~Brynn POV~

Screams, cries and g fire crackling around us were the only sound my ears were able to focus on. The hundreds of heartbeats slamming against chests in pure fear.

For years I had protected and served this pack under the oath I made to Deianira. As had the other five women around us. We had sworn to protect Kena, even it if meant risking our life. We never questioned it, as a Lycan we live to serve the queen.

I eyed the woman to my right, 'What are we waiting for Chloe?'

Her green eyes met mine. 'We keep our oath. We protect Kena.' She simply stated, her stare was hard and her face stone-cold. Chloe had never truly cared for the pack. She had cared for her oath to Deianira and she would keep that. Even if it meant dying for. She growled to the younger woman to our left, helping the children out of the burning houses. 'Where is Kena Sofia?' She snarled at the woman that returned, her clothes partly burned as she reeked of ashes.

Sofia shook her head, 'I have no clue ma'am. She isn't anywhere near the pack house.'

Chloe growled, shifting in anger as her brown Lycan towered over us. 'That stubborn Alpha is going to be the death of me. Stay together and find her,' She commanded and instantly my feet moved towards the burning pack house. My eyes reflecting the fire. 'Tanja stop helping the children and find your Alpha!' Chloe her voice yelled out from behind us.

'Where do we go first?' Sofia asked me, I shrugged I had no clue. My mind was utterly overwhelmed, I hadn't told anyone I had found my mate. I could only pray that Alora had made it out of the fire safely. Tara shoulder punched the door to the pack house, my instincts kicked in as I pulled her back right before a burning log from the ceiling fell down. Tara smiled, 'Thanks Brynn.'

I nodded my head. We needed to find Kena, fast. 'Go east.' I spoke, they all eyed me. I had watched Kena, and if there was one thing I was sure off is that Kena would save the others before saving herself. Just like any other Alpha would do. Although it would surprise you how many selfish Alpha's started to wander our world, leaving their pack in times of danger.

'This is pure madness,' Tanja growled as she finally caught up to us. 'Who would do this?'

'Better question is, why would someone do this.' Tara growled as she moved the logs and large pieces of stone out of our way. My senses were overwhelmed with the noises and the smell of burned wood was starting to give me a huge headache.

Sofia growled loudly as she barely dodged yet another wall that fell, we had to be quick. This building wouldn't last long anymore. 'And Chloe is just standing out there, refusing to make her hands dirty.' She then said.

She was right, Chloe refused to help anyone but herself. She believed keeping Kena safe until the time was right would release her from her oath. Deianira would be back to release all of us, Chloe being the daughter of a powerful Lycan made her stronger than us. Her commands were stronger than us, we were forced to obey.

In the distance I could hear a faint screaming and instantly my eyes snapped towards the sound. 'Listen.'

Tara eyed me, before her eyes widened. She growled as she shifted into her small grey Lycan. As fast as she was she rushed towards the sound with us hot on her tail. A burning log was blocking the door, I growled shifting as well. 'Tara wait!' I growled but it was too late, she barged right through the burning log and the door collapsed, locking her inside with the two people we heard screaming. Sofia and Tanja watched in despair. 'And now what?'

'Start moving the pieces out of the way. Lola follow me, we need to find Kena. Keep me posted Sofia!'

She nodded her head and I instantly rushed off, relying on my senses. We searched every room, we yelled out her name but nothing. Lola eyed me, 'What if she isn't even inside anymore?'

I frowned, Chloe wouldn't send us in here if she knew that. Right? Soft coughing got my attention as my eyes snapped towards the sound. In the distance I instantly recognized her, her black hair and icy blue eyes. Kena..

I rushed over to her, but stopped in my tracks as my eyes flew to the woman she was holding in her arms, Alora. Two others holding onto her shirt as they followed Kena to the exit.

Kena growled, her eyes glowing a bright blue. 'Are those.. Ly-' Lola started to speak but I cut her off. 'Kena what the hell are you doing!'

'Saving my pack.' She stated stubbornly, handing Alora to me. My arms burning as her skin came in contact with me. 'What are you waiting for! Bring them outside!' Kena growled, the power radiating of her surprised me. Lola hesitated before she moved to grab the two older woman behind Kena.

'Where do you think you are going?' I snapped, even though I was way taller than Kena in my Lycan form. Kena didn't back off as her eyes met mine. 'There are more back there.' She growled.

'Help us save Tara first, Sofia and Tanja are with her. The door is blocked and Tara is stuck in there with two others.' I pointed towards the way we came from. Without even thinking Kena rushed off, I knew Chloe would scold me. But I couldn't care less, Kena risked her life to save her mate and many others.

I rushed outside, the fresh oxygen from outside reached my lungs as I took a deep breath. Alora coughed loudly, I sat her down gently far away from the burning houses, instantly Aita moved to help.

Lola nodded her head at me, she wanted to go back in. A snarl startled me and instantly I moved my head to the side as a form of submission. 'What the hell are you doing!' Chloe snarled.

Anger boiled inside of me, but I kept my mouth shut. Even Lola refused to meet Chloe her eyes. 'Well?'

