IF I COULD think of one thing I'd have done differently in my life, it would have been deciding to walk to school on this fine summers morning; something I'd never done before.

Usually, I'd hop into my car and be at school in a matter of ten measly minutes. But no, not today, because today, I decided to do something much different.

It was an unusual situation, I know. But it wasn't exactly the walk-no matter how much I resented the very thought of exercise-that I'd wished I hadn't embarked on. It was him practically trying to run me over... that is what I wish I could erase, although that itself was a rather controversial matter.

Unfortunately for me, a nice and relaxing walk to school wasn't exactly the result that I had hoped and expected for because this was sadly reality. My reality.

Currently, I lay on the sidewalk, eyes as wide as saucepans as I experienced my life flash before my very eyes. My palms lay flat against the concrete floor as my eyes were glued to the blue sky above.

Not a moment later, a voice began shouting and cursing, and a pair of feet stood before me, my frightened gaze travelling upwards as the boy before me began to start talking-shout, rather.

"Are you blind? Deaf, maybe?" A voice growled, causing my eyes to snap up to the reckless boy who loomed over me, arms stuck to his sides, fiery fists of fury, clenched. My body was now in control as I stumbled up to my feet.

Eyes ablaze, I poked a pointy finger into the centre of his chest. "Me? I'm sorry, but you're the one who saw me walking across the road, if anything I should be the one to ask if you're deaf or blind." I exhaled, as I replayed the thought of him speeding down the road out of nowhere on that death machine of his.

"Unbelievable." He muttered as he removed his helmet, the back of his head now facing me as I looked towards his mangled bike, the metal had all scratched and the jet black body was marred with scars.

"You're paying for that." He spat as he turned around to look at me causing my eyes to widen twice as much as I realised exactly whose bike I had just ruine-I mean...almost been killed by.

Caden King. The-cue the eye roll-so called, wannabe bad boy of the Lakewood High. And let's not forget the most ruthless heartbreaker in the existent of heartbreakers. He was practically known for jumping from girl to girl like a monkey bustling from tree to tree.

It was disgusting really and it already had me holding a small dislike towards him. This situation only made that dislike grow rapidly.

"Hello, you still in there? Staring at me isn't going to help fix my bike." And with that my train of thoughts had crashed. I shook my head and my eyes found their way right back to him.

I swear, if looks could kill, then I'd be ten feet under by now. "As if!" I remarked, my arms crossed over one another, against my chest. "I was hardly at fault here." I defended.

"Oh really, well tell that to the bystanders that just so happen to be watching at this very moment." He smirked as I frantically spun on my heel, only to be met with several accusing looks.

Awkwardly laughing, I bit my lip in dismay. "Okay, don't worry, uh-I'll-I'll pay for it, how much did it cost?" I worriedly mumbled, turning back to face him as he smirked victoriously.

"Well babe, by the looks of it..." pausing to look me up and down he chuckled."-probably out of your price range."

As the words left his lips I was left standing shocked and utterly dumbfounded. Stuttering, I seized to utter another word and then broke out into a squeal.

"How dare you!" I screamed, daggers shooting from my eyes as I stabbed him a million times inside my head. "You-you-you arrogant ass." I spat, venom dripping from each word.

"Oh, did the little princess not like the sound of that?" He cooed, his dark brown eyes filling with amusement as he watched me become gradually more and more irritated.

"Don't call me princess. The name's Riley." I snarled through gritted teeth as my temper shot through the roof and into space.

"Hm, Riley." He mumbled, testing my name out, then proceeded to shake his head after several moments.

"I like princess much better though." Shaking my head I ran a hand through my hair, simply watching him open his mouth to speak.

"Wait a minute. Riley?" He asked as I nodded, not forgetting to include my signature eye roll.

"Yeah, that's me. Riley. What's it to you?" I asked grumpily.

"Nothing it's just, I knew that I recognised you from somewhere. You go to Lakewood, right?" He grinned as he mirrored my body position and crossed his arms across his chest too.

"Yeah. I'm in a couple of your classes, not that you'd care to notice." I snapped as I despised his arrogant behaviour, brushing a rough hand through my brown curls.

Silence enveloped the two of us as we remained in our own little worlds, before a short hum came from Caden, pulling me back down from the clouds and onto the ground.

"What?" I asked curiously.

"A thought just came to mind. Don't worry your pretty little mind anymore because I've decided to prove my generosity to you and let you off with this one, but-..." Pulling my hand to my side, I tilted my head in confusion.

"Let me off? But, why? I-..." Silencing me with his finger, he stopped me from uttering a single word.

Brewing in his eyes was cold and sheer amusement. "You didn't let me finish. What I was going to say was that I'll let you off without paying for the bike...I can get another one. But, under once condition." There was always a but.

His obsidian curls fell over his forehead as he threw his head back and stared at me through thick lashes. "I get to ask one favour of you and you have to fulfil that favour to the best of your ability." He smirked as he walked back towards his bike.

"And what exactly is that favour." I asked him, my eyes narrowed into slits as he licked his lips amusedly.

"You're just going to have to wait and see, princess." Picking up the mangled bike that surprisingly could still move, he began to wheel it away, furthering away into the distance as I remained in the same spot, a mixture of confusion, nervousness and uneasiness swarming within me.

Throwing my head back in annoyance at the thought of the many possible favours that he'd ask of me, I ran my hands over my face in frustration.

"What the hell did I just get myself into?" I muttered to myself as I watched him walk away until all that was left was the outline of a boy.

"Nice one, Riley." Not only did I just get the blame for crashing Caden King's bike but I'm also going to have to do some sort of favour for him in order to get myself out of paying. Great.

Before turning on my heel and carrying on my journey, a sarcastic thought had crossed my mind.

Now I know why I've never walked to school before.
