"Your majesty!", He turned his head at the call of his title finding two blurred figures approaching him. A bright smile took over his features as he waved at the two, warmth flooding his chest. He couldn’t see them, but he knew that they were smiling at him, the unmistakable soar in his heart gave it away.

“We bought you flower crown!”, Jungkook heard him say with enthusiasm laced in his voice.

"They were selling these crowns down the market. We saw them on our way to palace.", Jungkook heard her say, also noticing the blush that crept on her face, "They reminded me of you, your majesty."

Jungkook laughed looking at her endearingly.

"Didn't I tell you both to call me by my name?", he scrunched his nose, feigning annoyance, "Hmm disobeying King's order, brave."

He heard their laughs and let out a content sigh.

Then, he was plucking a coral peony from the crown and placing it on her hair, round the braid.

"Thank you, Jungkook. That's my favourite flower."

"That's why he gave it to you, idiot.", he heard the male figure say.

"Shut up.", she said, "Don't assume that you're the smartest!"

"I am!", he said, sticking out his tongue and backing away, "And you're just dumb, admit it."

She held up the tie of her hanbok before squinting her eyes and started chasing him.

Jungkook could only laugh, finding their banter always amusing. But remembered that they were running around in the palace.

It wasn't his duty but it was his habit to warn them so he called out, "You both stop before bumping--"

Jungkook woke up startled and searched for the surroundings as soon as he opened his eyes.

The dream felt so real, that he could hear himself say those words and listen to what he was told. He wondered why couldn't he see the faces of those two figures. Who were they?

Something in him said it wasn't just a dream.

"What the hell?"

"Since this soulmate system didn't work for mom, she despised everything about it. That's why Sasha and mom don't get along, everything's on mom, giving cold shoulder to Sasha, triggering arguments. Sasha never once fought back but I did still it doesn't change anything.", Hoseok said with a solemn expression, "And I'm tired of mom being insensitive and Sasha being so considerate. I can't think of my life without either of them. I'm so lost Y/N."

Your throat closed up hearing him and you instantly engulfed him in a hug, patting his back.

However, he pulled away in urgency and spoke, "Enough about me. You need to know about Jungkook."

"Hoseok, I don't think I'm ready to hear--"

He shook head, "Please listen, this once. Jungkook's initial hatred about the concept of soulmates started growing up when he saw mom, heard about what dad did."

"It's obvious, no one could blame him.", you spoke, understanding him, "But not everything works out the same way. That he should have countered that."

Hoseok laughed, "Jungkook has always been stupid..", he sighed "And very sensitive. Perceptive but not necessarily good at drawing conclusions."

"I second that."

"Jungkook loved Claire, but do you know what more he loved about that relationship?", Hoseok asked and you quirked brows in confusion.

"Though he would never admit, I could see right through him. He was so satisfied with the idea that he found someone whom he loved and that person wasn't even his soulmate. That justified his belief that soulmates are bluffs, pure hoax or if not he cheated through the system."

A chill settled into your bones, not finding any words to retort him, that what he told scarily made utter sense.

"So when Claire left him for her soulmate, his belief started to tumble, then again he thought he had the upper hand as long as he rejects his soulmate or don't fall for them.", Hoseok continued, "So him blatantly rejecting you when you both met for the first makes sense right?"

You smiled, knowing too well, "This and all the stupid things he did. I knew he was battling with something because he was so confusing. One moment I felt like he wanted us to be more and the next he'd be ready to ignore my whole existence. That's very Jungkook and his  stupidity at best."

Hoseok stopped smiling, looking at you hesitatingly.

You senses this and said, "Hoseok, it's fine. Tell whatever you're gonna say."

"Mom knew that Jungkook found his soulmate and of course didn't take it well. The night you spent at our apartment, I had to work at office till dawn hours because of the big project going live. I'll tell you what had actually happened..."

Hoseok had just left his office building, tired and with a killing headache, his mood always bad nowadays, blame Seokjin and his wrong spell.

His phone vibrated in his chest pocket again.

"Give me a break, goddamit.", he chastised opening his car door & throwing the phone on passenger's seat before heading home.

'Where are you Hobi?'

'Why is nobody picking up my calls?'

'Recieve the goddamn phone!'

'When you see this tell Kook to call me.'

Hoseok took a peek at his phone, reading those messages popping up on the screen that his mother was sending him.

Growing irritated as the time passed, he slammed the door to his apartment. He noticed two things.

One, a pair of sandals, assuming his brother brought home another girl  for his sexcapades. Or not just another girl but you because he saw your purse lying on the centre table which he remembered because he knew you had been gifted this one by Sasha.

Two, Jungkook sitting on the couch, looking fucked out, well didn't take a genius to get that he did and gawking at his phone dumbly.

"Why the fuck are you not picking up her calls?" Hoseok reprimanded, "Just ask her what she wants at this fucking hour and give me peace. She's been blowing up my phone."

Jungkook looked at Hoseok, eyes filled with uncertainty and moreover panic.

"What? Pickup your goddamn phone while it's ringing!"

Jungkook still didn't pick up the call & his mother decided to call Hoseok again, as if on some manual.

As Hoseok's phone started vibrating again, he gave that condescending look to his brother while picking up the phone, "This better be something important for you to blow up my phone like that!"

"If Kook picked up his phone, I wouldn't have called you. Where's he?"

Anxiety kicked in his nerves as he saw Hoseok glaring at him.

"What do you need him for?"

"He hasn't been answering my calls for last two days? This has been bothering me so I had to make sure I talk to him now."

Hoseok scoffed, "And does this even occur to you that your younger son may have a life of his own and doesn't always need to tend to your commands or act like your puppet?"

"Hobi!", both could hear their mother's voice, "This is not the way to talk to your mother!"

"Act like one then!", Hoseok pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing in frustration, "You couldn't mold me so now you're doing everything in your power to do so to Kook. And this idiot!", he looked at Jungkook, "Is in love with his soulmate but keeps on denying because of you!"

The gasp their mother let out was something jarring to Jungkook.

"He can't... hand him the phone this instant!", she ordered.

"So that you could patronize him again? No. I won't. I'm hanging up!"

"She's gonna call you now. Good luck with that.", Hoseok said walking towards his room, "I did the half work but knowing you, I know where's this is gonna end. Fucking idiot.", with that he slammed the door close.

Well, Hoseok was right. Jungkook was a fucking idiot.

You sat wordless, hands on your throbbing head.

"Y/N, say something please."

Sitting up straight you questioned him, "You sided his want to be with me while speaking to your mom, but your words to me in the morning doesn't make more of a sense at all now."

"I don't know Y/N. What I did, what i thought and what I said, I truly have no explanation.", Hoseok lamented, "You didn't say anything about Kook?"

"Hoseok", you sighed, "Your mother made him choose between me and her. Rightfully, he chose her."

Hoseok had a small smile on his lips, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"But", you saw his smiling wiping, "He could have chosen both of us, like you did Hoseok. You chose both Sasha & your mom, it's not fluid but it's working right."

"He didn't have to choose me because he never wanted me.",you said, "Thanks for the back story but my perception about him, didn't change, not even a bit."

"But Y/N--"

You help your hand to stop him and spoke, "Your mom didn't change right? She still wouldn't want us to be together."

Hoseok's heart grew heavier with each word you spoke.

Standing up you said, "I can't let that repeat again, he'd never....", your voice cracked, tear pooling in your eyes threatening to fall, "so save me from another heartbreak. I won't be able to handle."

As the door closed behind you, Hoseok let the tears spill as he sobbed.

"I made it worst."

And he blamed himself, again.
