Over the next few days, the members of the pack seemed to grow to accept Aiden, Mark, Lisa and Rian. I even spotted Logan - one of the guys I'd talked to a little - flirting with Lisa during dinner. I got a few strange looks, not all of them friendly, but soon everyone got used to seeing Aiden and I holding hands and similar PDA. I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it didn't really matter.

Gail and Mark were going strong even though they'd only met a few days ago, and I even saw his mark on her neck. They both seemed happy and were never seen apart. I'd been told that that was a common case for newly found mates.

Dad was holed up in his office trying to find some sort of connection to who these rogues - or rogue - was. I hadn't seen much of Dan either, since he had his Beta duties. He sent me a few brief smiles though, when I wasn't around Aiden.

Rian was a little mad that we were forced to take part in the extra training that Dad had set up. He constantly complained about his sore muscles, but when a girl who'd overheard flirtatiously told him she could massage them for him, he shook her off awkwardly and shut up about the subject. It was weird.

It was currently Saturday, and I was sitting in the living room watching TV with a few others. I wasn't sure what exactly we were watching, but it was interesting enough that I hadn't fallen asleep yet.

"Do you wanna go and do something today?" Lisa suddenly asked from her spot beside me. I'd thought she was as absorbed in the film as everyone else, but apparently not.

"Like what?" I questioned. If she mentioned anything that involved a lot of exercise, my automatic answer would be no. I was already tired out from the extra training we'd had to endure, especially since I hadn't been training every day when I stayed with Aiden.

"I don't know - we could just go to the mall or something", she replied, her eyes flicking from the TV screen to me and back again.

"Sure, why not?" I answered, standing up and dusting myself off. Aiden was busy playing soccer with some of the male pack members outside, and as much as I would have enjoyed seeing him all sweaty and shirtless, I'd opted to stay inside and watch this movie.

"Great, just let me get my purse", said Lisa, and I followed her up the stairs. I gathered my own purse along with my phone and switched my slippers for vans.

Once outside, I quickly spotted Aiden and some other guys where they'd set up a makeshift playing field. "Aiden!" I yelled, knowing he'd be able to hear me. "I'm going to the mall with Lisa, alright?"

He looked doubtful, but nodded hesitantly after a moment of thought. "Be careful, though."

I rolled my eyes but smiled to show him I understood. Lisa and I got into the car and drove off in the direction of the mall.

Apparently Lisa just wanted food, so after doing a bit of window shopping we headed over to the food court. There was a little pizza place so I sent Lisa up to order for me. I didn't really care what I got as long as it was pizza.

There was tables all around, but only a few of them were occupied. I noticed a little family at one, the mother wiping sauce of her little boy's face with a napkin. I smiled at that. In another corner there was two guys who appeared to have been looking at me, but I couldn't be sure because they quickly shifted their gazes. I frowned; they didn't exactly look friendly. I brushed the thoughts out of my mind when I saw Lisa returning with our food. She handed me a paper plate with a slice of pepperoni pizza and I thanked her.

We ate quickly, making small talk. Lisa teased me about my relationship with Aiden, and in turn I inquired about her and Logan. She informed me that they were just friends, and were waiting for their mates. I sympathized with her; although I didn't know what it was like to not have a mate seeing as I found mine right away, I could understand because Dan used to frequently complain about him not finding his before I turned eighteen. I sort of wished he and Lisa had ended up together.

I couldn't help but look over Lisa's shoulder every now and again at the two men who I'd seen before. At times I caught them staring at our table with slightly sinister expressions, but I didn't want to be paranoid - maybe that was just what they naturally looked like. I didn't recognize them from anywhere, which only increased my apprehension. I could tell they were werewolves, but oddly I didn't get a distinctive scent from them that would tell if they were rogues or not. Maybe it was because we were in a fairly busy public area.

When Lisa and I were finished eating we stood up together and deposited the paper plates in a nearby trashcan. "What should we do now?" She asked, wiping her hands on her jeans.

I shrugged. "Why don't we just go back home and watch movies or something?"

She grinned, flashing her white teeth. "Sure."

I smiled back at her and we exited the mall. I checked over my shoulder to see if the creepy guys were still there, but surprisingly they were gone. I frowned, sure that I'd seen them just a minute before.

"Hey Lisa," I said, walking alongside her on the way to the parking lot so that we could drive home. "Did you happen to notice two guys in the food court like, staring at us?"

"No," she replied in confusion. "Why, did you?"

I swallowed. It probably didn't mean anything. "No."

She shot me a strange look, but seemed to accept it and we continued walking. We reached the parking lot in no time, but as we headed towards the car, I stopped in my tracks when I noticed two bulky figures leaning against the front.

My sudden halt caused Lisa to stop too, and she turned to me in worry. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

I shook my head. "Look." I pointed at the men in front of our car.

"Shit," said Lisa. "Do you think they're there for us, or did they just get lost?"

I snorted. "Lisa, this is a parking lot. You can't get lost. Call Aiden and the guys."

