A sharp migraine flushed my brain with heavy pain.

I wasn't myself.

I was having these episodes from when I was little. I started to feel different. My blood was burning my veins with cold heat. My secret was hard to hide under the world's heavy breath. My future was on the edge of danger. I was no longer safe. I started to show my side effects. So much darkness, so much danger in my eyes. I was contagious and there was no cure.

I curse the day I was born.

Far away from earth, there was a place for people like me. Sharing my mother's blood was my first agony. Under her ground, laid deepest souvenirs as human. Under my future ground, forbidden memories and waves of dark secrets. We were different but yet, the same treasure, the same blood, the same danger in between.

"Hawk?" Jack took a sip of his beer. "You've been here for hours. I need you to go home and rest." I glanced at the TV as he forced me to do the right thing. "Are you having these episodes again?"

"I don't know." I took a sip of my milkshake. "The last time I had them was a few years ago at the forest. I was hunting with my dad. I don't really remember what happened. I was in the forest and the next thing you know I was in my bedroom." I paused. "Sleeping."

"Hawk." Jack started, quietly. "You have to do something about it. It's going to get worse. Soon or later, you won't have control of yourself."

"I feel like I'm in a scary movie." I sighed. "I'm scared, Jack. I'm scared." My voice trembled with pain. "Hazel needs to know the truth."

"You'll have to tell her the truth regardless, you're living under the same roof as her. She'll know your secret someday." Jack proved a good point. "She deserves the truth, at least."

"Hazel is making things harder by asking so many questions." I cited. "I want to tell her Jack but I'm scared to lose her. I don't know what's going to happen after I tell her the truth. Maybe she'll stay, maybe she'll leave. It's killing me, man." My words planted shreds of evidence inside my head.

"You can't think like that," Jack assured. "It's a lot to take in but you'll have to get over yourself and spread the truth. Your secret is not a game or a fairytale. It's a reality. Your reality." Jack paused as he gave me a friendly punch. "You can always count on me, Hawk, I know what you're going through and I can guarantee you that everything will be okay. You just have to believe it and learn how to communicate and control the situation."

Jack was a good friend but I felt like he was scared of what might happen to me in the future. I was the dangerous type. He knew it but at the same time, he decided to stay by my side and conquer my bad consequences with him. I was still Hawk Wale but therefore, I was someone else on the other side of another world.

My presence was anonymously scary.

"Jessica came and threatened me," I explained everything. "She knows half of the story and she wants to use that against me to destroy my relationship with Hazel." My teeth were clenched, my jaw was hard as steel. "She wants me back."

"Do you want her?" Jack mistrusted my loyalty.

"Are you kidding?" My brows arched in confusion. "Hazel is the only girl that I like. I don't want anybody else." I placed my hands on my face. "I don't want Jessica."

"What would happen if she tells Hazel?"

"That's why I want to tell her myself." My tongue clicked. "Before it's too late. I want her to know that--"

Ow! Ow! Ow!

"Are you okay, Hawk?" Jack sat next to me as he tried to calm me down. "Your eyes are glowing. They are turning yellow. Hawk, I need you to calm down and..."

"Hazel! Hazel!" I repeated over and over again.

A sharp vision burned my brain with a scary fire. It was more like a flashback dream. Jessica and Hazel were together. Jessica was driving and they crashed in a car accident.
Accident! Blood! Heartbeats!

"What do you keep saying Hazel's name? Your eyes are normal now. Do you feel better?" Jack kept slapping my cheeks continuously. "Hawk? Hawk? Can you hear me?"

"Yes, I can." I took a sip of my milkshake as I tried my best to explain what just happened. "It's nothing. I probably need sleep. My mind is playing tricks on me. I think I'm going home."

Route twenty-two, Route twenty-two, I repeat. (The TV caught my attention as I turned the volume up- Fresh news)

The reporter was stating facts of the current incident, live.

Two teenagers were found injured in the middle of the road, Route twenty-two, near Homeland University, an accident has occurred. The two girls were transported to Memorial Hospital. First victim, blonde hair, brown eyes, age of twenty-seven Jessica Halls and Brunette, Hazel eyes, age of Twenty, Hazel Brown.

Those two victims were injured. One of them might not make it, according to the accident.

                                                                             My Heart stopped.

                                                                                       ****

I felt like I was losing my mind, slowly. I just couldn't believe it. I was praying that Hazel could make it alive. The pain was knocking on my door. There I was in the hospital, waiting for a doctor to guide my heart. Waiting for a nurse to tell me Hazel's condition. Waiting, waiting and waiting. Hazel was the only good thing in my life. I just didn't want to lose her too.

Doctors and nurses were flying like birds in front of me. I was craving for answers but they didn't want to share any personal pieces of information with me. I was there. I was about to lose Hazel. I didn't know who was more in danger. Hazel or Jessica.

They both lost a lot of blood.

Deep down, I didn't care about Jessica. She wasn't important.

Hazel was unconscious in a hospital. I wasn't there to protect her. Jessica probably planned everything to kill Hazel. That was Jessica's fault. She was behind the accident. Questions after questions. I wanted answers. I wanted to know what actually happened.

My vision was real. My effects were getting worse. I was in danger.

Everyone around me was in danger.

Starting with Hazel...

"Hawk?" Tears flew upon Hazel's mother face as she hugged me tightly. "Hazel... Hazel... Hazel is..."

Hazel is what? Hazel is what? Talk, lady.

"Hazel is what? Mrs. Maria." I asked as I tried so hard to steal her words out of her mouth.

"Hazel is ..."

Dead?

Alive?

Hazel is what?
