Julia^^

Adam's pov

Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up, drag my feet off the bed, and rub my knuckles onto my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn. I watch my legs dangle above the off-white carpet.

Waking up can be really harsh, especially if your dreams are better than reality. The saddest part of it is, though, that those dreams with my family can never be my reality. Then I am left with this lonely feeling of detachment, left to explore in the empty void of emotions, the only proof that I ever had the dream to begin with.

I slowly leave the bed as I walk off to enter the washroom. I went and stood infront of the mirror and just stared deep into my own eyes. No one would be able to say what's wrong with me, but I could see, those broken fragments of myself within my eyes.

For some apparent reason, today my heart was beating more rapidly than usual as I kept staring at the empty shell of the man in front of me. Something was different today. But I couldn't point out what.

Immediately, I splashed water on my face to calm my senses.

It was all mischievous tricks of my mind playing on me to make me more weaker than I am. To strike me more and break me even more. Even though, there was nothing left to break.

I couldn't let my mind ponder over this further. I had work to do. Meetings to attend. This was probably going to be the biggest deal our company would ever sign.

I needed to focus on that. Because this is the only way I reduced a tiny portion of my guilt. By giving away something to all those broken humans who had lost their family. And this is the only way I fulfilled a little of what my father wanted.

And so I took a quick shower and got dressed to leave on my way to the meeting.

------

I was walking straight to the room where the meeting was supposed to be held. A woman was guiding me whereas Julia was there by my side.

I was already a few minutes late thanks to my incompetent assistant giving me the wrong timing

Julia who was already scared, started running a bit to match up with my pace

"Sir. I am soooo sorry. I swear. They told me the meeting was supposed to be held at 2. They changed it last minute"

"I'm already annoyed Julia. So please shut up." Ughh. I should've fired herm

"But sir..."

Before she could continue, I took a swift turn to face her. She didn't expect it and so she let out a small scream. Immediately she covered her face with her hand as her eyes grew so huge that it could fall of it's socket.

"I said not now. I am already late. And I don't want any of your stupid excuses to make me more late. I am going to the meeting right now and you will go there silently with me, only to note down whatever is said. You don't say a word there. Understand?"

She frantically nodded her head, her mouth still covered my hands.

"Let's go," I ordered and turned to move

She immediately started moving along with me, her hand still covering her face.

"And uncover your face, will ya."

-----

The woman who was guiding us opened the door as me and Julia walked in. From what I could see, the meeting hadn't started yet as some people still did not arrive.

"I told you sir. We were given wrong instructions," Julia whispered.

I gave her a stern look after which she shut up.

Immediately, I started greeting everyone present there. Some old and some new business colleagues.

Everyone greeted me professionally with a stern smile at their face. Except one

I did not expect to see him. It has been years since I last saw him. Although he was my biggest rival once upon a time, he vanished in thin air in between and last I heard, he shifted all his business far away from where we were originally located.

As I approached him, I could swear I saw a flicker of a fear in his eyes. But I ignored it as I placed my hand forward as a greeting.

"Hello Mr.Draco Martinez"

Draco's pov

Ava was lying down on the bed, with Lia on her lap as she read out a story for her.

I couldn't help but stare at them and smile at the process. They looked so adorable together. My two girls.

I was watching them from a corner of the room. They didn't notice me standing there, all dressed for the meeting to be held today, as they were too engrossed within themselves

I slowly walked upto them and that is when Lia turned towards me.

"Dadaa," she screamed with joy as she jumped onto my lap. Ava was still on the bed as her upper body rested against the headboard. She smiled towards me and Lia

Putting Lia down, I bent ahead to place a kiss at Ava's lips, and as I did that, her cheeks immediately turned red.

I smiled at I looked at her all flushed out. My heart gained pace whenever I watched her blush because of me.

"Bye sunshine. You and Lia can go explore or do anything you guys want. I gotta go to the meeting"

With that, I was about to turn and leave when Ava called me out,

"Draco. Good luck."

----

I was sitting on my chair in the meeting, as me and the rest of the people were waiting for everyone to arrive.

There was some miscommunication which is why some where initially said a different time

I sighed as I grew annoyed waiting for everyone.

It was at this moment, when someone entered the room, someone whom I did not want to meet for a long long time. A person who had the power to destroy me

He walked in with a woman behind him, probably his assistant. Everyone immediately started greeting him but I refused to move from my position.

As he was done greeting everyone, he walked towards my direction as he held out his hand for me to shake

"Hello Mr.Draco Martinez," he said

I just stared at him for a little while, not making a single effort to greet him back. When my stance broke, I stood up and shook his hand,

"Hello, Mr.Black."