'Sheis saving our pack members, instead of barking orders like some kind ofmaniac.' A voice sounded, anger laced in the words she spoke. My eyes met Danias she helped Aita take care of the injured ones. Chloe her eyes burned withanger but she kept her mouth shut. 'You aren't so tough if you can't even put your own needs aside to save the ones that has provided their home for you.' Dani ended.

Chloe nodded her head, before meeting mine. 'Let's go inside. We have a pack to save,' She paused, eyeing the injured ones around us. 'And a very stubborn Alpha.'

Cracking and a loud bang startled us, the west side of the pack house had collapsed. I frowned, we had to be quick. I eyed Aita, 'Is the infirmary still okay?'

Aita nodded her head yes, 'Nimue put a protection spell on it, if we had seen this coming we would have protected the entire pack.'

Dani placed her hand on the back of her mate. 'It's alright Aita, make sure everyone gets the help they need.' Chloe spoke, before we rushed back. On our way we met Tara, leaning heavily on Kena. Tanja and Sofia holding the two girls in their arms. 'What happened?' Chloe asked, Kena sighed handing Tara over to Lola. 'She inhaled way too much smoke, besides I think her lung collapsed from barging through the door like a crazy person. She fainted on our way back.'

Kena turned to move back into the pack house, but Chloe grabbed her arm. 'No way little Alpha, you aren't going back in.'

Kena growled as she tried to pull her arm out of Chloe her hand. 'There are children in there.' She snapped.

Chloe refused to let her go. 'We will handle it. Take care of your pack, we will find them don't worry. We are much faster than you in our Lycan form besides we are with four. We don't need you for this Kena, stay here.'

Kena eyed me, before dropping her shoulders. 'Fine.'

Chloe nodded her head, letting her go. 'Let Aita take a look at your burn alright.'

We left Kena outside before rushing in. Within ten minutes we had managed to dodge the burning woods, the burning furniture before we finally reached the children, hiding in the library. I pointed at the ceiling, it wasn't going to hold much longer. 'Get them out now, as fast as you can.' Chloe commanded. We instantly moved, lifting the children up before rushing them outside.

It took us less than five minutes, but we got them out. I coughed up the smoke I had inhaled as I leaned on my knees trying to catch my breath. 'Where are they?' I asked.

'What do you mean?' Kena eyed me carefully.

Then four children rushed out, coughing before jumping into their parents arms. I growled, 'Where are the woman that saved you?'

The young boy eyed me, his face had black streams on his cheeks from the smoke and crying. 'They couldn't get out, they helped us out.'

I shook with rage and fear, Kena placed her hand on my arm. 'Let me help. You can't get them out yourself.' All I could do was nod my head as we rushed back in.

Kena immediately found Lola unconscious, she pointed at me. 'Get her out, I'll look further.' Numb with emotions I did what I was told to do, lifting Lola up carefully. Her pulse was incredibly weak, the black smoke made it harder and harder for me to breath normally.

Slowly but certainly we got them out one by one. Except for Chloe, I could barely breath. Yet I forced my feet to move forward, 'Brynn you are too weak to carry her out.'

I snarled, baring my canines at her. 'She is one of us, I need to save her.' Before she could stop me I rushed back inside, climbing the lodges, furniture until I reached the hall to the library, Chloe stuck under the a bookshelf and too weak to move it. Her eyes darted to mine, without a word I moved to lift it. Bit by bit I lifted it higher, high enough for her to remove her leg. She coughed loudly, as she forced herself to stand up. 'We are Lycans Chloe, move your ass.'

She chuckled softly as I retorted the words she always threw at us. 'I know you all will miss me even though I haven't been the nicest person to you all.' She leaned on me, I couldn't see my way back and Chloe barely moved. 'Chloe, walk. Please.' I breathed as I tried to pull her along. I eyed her, my heart sunk to my knees as I realized she stopped breathing. 'Chloe! Chloe!' I shook her body but she didn't respond, her heart barely beating.

I coughed, I hated I had to do this. But I needed to, so I yelled out. 'Kena! Kena! I need your help!'

The coughs didn't stop coming, it started to suffocate me slowly. Suddenly Kena appeared in front of me, 'Get her out of here first. Now.' I pointed to Chloe her body.

Without any hesitation Kena moved, picking up Chloe and rushing back out. I slid down the wall, shifting back. 'I am sorry Deianira..' I breathed, my vision became blurry as my breathing hitched in my throat. I knew I was going to die here, my wolf couldn't handle the smoke anymore. Slowly my vision became blurry.

Strong arms scooped me up, I opened my eyes meeting Kena. 'I told you, you need my help. But no, Lycans are incredibly stupid.'

I chuckled. I had to admit, I started to like Kena. Her strong, selfless character. 'Hang in there Brynn.. I will get you out.'

'Thank you Alpha.' I whispered before blacking out completely.

I shot up, the beeping from the monitors around me startled me. My hands roamed my body. I was alright? I was alive? Was it all a dream? I eyed the room in front of me. No one, I was by myself?

I forced myself out of the bed, everything seemed alright. How long had I been out? I moved towards the door, the scent of the forest hit my nose as a purr escaped me. I opened the door and stepped outside. My bare feet hitting the fresh grass. My eyes widened in shock. 'Where the hell am I?'

A chuckle sounded next to me. Instantly my eyes darted to the form to my right, sitting on a rock. 'You, my friend are in Statum Lunae.'
