I woke up with a pounding headache and when I opened my eyes, I realized that I was in a strange room.

The room was painted in a dark shade of yellow and it was a large room. It was much bigger than my room, that was for sure. I looked around the room as I tried to stop the pounding in my head. I removed the sheet cover from around my body and saw that I was still in my dress from last night.

I creased my eyebrows in thought, as I tried to remember what happened last night. No matter how hard I tried, I came up with nothing. The last thing I remember was drinking one shot and then two and then three and then I stopped counting. I rest my head on the pillow and closed my eyes again.

Just then, I heard the room door being opened and my eyes pop open again. I looked towards the doorway and I saw Carson walking in. His eyes met mine and he smiled. "Kitten, you're awake." He replied. I looked at him confused.

What happened last night?

He walked over to the side of the bed and handed me the glass of water and aspirin that was in his hands. "Here, take this. It will help your hangover."

I took the glass and aspirin from him and take it. I put the glass on the bedside table and looked at him. "What am I doing here? What happened last night?"

Carson chuckled. "You got drunk." He said, stating the obvious.

"I know that Carson. I'm asking you what happened?" I rephrased.

Carson laughed this time. "Don't worry, Kitten. You didn't embarrass yourself too much." He replied with a mischievous smirk on his lips. "You just danced mostly. You stood on top of a table and danced and shouted. You were the attention of everyone at the party. They cheered you on as you danced and took shots. I had to cut you off though, but believe me, it was a sight to see."

I shrunk back on the bed and groaned. How can I have made such a fool of myself? I covered my face with my hands and closed my eyes. This is so embarrassing!

I removed my hands from my face and looked at Carson as I remembered something. "What happened to my friends?" I asked.

"They are fine. Someone took Jasmine and the guys home. After I took the shot glass from you--which you were none too happy about," he smirked at the memory. "I told your friends that I would take you to my house. I didn't know if it was wise to take you to your house in the state that you were in." He explained. Thank God he didn't, I thought to myself.

I put my hands on my forehead and rubbed it lightly as the headache was still there. "This hangover is killing me. I'm never drinking again." I replied. Carson walked over to a chair that was in the room and took up something. He then turned back towards me and handed me a T-shirt and a shorts.

"Here put these on. They're my mother's. She said you could have it." Carson said.

My eyes widen and I shot up in the bed again. "Your mother knows I'm here and about last night?" I asked in horror.

"Relax, it's okay. I explained everything to her. She understood." Carson said. I nodded my head and took the clothes from him. "You can't go home in that dress, so get changed. I'll be right back." As he said that, he turned and walked from the room.

I got out of bed and went into the adjoining bathroom to take off my dress. I looked at myself in the mirror. My hair was a mess and my dress was rumpled. I slipped out of the dress and decided to take a shower. I felt sticky and I was hoping that a nice shower would help my hangover.

After I took a shower, I put on the T-shirt and the shorts that Carson had given me. They were a little too big for me, but they felt much better than the dress I had on. I looked at my face in the mirror. The bruises were showing as my makeup was washed off in the shower. I went back into the bedroom and searched for my purse. I found it on a chair and went back to the bathroom with it. I dug inside for my concealer and applied some on my bruise marks. Satisfied that they weren't visible again, I replaced the concealer in my purse.

I entered the bedroom again and sat on the bed. I saw an old guitar leaning up on the closet door. It had the initials, C.G.K, scribbled on it. Before I could inspect it, there was a knock on the door. I answered and Carson came into the room.

"I see you look much better." He observed as he walked over to the bed where I sat.

"Not really. I'm still having an headache." I respond, then pointed to the guitar. "Is that yours?"

Carson looked in the direction I pointed. "Yeah. It's been a while since I used that. I didn't even know it was in here."

"What does the 'G' stands for?" I asked curiously.

"Gershard." He said simply.

"Gershard? That's a very unusual name." I said.

"I don't use it, because I don't like it." He said.

"Well I like it. It's a very nice name." I replied.

"I hope you won't start calling me that." He warned.

I smiled teasingly at him. "Maybe I will."

"Kayla, you better stop." He said glaring at me, but his lips was tugging up into a concealed smile.

"Stop what, Gershard?" I asked innocently, the smile never leaving my lips.

"Oh, you asked for it." Carson said, then stepped closer to me. I got on the bed quickly to escape him, but I was too late. His hands were on my sides in an instant and he began to tickle me. However, because of my quick movements and Carson's hands tickling my sides, I felt a sudden pain in my side.

The pain that shot through my stomach was instant and I hissed in pain. I bite my lips to stop myself from crying out due to how sharp and painful it was.

Due to my sudden reaction, Carson stopped tickling me and looked at me. "Kayla?" He questioned in a quiet voice.

However, I could not answer because the pain has become unbearable. The pain ripped through my stomach and I started to feel lightheaded from its intensity. I was now writhing with pain and I felt my eyes stung with tears. I blinked and the tears rolled down my cheeks.

After a short while, the pain began to subside. I looked up at Carson and saw that he had a shock and confused look on his face. I knew the questions were going to come next. "Kayla, what just happened?" He asked, his voice soft and gentle. His eyes losing its playfulness completely.

"It was nothing." I replied.

"That was not nothing." He said, then his eyes focused on my stomach. "You were in pain as soon as I touched your side." Without thinking about it, he lifted the T-shirt up a little. His eyes became wide and I closed my eyes. There was nothing I could say or do now.

"Kayla, what the hell happened to your stomach?" He demanded.

I didn't say anything. I knew exactly what he saw and there is no way I could explain it. My stomach had black and blue bruises on it and I know that by now, there were some that had now turned dark.

"Tell me Kayla and I want to hear the truth." All the emotions that I had bottled up, was now suffocating me. Every pain and hurt that Allan caused me, washed over me and fresh tears began to roll down my cheeks. I curled myself unto the bed and just cried.

I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't sleep because I was terrified of Allan. I was haunted by terrifying nightmares of Allan night after night. Each one was more terrifying than the last. I couldn't keep it to myself anymore. I had to tell someone.

I felt the bed dip as Carson came unto the bed beside me. He wrapped his arms around me and bring me close to him. "Shh, it's going to be alright." He whispered into my ear. I then felt him kiss me on the top of my head.

It seemed like hours had passed since I started crying when it was just mere minutes. After a while, I stopped crying and became silent in Carson's arms. I felt safe in his arms. Protected. I wish I could stay like this forever, but I knew I had an explanation to give.

I shifted in Carson's arms and he removed his arms from around me. I shifted to a sitting position. Carson used his fingers to hold my chin gently. He turned it, so I looked up into his eyes, which were soft with concern. "Kitten, who did this to you?" He asked softly. His blue eyes staring intently into mine.

I dropped my eyes to the bed. "It was my stepfather." I confessed quietly.

I heard him intake a sharp breath and cursed under his breath. "How long as this been going on?"

I took a deep breath and told Carson everything. I told him how my mother married him just so he could help us financially. I told him how he did not care about us from the beginning and I told him how he would get drunk and hit me. When I was done, I became a rollercoaster of emotions again as the tears stream down my cheeks.

"I was afraid to tell anyone, because I was afraid of what he would do to me." I finished.

Carson used his thumb to wipe my tears from my cheek. "I'm sorry." He whispered, before pulling me into his arms again. He absently rubbed soothing circles on my back. "It's going to be okay. I'm not going to let him harm you again. I promise." He replied, pulling me closer to him.
