"This? Really?" Jay says with distaste as he looks down at his outfit. "Yes! You look perfect!" I say as I clap my hands with a satisfied smile on my face. "I swear you're the only one who thinks wearing a hoodie and jeans is perfect. Right Ace?" Jay asks as he looks at Ace who is lying down and playing with his toy next to my feet.

Ace looks up when he hears his name begin called, he looks at Jay before barking and going back to chewing the life out of his rubber toy. "It's just nice to see you in... normal clothes. A big change from your usual... bright costumes." I tease with a small nod, tilting my head slightly.

"I didn't even know I owned this hoodie." He mumbled. "I know. We found it after literally digging through your bright stack of costumes for a whole hour," I remind him with a small laugh. "Yeah yeah, whatever." He mumbles waving his hand dismissively.

"Now that you are ready, I will go take Ace for a walk before coming back and making dinner. Please, just don't burn down the house or any room." I tell him. "Sure, but don't count on it!" He says before making a peace sign with his fingers then walking out of his room and down to the living room, probably to play on his Xbox.

"Let's go for a walk, now shall we?" I say as I look down at my dog, Ace looks up at me and barks happily before getting up and running downstairs. I laugh and shake my head before walking out and rushing down the stairs and towards the front door where Ace is happily waiting for me.

I take his leash off the hook and attach it to his collar. "Jay I'm leaving!" I yell so that he can hear me. "Alright! Don't die on your way and come home alive and in one piece!" He says back and I roll my eyes. That's basically his way of saying 'Be careful'.

I open the door slightly shuddering due to the slightly cold autumn breeze. I walk out and close the door softly behind me before walking down my porch. I turn towards our 'new neighbours' house and I see that the moving truck is no longer there and most of the boxes that were in the yard aren't there anymore.

I look down at Ace who is practically dragging me to the footpath. I usually take Ace to Central Park or one of the dog parks close to our home, but today since I need to be home early to cook, I decide on just walking around the neighbourhood.

I walk on the footpath, passing by different houses that all look the same except for the various plants and flowers in the front yards. Ace is walking happily in front of me, his tail wagging and tongue hanging out.

"Indy!" I hear someone call behind me. I turn around and see Mrs Willow standing in her front yard, a watering can in her hand as she is looking at me with a smile. "Mrs Willow. Hi!" I smile as I make my way toward her house.

She smiles at me, before she spots Ace and her smile widens, if possible. "Ace. How is my little boy?" She coos at him and drops her watering can to the ground. She bends down and rubs Ace's head, causing him to bark happily.

Mrs Willow is a lovely lady in her mid-50s. She lived five houses away from ours and made the world's best cookies and sometimes I come over to her house and we bake together. Her husband was an ex-military man, who now sits at home, watching television while reading the newspaper, I don't know how he does it, but he calls it 'multitasking'.

She has a son who is around 26 and lives in Toronto with his family which consists of his wife and one little boy who is three years old. He comes over with his family, to visit during most of the holidays.

"How are Ryan and Jay?" She asks as she stands up. "Well, Ryan left for college and Jay, well he is just Jay," I say with a small smile. She chuckles and shakes her head before her eyes fill with excitement. "Oh, I just made some cookies today! I saved a box for you, gimme a second, let me get it," She gushes. I nod my head with an excited smile as she makes her way inside her house.

She comes back out with a plastic container in her hands. "Oatmeal and raisins, just the way Jay and you like it," She smiles as she hands me the book. "Thank you." I smile back. She then bends down and takes out a dog treat from her pocket. "And here is something for you, Ace." She grins as she brings it in front of his mouth.

Ace greedily takes it from her hands and swallows it without chewing. "Ace!" I exclaim. Mrs Willow chuckles before getting up. "I have to get going Mrs Willows, I have dinner to cook. Thank you so much for the cookies," I tell her politely. "Oh no problem. Tell your mom and Jay I said 'hi'." She says with a big smile, causing the corner of her eyes to wrinkle up.

I nod and wave her bye before turning and walking out of her front yard, and towards the footpath from where I went home.

"How is this?" I ask bringing up the spoon to Jay's mouth. He bends down and takes the spoon full of the pasta sauce I had just made. "Mhm. That's good," He nods. "Thank you," I smile happily before putting the spoon in the sink.

I turn down the stove a little so that the sauce doesn't end up burning before going to the sink where I left the boiled pasta to cool down a bit. I pick up the bowl before walking back to where the pasta sauce was cooking.

I place the boiled pasta on the counter and then turn the stove off. I stir the pasta sauce one last time before turning to get the pasta to put it in the sauce. "Jay!" I exclaim and slap his hand away when he reaches for a boiled pasta. "What?" He pouts as he nurses his 'hurt' hand.

"Don't eat my ingredients," I scold as I drop the pasta into the sauce. He huffs and looks away, his eyes glimmer when he spots the box of cookies on the counter table. "COOKIES! MRS WILLOWS COOKIES!" He exclaims before running off to the box.

"Oh no, you don't! I'm saving those for dinner tonight!" I warn him. "Oh, come on!" He groans. "Jay," I say threateningly as I look at him. "Fine." He mutters unhappily as he drops the cookie container on the counter again.

I smile in victory before going back to cooking.

"Damn, this looks good." Jay whistles, as he stares at the food which consists of red sauce pasta, salad to go on the side, some chocolate mousse and of course Mrs Willow's cookies. "I know," I grin happily, as I take the plates out from the cabinet.

Just then the door opens. "Kids, I'm home!" I hear mom yell. "In the kitchen!" Both Jay and I say at the same time. We hear footsteps, and then a bark. "Hey, Ace. How has my good boy been?" I hear my mom coo. I hear Ace bark again and my mom chuckle, I hear her footsteps as she walks in. "Wow... Honey this looks really good!" My mom praises as she comes stands next to me and her hand goes and rests on my shoulder.

"Thank you!" I smile. "Jay! You look decent for once!" She smiles happily as she looks at Jay. Jay scowls and looks at her. "Really? I look decent every day. I don't know what is wrong with you people," He mumbles unhappily before walking out of the kitchen with plates in his hands.

"Thank you so much for cooking dinner Indy. Now go get changed, our guests will be here in a few minutes." She smiled and I nodded. I removed the apron I was wearing, before rushing upstairs to my room.

I opened my closet and looked around, wondering what to wear. After going through various options, I ended up choosing a peach sleeveless jumpsuit with a denim jacket. I quickly change, and then I tie my curly mess of hair in a ponytail.

I put on slight lip gloss and a bit of mascara. Just as I'm putting my lip gloss back in my makeup bag, I hear the doorbell ring. I guess our new neighbours are here.

I quickly drop my makeup bag on my vanity table, before rushing out of my room. I take a glance at my room once more, making sure it's clean before closing the door and running downstairs.

I see my mom walk out of her room, wearing a blue colour sundress. She sees me and smiles, before gesturing for me to open the door. I nod, walking to the door, while she walks into the kitchen, probably to make sure Jay didn't eat all the food.

I open the door, a small smile on my face. But the moment I see the person in front of me, my smile drops and a look of shock and confusion takes place instead.

"Austin?"
