Nick's POV.

"Miles, what are we doing here?" I question as he pulls up to Jason's driveway.

"I was going to tell you earlier but I figured you wouldn't co-operate so we agreed on not telling you about it." He says.

"Telling me about what? And who's we?" I ask.

"Sofia, Lilian and I agreed not to tell you that we were throwing a farewell gathering just for you." He announces.

Fuck me.

I hit my head against my palm repeatedly, "Dude, I don't want a fucking farewell anything seriously." I turn to look at him.

"It's not only for you, it's for us too, all you have to do is be here." He flies his hands in the air before getting out of the car.

I sigh restlessly as I exit his car as well, I spot another car in front, it looks familiar.

"Who's car is that?" I ask, still looking at the yellow Porsche.

"Shit, I think it's Carl's." He says, looking at the car.

Of course it is.

"Yeah, I'm not going in there." I cease my steps, Miles walks to stand in front of me.

"I know him being here also means Allison is here but Lilian must have invited them for a good reason." He shrugs his shoulders.

Reason or no reason, going inside that house would be like placing a deadly bomb on top of my heart.

"I'm sorry, man but I just can't do it." I nod off dismissingly.

"Do what exactly?"

"See her with him, it's already hard enough for me to just... see her." I admit. He places his hands on my shoulders.

"Look dude, I Know it sucks but sometimes we gotta own up to shit, bolting would actually show how weak you are and I know you're no pussy, so don't you dare act like one." He lectures.

His whole speech makes me chuckle.

I still can't believe I hated him once, now his like the best friend I've ever had.

"Okay, let's do this shit." I give in.

We let ourselves into the house without knocking, there are voices coming from the living room and that's where we head.

They're all sitting in a circle that consists of only four people, they all turn to look at Miles and I when we walk in. Makes me want to bolt already.

"The Man of the hour is finally here." Lilian cheers as she picks something that looks like a crown and literally rushes to put it on top of my head then she pecks my cheek.

Awkward.

"Thanks?" It comes out as a question.

"You're welcome, love." She showcases her best smile.

"What? I don't get a kiss on the cheek?" Miles whines to Lilian.

Lilian tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek but he turns his head and she kisses his lips instead. She hits his chest playfully and he giggles. I smile at them. my eyes lock with Allison's but of course she looks away.

This will not be awkward at all.

Miles, Lilian and I take our seats and boom, it gets awkward real fast.

"So where's Jason?" Miles asks to ease the tension.

"He went out with his new friends." Lilian responds, Sofia is busy on her phone and the so called love birds keep whispering bullshit into each other's ears.

"And Amanda?" I ask.

"We thought it would be awkward for Sofia and Jason if she came so we decided not to invite her." She offers Miles and I some brownies, we both pick one and take a bite.

It tastes like weed and flower.

"Were you trying to make space cakes?" I laugh at her attempt.

"Don't laugh, at least I fucking tried." She slaps my chest.

"So why the heck were we invited?" Asks Allison.

We all shift our eyes to her.

I was meaning to ask that same question.

"Because we are friends with you and Carl is your boyfriend." Lilian points out.

"Since when are we friends?" She questions Lilian's statement.

"C'mon girl, you went to my family's beach house not so long ago, so of course we're friends." Lilian raises her hands in the air.

"Just because I went-"

"Babe." Carl whispers to her, stoping her from finishing the sentence. I look away as I feel jealousy take over my entire body.

God damnit. She doesn't even like calling her stupid pet names.

"But seriously why did you invite them?" I whisper in Lilian's ear.

"No need to whisper, I know you're talking about me so if you have something to say just say it to my fucking face." Allison snaps.

I turn to look at her, our eyes meet again but this time she doesn't look away, mostly because she's angry about God knows what and she literally just wants to fight with someone.

"What makes you think I'm fucking talking about you?" I question, narrowing my eyes at her.

"Because what else would you be fucking talking about?" She asks, slightly raising her tone.

I knew it, walking into this house was a bad idea.

"I've said it once or twice and I'll say it again, not everything is about you." I bring myself to my feet, toss the plastic crown back to Lilian then I walk out of their little fucked up circle.

I head outside for some fresh air. I breath in deeply before breathing out.

I've recently discovered that breathing is the best thing about life and living, the rest is bullshit.

I hear the front door open and close behind me. I shut my eyes as I curse underneath my tone.

"I really don't feel like talking to anyone right now." I say honestly.

"Are you really leaving?" Her tone sounds brittle.

I slowly turn to look at her, "So you do give a shit after all."

"Are you or are you not?" She sounds candid.

"Allison-"

"Just answer it." She demands.

"Yes, I am." I answer her question.

"Why?"

"You asked me that last time and I answered it." I roll my eyes at her.

