptops. All of us are in different corners of the room, reading the book online and highlighting shit.

I am on the bed; Indy is on her study table and Alec is on the floor. Ace came into the room somewhere in between and is sprawled on the bed next to my legs. "Ugh, all this reading is making my eyes hurt." Alec groans. I hear Indy sigh and my eyes dart to her. "I guess we should stop now. All of us can work on our book reports then meet up again and merge into one." Indy suggests. "Yep! Perfect. Now I am going down, hogging your pantry and playing games with Jay. Also, I am making myself feel home and having dinner here. Buh bye." Alec says closing his laptop, putting it in his laptop in his bag before rushing downstairs.

I mentally roll my eyes at Alec. I get up, careful not to kick Ace in his face before putting my own laptop in my bag and slinging it over my shoulder. "You can stay for dinner too." Indy offers. "It's fine. I have to be home anyway." I shrug, she nods and both of us walk downstairs.

She opens the door for me and smiles. "Thank you for coming over." She says. I shrug, "Thank you for calling me. I guess I will meet you tomorrow for tutoring?" I ask. "Yeah. Macy's?" She asks. "Sure." I say.

She nods and for a few seconds both of us just look at each other, lost in each other's eyes. My eyes land on her pink plump lips and I have the urge to kiss her for some reason. I clear my throat, removing my eyes off her before I do shit. "Um. See you tomorrow. Good night." I say, keeping my face blank though my heart is beating way to fast for my liking.

"Yeah sure. Bye. Good night." She says, a blush on her cheeks as she gives me a tightlipped smile.

I nod, walking down the front porch before walking into my house. Just as I am about to ring the doorbell I turn back to Indy's house and see her looking at me from her door. Her eyes widen and a blush coats her cheeks, at seeing me catching her and she waves awkwardly before looking away and then closing the door.

I shake my head, turning back to my door. And for the first time in probably years I smile.