She nodded, fishing out her cellphone. She dialed Aiden's number first and it rang for a moment before his familiarly sexy voice filtered out. "Lisa? Are you okay? Is Perri okay?"

I almost smiled at the note of worry in his voice, but then I remembered the now-advancing creepy guys and realized that he actually had a reason to be worried.

"Yeah, we're fine, but these two wolves were waiting for us by the car and now they're coming closer. I can't get a scent off them and I don't know what to do," she said in a panicked tone.

I looked left and right and decided that maybe it would be worth it if we tried to run. We couldn't switch into our wolves unless we were out of sight, and unfortunately we were in a public place where there were humans around.

"Get here as soon as you can," Lisa rushed and then hung up abruptly. Her phone immediately started buzzing again but she just declined the call and switched off the device.
The two wolves were closer now, just a few metres in front of us. They stopped, though. I felt like I was too frozen to move, and from the look on Lisa's face, she was too. She gave me an expectant look, and then her voice spoke in my head. I hadn't known we were close enough to do that yet, but apparently we were.

'We need to run. When I say go, sprint as fast as you can away from here. We won't be able to get to the car so we'll have to leave it, but maybe we'll have a chance if we're somewhere where humans can't see us shifting.'

I simply inclined my head in a positive response. I looked at the two men again and noticed that both of them were really bulky, which wouldn't be helpful in a fight, even if we were in wolf form. The only advantage I would have would be my Alpha blood, but there was a small chance these two guys had high rankings in werewolf society as well.

One of the guys had a nose piercing which didn't suit him at all, and the other had a white scar that traced from the top of the left side of his face to his chin. If those didn't scream tough, I didn't know what did.

"Perri Liatree..." Piercing hissed, leaning forward slightly. "Fancy seeing you here."

I cringed, wondering how he knew my name in the first place. Lisa stared wide-eyed between me and the two men. I was actually fearing for my life right now, but I didn't want to show it, so instead I raised an eyebrow defensively. "Yeah, well, we've got plans right now, so if you'll excuse us -"

Before I could finish my sentence, the men shared a look, and Lisa screamed 'go!' into my mind. And I didn't hesitate, dashing off after my best friend just as Piercing and Scar lunged forward.

My footsteps thudded on the concrete of the parking lot as I followed after Lisa, who entered the mall again without a second thought. I was confused for a second, but then I realized that she was aiming to lose them in the crowds of humans that were inside.

I took a risky glance over my shoulder and tried to speed up when I saw the top of Scar's head behind a lady with a bunch of shopping bags and a toddler on her arm. Lisa hopped on an escalator and started skipping steps with me in tow. I knew there was another exit up on the first floor that led to a different street from the ground floor. We would be able to get to an open space easier, but I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not at this stage. I hoped Aiden wasn't too far away.

'Come on,' Lisa hissed in my head. She elbowed her way through the crowds, ignoring several protests from the surrounding people. I ran as fast as I could in the little space we had, but I had a feeling that Piercing and Scar were gaining on us.

The exit was now in front of us, sunlight pouring in through the automatic doors as a man walked in, heading purposefully towards a hardware store. I pushed myself to go further, now wondering why the mall security hadn't stopped us yet. We weren't supposed to be running.

We burst through the doors and into a parking lot. There was an exit that led to a relatively quiet street; the other entrance was in the middle of town. Lisa grabbed my arm and hauled me along with her when we began to hear two sets of heavy footfalls behind us.

This all felt so surreal; who would've thought I'd be running from some crazy guys who probably wanted to kill us? Again, I hoped Aiden was close by.

"Stop!" Piercing yelled, and I almost snorted. As if that would happen.

We turned down an alleyway that led right into someone's neighborhood, and there was a set of park gates at the end. I didn't need the noise of confirmation from Lisa to know that that's where we were headed.

When we got there, I was starting to get a little out of breath. I mean, we'd run through the mall, out and down a street, through an alleyway, and now down another street, all at full speed.

The park had a set of wrought iron gates and inside it was just a grassy area with a few trees. You couldn't really call it a park; there weren't any swings, or even a set of monkey bars, and those were my definition of a park. But it was empty, and apparently that was a good thing, even if we were about to get mauled. I was actually surprised Aiden hadn't tried to use the mind link in order to contact us yet.

When we reached the centre of the park, I didn't even bother looking at Lisa to see what to do, I just shifted, my clothes shredding to pieces. I shook out my fur and then growled at the two men, who looked kind of surprised at my size. What did they expect? They knew I had Alpha blood because they'd known my name.

Lisa had also shifted beside me into her familiar chestnut brown wolf. The rogues in front of us glanced at each other once, then simultaneously shifted and lunged without warning. I managed to jump to the side, but it was Scar who had attacked me and he looked a lot more vicious in wolf form.

He growled and I did it right back, never one to back down from a fight. This time, I didn't wait for him to attack and instead I leapt forward, landing on his back. I quickly sunk my teeth into his flesh as he began to violently try and shove me off. I held on even though I could taste his blood in my mouth - which was what finally told me he was a rogue, although I'd had my suspicions before because no member of a pack would purposefully go after someone with Alpha blood without proper reason. And as far as I knew, I'd never met these guys before so I didn't have a chance to piss them off.

