"One-day boyfriend?"

Hyun Ae stared at Jungkook with confusion, but then she laughed and pinched his cheek.

"Aw... my Kookie has found a girl to date! Okay then, I can be your 'girlfriend' for you to practice with," Hyun Ae giggled, poking the tip of his nose with her finger.

Jungkook chuckled, and widely smiled at her, but soon Hyun Wook hit the back of his head. Hard.

"Are you crazy? That's my sister!" he said, and Hyun Ae once again slapped his arm.

"Oh, come one, Hyun Wook!" she grunted, then linked her arm with the younger one as they reached the car. "So... this lucky girl. Someone older or younger than you?"

"Older."

"Wow, you do really like older ones. So, you want them to call you by name, or maybe... 'oppa'?" she asked and turned to him. "Jungkookie oppa or Kookie oppa?"

Jungkook was at a loss for words and he was so flustered after hearing it.

"T-The second one," he mumbled shyly. Both of them went into the car and took a seat next to each other.

"So cute! This girl is so lucky to have a cute, shy, and young boyfriend like you! I'll guide you whenever needed, okay?"

Jungkook smiled and nodded at her. She hummed as she looked outside the window, without noticing him watching her.

This girl... is a fool.

*One hour later...*

"Wah! This place is so... HAH!" Hyun Ae cheered as Jin parked the car. She was the first to hop out of the car with excitement. "Urgh, come on everyone! Quick!"

"Noona, calm down! The park won't go anywhere!" Jungkook shook his head as he stepped out and reached her.

"But time does!"

"Noona-"

"Shh! You're in practice, right? Just call me by my name," Hyun Ae reminded him.

He was still hesitating, so he took a deep breath before he spoke.

"H-H-Hyun Ae ah..." Jungkook called out.

"That's right," she smiled and placed her hand against his cheek.

"Can we... take a photo together?" he requested shyly, still nervous.

"Of course, why not?!" Hyun Ae said, and got into a proper position beside Jungkook before he pressed the button.

After taking various group photos, Hyun Ae clapped her hands together, getting their attention on her.

"Come on, let's buy the tickets!" she said, and all of them began to walk towards the ticket counter.

Jin, being the eldest, led the group as he asked for seven adult tickets, and once the price was told, Jungkook stepped forward.

"I'll pay for everyone," Jungkook said, holding his wallet as he cleared his throat.

"Oooh JK~" the rest wooed at the maknae's sudden attitude change.

"You're so cool," Jimin smirked, as the maknae passed the ticket wristband to him.

"I am cool, hyung," Jungkook smugly smiled, holding two wristbands as he walked towards Hyun Ae.

"H-Hyun Ae, give me your hand," he asked, a bit mumbling due to his nervousness. Hyun Ae smiled and put her hand up toward him.

"Thank you," Hyun Ae whispered after he fastened the band. And that was when she began to ask him. "Wanna hold hands?"

"W-What?"

"Duh. When you're on a date, I think you should hold hands with her, right? Don't be nervous, it's just me."

*****

"Don't be too late, Kookie! Make sure my sister is safe!" Hyun Wook reminded Jungkook as he was stepping out of the car followed by Hyun Ae, while the others were saying goodbyes to her.

"Oh, come on! I'll be fine!" Hyun Ae sighed, and rolled her eyes as she closed the door.

The car then left the quiet park area. Jungkook then guided Hyun Ae as he led the way toward the river.

"So... should we walk over there?" he softly asked, grabbing her hand as they stepped onto the paved pathway alongside the river.

And before forgetting, he turned around to Jimin behind him. "Hyung, are you okay?"

"I'm here to make sure that both of you are fine, so just act like I'm not here. I'll keep an eye for both of you," Jimin said assuredly, putting up two thumbs up and beginning to keep a distance between himself and the other two, giving them the privacy they needed.

"Noona, how are you feeling today?" Jungkook began to ask as they walked down the path.

"Happy. Extremely happy," Hyun Ae sighed happily.

"I'm glad you felt that. Even though at the end of the day, we would part ways."

"The best for both of us," she muttered, and walked over to the railing beside her, staring down at the river. She looked around and somehow felt glad that there was almost no one in the park other than herself, Jungkook, and Jimin.

Well, it was almost eleven at night anyways.

"I heard that there's going to be lots of projects after this," she suddenly asked.

"We always go through those like normal days. It's normal for us. But it won't be normal now, without you," Jungkook said, leaning against the railing beside her.

"Nonsense. Before we met, everything was fine right? So, without me, it'll be superly fine. Like your old days," she smiled and tilted her head back.

"Wanna know why I've decided to move to Seoul? Because I was worried about you a lot."

Jungkook went quiet as he stared at her, and then he let his head hang lowly and looked at his shoes.

"We grew up together. Even though we were so young back then, I was like... I already know everything about you. You were... the shy type, and I always am there for you. Remember the audition?" she asked, letting out a soft giggle.

"You brought the flyer for me," he smirked. "And we went there together. You registered the audition for me... Noona, how can I forget about that day? It kickstarted everything for me."

