💫GISELLE💫

Backing into the nearest corner, I watched as Angel replaced sorrow with pure anger. Rage steamed from his body as his chest and shoulders rose and fell harshly. The dark, cloudy, sad eyes that he once gazed with turned darker and red, even. A terror overcame me like no other, blaring alarms of warning as I watched a man turn into a raging beast.

"This is my fault!" He shouted as he beat on his chest. "Her death is on me!" Tears continued to gush from his eyes. "All those years she wiped my tears, listened to my bickering about non important things that I made big deals of. She needed me the whole time I was leaning on her like a fucking crutch. She died because my loads were too heavy for her to carry."

"No!" I tried stepping towards him, away from my corner, only to be shoved back into it.

"I fucking hate being here! I hate it!"

Angel picked up the chair we both sat in and threw it across the room. When it hit the wall, one of the legs broke off and ricocheted into the window. I gasped loudly, holding my chest, eyes widened. There was no stopping him. He picked up the next closest thing to him, a three-foot plant tucked away in the corner adjacent to the one I backed into. That, too, went flying across the room. Screams and moans and cries bounced from one wall to the other as Angel took his rage out on anything in his path. Hence the fact that I chose to stay in my corner. The noise must've gotten everyone's attention because, bursting through the door, seconds into him picking up the mattress, was Loki, Sevyn, Zack, V, and Maxine. The first thing they saw was the mattress flying in their direction.

"What the hell is going—"

I put my hand up for Zack to shut his mouth, darting my eyes towards Angel and shaking my head, hoping they'd get that he needed this. Hoping that they see, like me, that he'd been holding this in for far too long. Hoping they'd understand. They did. Sevyn ran to my side and hugged me tight. Tears formed but I refused to let them fall. The crashing sounds of guilt, regret, fear, anger, and so many more emotions filled the air. Finally, Zack got the idea to join him. It was crazy as hell watching him pick up things and toss them. Then Loki joined in, punching walls, kicking out the rest of the glass from the window. It wasn't long before we all screamed, cried, threw things, broke things, kicked things, helping Angel express whatever it was he needed to.

Ten minutes later, we were all laid across something, damn near hyperventilating, trying to catch our breath. I crawled over to Angel, who was sitting below the broken window staring off into space. I fell into his arms and caressed him as best I could. Staring off into oblivion, seemingly stuck and unable to come back to reality, I just rubbed him. Hugged him. And then finally, I closed my eyes and pressed my lips into his. The room grew still behind me. I felt their eyes. I felt their judgement. I didn't care. And neither did Angel. He responded to the touch of my lips immediately, meeting me halfway. Angel kissed me gently, not hesitating to invite my tongue into his mouth, clinging on to my body for dear life. This wasn't like the other times. This wasn't rough and aggressive. This was passionate and fulfilling. This wasn't lust. This was love.

"Who in the hell is going to clean this mess?" Zack laughed, trying to change the mood of the room, I assumed.

Loki laughed even louder. "Daddy dearest has this lovely black card—" Flashing a card between his fingers, Loki smiled from ear to ear. "It'll be okay. Just a little mess that a little money can correct. Now the other mess in the room, that's priceless. Can't put a tag on my bro's sanity." Loki began standing, followed by everyone else. Angel and I were still entangled beneath the window.

"Are you okay, Angel?" Vanessa asked in a very low tone. It was almost as if she was afraid to ask the wrong questions.

He took in a lot of air before answering. "I will be." Shaking his head up and down, he looked down at me with tight lips. "I will be."

I nodded in agreement, never taking my eyes from his. "Okay." I whispered.

"Okay."

DINNER WAS AMAZING. The chefs served everything from turkey, honey glazed ham, green bean casserole, stuffing, sweet potato souffle, and more. There were an ample amount of wine bottles dispersed on the large table that held all the food we could eat, candles, and beautiful décor. The entire dinner was filled with laughs, smiles, a few tears, and love. This was a group of people I could be myself around and find myself around, comfortably. This was a group of people that were starting to become family. This was the best decision we could have ever made.

"I love you guys." Loki was on the verge of tears after ending his toast.