When Scar finally managed to throw me off, my back hit a tree and I let out an involuntary whimper. He gave me a wolfy smirk as he shook off his fur and advanced again. I would probably have a bruise for a few hours but it wasn't anything serious, so I snapped my teeth and waited.

He didn't take long to attack again, going for my legs. I jumped into the air just as he dived down and I ended up landing behind him. He growled before turning around again. He leapt forward and then back immediately, then repeated the move. I got fed up of his dancing and ran the last few steps forward just as he was about to step back.

Just like he had done, I went for his legs. I was luckier than he had been and got a hold of his front paw. I sunk my teeth in as hard as I could and then pulled back. He whined slightly before attempting to jump for me again, but before I could prepare myself a huge dark brown wolf leapt in front of me, not hesitating to jump straight at Scar's neck.

I instantly knew that the wolf was Aiden, since the sparks I usually felt when he was around were stronger than ever, and I also had an embarrassing urge to mate with him right there, which I was certain came from my wolf.

This was the first time we'd seen each other in wolf form because we'd never gotten the chance to go for a run and training was mostly done in human form. I wanted to ask how he knew exactly where we were, but that would be stupid since we must have left very distinct scents.

I looked over to where Lisa had been fighting Piercing and saw a blonde wolf that was obviously Rian snapping his teeth. Lisa was right beside him, growling lowly. Piercing had his hackles raised and was poised ready to spring. I looked away and decided to focus on helping Aiden.

It turned out I wasn't needed because he was standing over a non-breathing Scar with a slightly triumphant look on his face.

'Aiden?' I called out and he turned to me, looking as if he was smiling. He walked over and nuzzled his head into my neck.

'I'm glad you're okay.'

I sighed. 'Yeah, thanks for saving me back there.'

He pulled back and stared into my eyes. 'You know I would do anything for you.'

If I was in human form, I would have been blushing. I was about to answer when a whimper broke the silence, causing Aiden and I to quickly turn around. Rian was on top of Piercing, who was being forced to submit by Lisa. He soon did and Rian got off him. I didn't know what we were going to do since none of us had any clothes and I didn't trust Piercing to follow us all the way home so that we could lock him up. I mean, if I were him I'd bite my captor's ear off and leave.

'Don't worry,' Aiden said, seeing my expression. 'We brought spare clothes in the car.'

I nodded my head and Aiden sent Rian back to the car to get the stuff. Piercing lay on the ground, growling every now and again. He looked like he knew that if he were to attempt escape, he would be caught and killed immediately.

When Rian came back, he held a bag in his teeth, which he dropped at Aiden's feet. A bunch of clothes fell out and I quickly distinguished mine from the rest. Aiden told me to go and get changed first and the rest of them would watch Piercing, then it would be Lisa's turn and so on.

I went behind the tree and shifted back into human form, ignoring the slight pain in my back. The clothes consisted of a pair of black leggings and a red sweater. I didn't have any underwear but I'd be able to get those when we got home. I was glad for the soft grass since I had no shoes either. Aiden really needed to think things through when he brought clothes with him, although he was probably more fixated on making sure that Lisa and I were safe.

I stepped out from behind the tree and Lisa took my place. Aiden and Rian were standing beside Piercing in their wolf forms. I didn't want to go too close, because a rogue wolf was a lot stronger than an Alpha human.

Soon Rian went behind the tree, and then Aiden. I was slightly surprised because they didn't look like the types to care if people saw them naked. Not that I wanted to see that or anything. It was probably for Piercing's benefit because nobody wanted to flash him.

When Aiden came back, he sent me a quick smile before taking something out of his pocket. He told Rian to go and get a blanket from the car and then moved towards Piercing, who growled. Even though he was in wolf form and we weren't, it would only take a second to change and he was probably too injured to fight right now.

Aiden forced what turned out to be a cloth over Piercing's mouth and nose and held it there. It looked like it was as covered in chloroform as Piercing's eyes soon drooped closed and his wolf automatically shifted back into human form. I looked away quickly so that I wouldn't have to see his...parts.

What confused me was the fact that he hasn't put up much of a fight once he'd been caught. He probably could have overpowered at least one of us before go him again. I mean, injuring one person was better than none, right?

I knew I should be shaken up from the whole thing, but I wasn't. I hadn't been injured much and from the looks of it, neither had anyone else.

Rian soon returned and covered Piercing with the blanket. Aiden took out his phone and dialed my dad's number, telling him what had happened. Dad said he'd send someone to come and get Piercing and that once they arrived, we could go home.

Before too long, a sleek black car pulled up at the park gates and several bulky men who I recognized as pack warriors stepped out. They nodded one at us and picked up Piercing with ease even though he looked like he was twice Rian's weight.

When they drove off, Aiden took my hand and led me to an unfamiliar car since the Aston Martin was still in the mall's parking lot. It was parked beside where the pack warriors' car had been. Rian and Lisa got into the back seat behind us and Aiden drove off, heading in the direction of home.