"I was like your manager at that time. After you passed the first level, phew... You clung to me as people from different agencies gave their cards to you. I still have those cards though, but it's in Busan," Hyun Ae paused, as she stretched out her arms.

"Then you didn't make it through the second level, I cheered you up and you never give up. Ended up trying out Big Hit after- wait, you never tell me that you went to see RM's underground performance."

Jungkook chuckled and turned to her with a smirk.

"Because it was at night, and I didn't want to bother you. Imagine, you were with me that night, and you were watching his show, without knowing that in the future he was going to be your boyfriend-"

"S-Shut up!" Hyun Ae grunted, crossing her arms, and looked back at the river as she continued. "Anyways, after you left, I made a promise to myself, that I would study hard so that I could move to Seoul, just because I was worried about you. Then my dad enrolled me in a cooking academy in Canada at a young age. Dad bought me the Nova House, and I graduated at 18, looking for a shop... that's in your agency area because I just wanted to be close to you."

"To think back, it has been... more than a year since the day we reunited?" she sighed heavily, then she crossed her arms on the railing and dug her face into it. "And now we're going to be apart again. How I wish you were not an idol."

A soft breeze blew through the night, as Jungkook watched her like that for a minute or two. Then he sighed and cleared his throat.

"Hyun Ae..."

"Manners," she mumbled, still not looking up at him.

"Hyun Ae..."

"I said manners-"

"Park Hyun Ae!" Jungkook suddenly called out, and Hyun Ae suddenly stood up, feeling a bit annoyed that he didn't use the honorific with her.

"Kookie, that's rude-"

Her eyes went wide when Jungkook pulled her in and kissed her.

She was speechless and froze in her spot. After a while, he pulled away slowly, his hand traveling up to her neck.

"I... This feeling had been with me since our young days. Ever since I left you at the train station for this dream, I promised myself," he halted for a quick breath intake. "That I will pursue my dream just like what you wanted. I will sing while you're watching me. And when we meet, I wanted to say..."

He paused again, then he cupped her cheek with his hand as he proceeded, "that I loved you since the day we first met, our younger days. Knowing that it might be hard to look for you by myself with my busy schedule, I've requested the staff to do so. Because I still want you."

"But I was so scared when I saw you again at that time. I thought 'I don't think she would accept me', so I just kept it in... until today. But don't get me wrong! I'm happy to see you with Namjoon hyung! Because you are the happiest when you're with him. So am I. I love seeing you happy."

Hyun Ae had lost her words. Somehow, her heart broke at his words.

"You... liar," she staggered, her breath becoming unsteady as she kept on hitting his chest. "You... liar. W-Why did you tell me now? W-W-Why did you never tell me when we were younger, huh? So, all this while... You're hurting. Seeing me happy with someone else..."

"No-"

"Kookie, I am so sorry! I'm a stupid girl! I should've noticed you-"

"And let you lie to your feelings just to make me happy?" Jungkook shook his head and wiped a tear away from her cheek. "Hyun Ae, no. I want you to be happy sincerely. I don't want you to force your feeling on me."

Tears began to come out more, and so was Jungkook. He pulled her into a hug as she continued to cry.

"Urgh... this is so hard. In others' stories, childhood friends always ended up with each other. It has always been like that! But why not us?" he asked, sniffing hard.

"Those are typical plots. We had to be different than others," Hyun Ae sobbed and she pulled away from his hug. "Kookie, look at me. For whatever I did... I'm sorry."

"No, don't be, noona. Don't be sorry," he whispered, placing a kiss on her forehead. "But I want to make sure of something. Whatever happens... We're still friends, right?"

"What are you talking about?" she laughed through her tears, and then she took a step closer to him. "Remember? Whatever happens, you will always be my..."

Jungkook smiled, absolutely knowing the answer, so he straightaway answered, "Baby Kookie."

They weakly laughed as they kept on sniffing. Hyun Ae ruffled his hair playfully before he leaned his forehead against her.

"Noona, I have another last request," he sheepishly asked, grabbing her hands and staring at them.

"Well, since there's another hour, basically I'm still your one-day girlfriend. What is it?" she asked, placing her fingers on his chin and lifting his face to her.

"If... if you really had been following me..." he paused, scratched the back of his head, and bit his lips. "There was this one scene from an old movie... Where the man and his girl..."

Hyun Ae was a bit confused at first, but as she remembered it back, she knew that she had turned red.

"Ah... the... kissing scene?"

He smiled and nodded. Smiling, Hyun Ae took a step closer to him, and no more words were needed as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Jungkook wrapped his arms around her legs and lifted her. Hyun Ae let out a chuckle as she was in a higher position, and looked down at him.

"I've always dreamed of doing this with you, Park Hyun Ae."

She caressed his cheeks for a while, fingers running through his hair, staring into each other's eyes, and as her long hair began to fall to one side, she slowly leaned down towards him and kissed him, with the passion and love that he needed.

And his dream finally came true. Though unfortunately, not all of it.