"We love you, too", "Much love", "Don't cry dude", were a few of the responses we shot back at him. Randomly, Angel placed his hand onto mine, as it rests in my lap. I turned to look at him, winking and reassuring him with a light smile. He gave my hand a gentle squeeze, then stood.

"Okay, my turn." Glass raised high. "I just want to take the time to thank all of you for putting up with me. Accepting the asshole that I am, you know? I've found a relationship with each of you that I appreciate. What you all did for me today—"

"It's okay, Angel." Max hushed him. "We're here for you. We care about you."

"I know." He wiped the corner of his eye. Only to have to wipe it once more. "I just want you all to know I'm thankful. And it's all love. I love all of y'all." He finished, turning to face me and repeating. "I love all of y'all."

"Okay, Sap. Enough! Lets dance some of this load off." Vanessa stood, removed her napkin from her lap and grabbed Angel's hand.

Creating a makeshift dance floor off to the side of the dining area, they began dancing to Elvis's You're A Devil in Disguise. Vanessa sang along to the words as she twirled around Angel, bright and joyous in contrast to his gloom. His energy shifted. He wasn't as clouded as he usually was.

"You fool me with your kisses. You cheated and you schemed." Loki shouted.

"You look like an Angel. Walk like an Angel. What a perfect song!" We all laughed and joined them. Zack was my first dance partner as he outdanced me by the largest margin to exist. "You're the devil in disguise, oh yes you are. Devil in disguise!" We all shouted the lyrics in unison.

Switching partners, I ended up with Sevyn, she shook her body aggressively against mine. She was so much larger than me that I actually had to muscle up a bit to stick with her. I always felt that I could use her kind of confidence. As a plus sized girl, she exuded certainty in herself that I would die to have. She was a beautiful person. We switched again, me with V, who somehow picked me up from the floor and spun me in circles. That seemed to be everyone's favorite move for me. I squealed, praying she didn't drop me. She didn't. I wrapped my arms around her neck on the way down, planting a friendly kiss on her cheek. "You're the devil in disguise. Oh yes you are. Devil in disguise." I sang.

The song went off quickly and was followed by Ed Sheeran's Shape of You. I was passed to Angel, who greeted me with a warm smile. It was almost as if he was waiting for our turn. Watching his face light up like Christmas filled my heart with so much joy, I couldn't contain the giddy jitters that filled each limb of my body. He mouthed, "girl you know I want your love. Your love was handmade for somebody like me", as he gripped my waist. I reached up for his neck, conjoining my fingers behind it. He was too tall for me to wrap my arms around without him coming down a few inches or picking me up off the floor. I sway my hips from left to right as he moved to my rhythm.

"Boy let's not talk too much. Grab on my waist and put that body on me..." I sang aloud to the song, complimented Ed's raspy tone as I sang an octave above him. Angel pulled me in closer.

"Thank you for today." He whispered down into my ear.

"What are friends for?" I shrugged.

"Friends?" One of his brows rose high, leaving the other in a frown. "Right." He chuckled.

"Lovers and friends." I assured him, swerving my neck around and blinking dramatically to imply attitude.

"Friends don't do the things we do. Friends don't feel the way we feel. Lover."

"Angel."

"Giselle."

I giggled into his chest. When I pulled back to lock back in on his eyes, I noticed they weren't as playful as before. "We have no choice.'

"There are plenty of choices. Which ones are you willing to make?"

"I don't know." I lowered my head, eyes now glued to the floor. We danced to a completely different tune, pacing slowly across the hardwood of the dining room floor. Ed Sheeran's voice seemed so distant that I forgot the song was still playing. All I could hear was my own heartbeat.

"I'll wait then."

"Hmm?"

"I'll wait for you." Angel looked down at me with the most loving glare, piercing into me as my entire soul melted from a burning sensation that slowly became unbearable.

"I don't want you to wait for me."

"I didn't ask what you wanted me to do."

"Well, you should." I smirked. "Go ahead." Looking up from under my brows, I put on my seductive pout. "Ask me what I want you to do."

"Ok." He huffed. "What do you want me to do?"
