Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Sitting on the couch of the living area, Luna stared at the wall clock above the television. It is half past 11; almost lunchtime. She played with her fingernails as she nervously waited for the doorbell to ring; for Grayson to pick her up for lunch.

The doorbell rang and Luna's heart skipped a beat. 'Calm down,' Luna thought. She didn't want it to seem obvious that she was feeling nervous. "I've got it, Nana." She walked over to the door and opened it. Behind the door stood Grayson. He was dressed in a casual gray button-up shirt and black pants; his hair was nicely swept to the left side. Luna couldn't help but think that Grayson is very handsome.

"After you," Grayson said. They got into Grayson's car and he drove off.

"I'm sorry for head-butting you last night," Luna blurted out, breaking the silence. "You grabbed me so suddenly; I just reacted."

"I apologize for surprising you like that last night."

"And I wanted to thank you for the night you took me home. I really appreciated it."

"It was my pleasure." Luna could hear a sense a smile without having to look at him. Feeling a little less nervous, Luna asked Grayson where they were going.

"You'll see," and Grayson kept driving.

Grayson pulled into a parking lot of what seemed like a park. "Here we are," Grayson said as he parked his car and unbuckled his seatbelt.

"I thought you said we were going to get lunch." Confused, but Luna undid her seatbelt and got out of the car after Grayson.

"We are." They both closed the door and Luna followed behind Grayson.

They got on the grass and deviated from the cement pathway. As they walked, no one said a word. Luna wondered where they were going. She looked ahead, in front of Grayson and noticed something in the distance. There was a big tree, whose branches hung out far and wide creating a sort of umbrella for everything below it. As Luna's eyes followed the tree's beautiful branches down to the trunk, she saw a wooden table, set for a meal and two wooden chairs.

"We are having lunch here," Grayson said as they reached the table. He pulled out a chair for Luna and she sat down.

"Wow," Luna said in awe. "This is beautiful." She was not expecting a picnic at the park underneath a beautiful tree. She thought they were just going to go to a restaurant and order food.

Grayson opened up the box that was on the table and brought out several containers. As he opened them and laid them out on the table, Luna couldn't help but feel touched. She hasn't been on too many lunches with men, but the ones that she did were always so typical; meeting at a fancy restaurant or cafe in the city. Grayson opened each of the containers revealing fruits, finger food, vegetables, and some sweets.

"I wasn't sure what you would have preferred to I made some options." Grayson sat down.

"You made these?" Luna sounded impressed.

"Yes. I enjoy being in the kitchen."

"Wow," Luna said. "I'm surprised and quite impressed." She caught herself as she finished her sentence.

"Because I am a rich businessman, you probably assumed that I can't cook."

Luna felt embarrassed for what she had just said. She didn't want to judge, but it happened. "I'm sorry if I offended you."

Grayson chuckled. "That's alright, Luna. I understand why you would think that." He gestured for Luna to eat. "Please, help yourself."

Luna picked up some of the mini sandwiches and fruits and placed them on her plate. "Thank you for the food," she said before biting into one of the sandwiches.

"Thank you for this date," Grayson said.

Luna about choked on the sandwich when she heard the word "date". She started to cough.

"Are you alright?" Grayson opened up a bottle of water and handed it to her. Luna took the water and drank some to help with the coughing. "Are you okay?" Grayson asked again, worried.

Luna, after swallowing the food and water, took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself. "I'm okay. I'm okay." She slowly looked up at Grayson, feeling embarrassed about what had just happened. This was her chance to ask Grayson about what this lunch was for.

"So..." Luna started, playing with the sandwich in her hands.

"Yes, Luna?"

"Why did you ask me out to lunch?"

'Oh gosh,' Luna thought, her heart racing. Grayson put down his sandwich and looked at Luna intently.

"I wanted to talk to you about something."

'Okay.'

"Do you remember when you asked if I had a girlfriend?"

"Yeah." Luna recalled that night when Grayson drove her over to his house for the party.

FLASHBACK

"Do you have a girlfriend?"

"I don't have a girlfriend, but there is someone whom I'm growing an interest for."

The leaves rustled as a cool breeze passed by.

"I wasn't sure yet when I gave you my answer, but I am now."

"Huh?" Grayson was speaking vaguely, causing Luna to not grasp what he was trying to say.

"The girl that I was interested in back then, I realize that I like her—"

Luna felt this dread feeling overcome her. 'Is he confiding in me? Is he going to tell me about a beautiful girl that he is in love with and wants to ask me for advice? Why would he even need advice? Every girl falls for him anyways. Oh my gosh! Have I fallen for Grayson?!'

"Luna." Grayson's voice calling her name pulled Luna away from her thoughts.

"Huh?" Luna focused her attention back to Grayson.

"I like you."