"It wasn't very straight forward." She pushes her hair back.

"I'm leaving because I want to, is that straight forward enough?" I ask as I turn to walk towards Miles's car, she runs up to me and stands in front of me.

I roll my eyes at her again, "What the hell do you want from me?"

"I want the truth, I want you to be honest with me just this once." She pleads.

"What truth?"

She takes her time to respond, she gazes at me.

"I forgive you." she says.

"What?" At this point I'm just confused.

"I forgive you." She repeats.

"For what?" I chuckle softly, pushing my hands inside my pockets.

"For calling our kiss nothing and making me feel like an idiot for liking you." She admits.

"Honestly, that was not such a big deal." I say.

"To me it was, Nick, I liked you a lot and when we kissed, I felt like nothing and no one could beat me out of that cloud but you just had to go ahead and call it nothing." She exclaims.

"I already said I was sorry." I shrug.

"Sometimes sorry ain't good enough." She whispers.

"Then what's good enough? You're dating Carl and I'm leaving town so let's just call it even and move on with our lives." I suggest.

"I can't do that." She shakes her head.

"Jeez, Allison, why not?" I almost whine.

"Because I think I'm in love with you." She whispers softly, I'm held back a little.

SILENCE.

I laugh, "What did you just say?"

The last time someone said those words to me, I almost killed myself when they left me all alone in the end. Plus, I think the only reason why she's saying this is because she ate one of those brownies and she's really high right now.

"I know it sounds crazy but-"

"Take it back?" I ask politely.

"What?"

"Take back what you just said." I repeat myself.

"Does it freak you out that much?" She asks.

"Yes, now take it back."

"No."

"No? Jesus, please?" My tone is not so easy and calm anymore.

"What?" My words confuse her.

"I don't want your love now take it back."

"Nick, I really mean it." She says, I take a step closer to her. I cup the sides of her face with my hands as I search her eyes.

"You don't-"

"Take your filthy animal hands off of her, asshole!" The so called boyfriend cuts me off.

Oh God, here we go.

"Filthy animal hands? Really?" I ask him. He looks pissed as hell.

"Yes, don't touch my girlfriend like that." emphasized on my and shit.

I scoff as I look elsewhere then back at him, Allison looks like she's too caught up in her own thoughts to be part of this conversation.

"I swear to God I'm not in the mood for this shit." I utter to myself.

"What?" He looks puzzled.

I don't know why but I grab Allison by the back of her neck and I crash my lips on hers, she gasps and quickly pulls away.

She's shocked and so is her boyfriend, I on the other hand, have a smirk playing on my lips.

I really want this asshole to throw a punch, I really do.

"You son of a bitch." He tries to come at me but Allison holds him back.

"He's not worth it, let's just go home." She says to him.

"Are you fucking kidding me? This asshole just kissed you and you're telling me to go home?" He flips, I cross my arms over my chest and pay more attention to them.

"Okay fine, he's all yours." She gives up and walks inside the house.

Okay, I was not expecting her to do that.

"C'mon tough guy." He takes his jacket off, "let's play." He comes up to shove my chest this time around and I stumble a few steps backwards. I sigh.

Punching the hell out of this guy can be too satisfying for me to stop and that's what I'm trying to avoid but it's like he keeps poking around my last nerve and I just can't hold it in for long.

"Someone has to put you in your place." He says.

"Which is...." I trail.

"Away from my girlfriend, you dumb fuck." He says in a duh tone.

I nod in agreement, "I'd really like to see you try though."

"Why can't you just accept that she's with me, She's mine, mine to hug, mine to kiss, mine mine mine." He literally tunes my temper in that childish manner.

That's all it has to take for me to swing a punch across his annoying face, it makes him stumble backwards and rub his cheek but he quickly recovers and walks back towards me, he punches my jaw which makes the inside of my cheek to bleed, I push him with a lot of force, he falls on the ground then I climbed on top of him, I start throwing repeated punches.

"Yes, fight, fight, fight till one of you dies." I hear Jason's voice remark in a very drunk tone, coming from nowhere.

I climb off of Carl and try to catch my breath. He stands up on his feet and looks at Jason, he has a nose bleed but I'm not going to tell him that.

"Were y'all fighting for a girl that you both haven't even fucked?" He laughs, pointing at Carl and I equally.

He's clearly drunk, he always speaks like that but why else would he talk to me.

"If you weren't such an asshole, you would know what it feels like to be into someone and not want them because of sex." Carl says before heading back inside the house.

At least he has common sense, I'll give him that.

"I can't believe you let that little piece of shit steal your girl." He grumbles.

"She was never mine to begin with." I say more to myself.

"She was, maybe you didn't just know it." He shrugs.

Was she?

Doesn't matter anyway, I'm leaving.
