Hazel POV

After spending two hours checking on patients, we finny finished the round. Once we finished, I built up the courge and walked to Alices' room to say goodbye.

I walked over to Alice and said, "I'm going to head home now, Alice."

Alice jumped off the bed and walked towards me, pulling me into a tight hug. "No, when are you coming back?" she said, looking up at me.

"I'm not really sure when I'll have a day off, but I'll be here on Saturday for sure. If I can, I'll try to come during the week, but it depends on my work schedule," I replied.

Alice looked a little sad, "Okay, Hazel. I'm going to miss you."

I kneeled down and hugged her. "I'll miss you too, Alice. I promise to come back as soon as I can, and don't forget, I'll bring you a present," I smiled at her.

She smiled back at me, "Wait, you have to say bye to my brother Aiden."

I cleared my throat and stood up, and Alice went to get her brother. She pulled him over to me, and I rose my hand, shaking his hand. It was the second time I had made eye contact with him today.

"Well, it was nice to meet you," I said, immediately looking down at Alice so I wouldn't give him time to respond. I backed away. "I'll see you soon, Alice. Bye," I waved at her as I backed away.

Alice waved back at me and said bye. I walked around and said goodbye to all the other children in the ward and then went to go say bye to the nurses. I was waiting for the elevator when someone called my name. To my surprise, it was Dr. Anderson.

"Miss Hazel, I'm glad I caught you. I just wanted to thank you for helping me today. The kids wouldn't have cooperated like they did if it wasn't for you," he said.

"It's no problem, Dr. Anderson. I love helping kids," I replied.

"I can see that. That's why I wanted to ask you something. I don't know if you have the time, but I was wondering if maybe you could help me. Teach me how you do it. How you get the kids to trust you. Teach me how to be a little more like you," he said.

I thought for a moment. "Well, I'm not sure how I can teach you that, but okay. Anything for the kids, I guess."

"Perfect, when are you free? I don't know if it would work with you, but I'm free in the evenings," he said.

"Well, let me see," I thought for a second. "How about Tuesday at around 6?" I suggested.

"That works perfectly. Is it okay if I give you my number and we can set a place?" he said.

"Sure," I replied, handing him my phone so he could enter his number. He handed it back to me, and I called him. His phone vibrated, and he looked at me. "And that's my number. See you Tuesday, Dr. Anderson."

He started to walk away. "See you soon, Miss Hazel," he said and walked down the hall.

I turned around, and to my horror, Aiden was standing right behind me. Did he hear my conversation with Dr. Anderson? I turned away from him and looked at the elevator.

Great, he was waiting for it too. The elevator door opened, and I walked in, and to my dismay, so did Aiden.

Once the elevator door closed, I felt trapped and felt like I couldn't breathe. I was in the back of the elevator pretending I was busy on my phone.

"My sister is really fond of you." I heard Aiden say. I looked up and saw him staring at me.

"She is such a sweet girl. It's too bad her family doesn't visit her often." I said and then looked away.

I heard Aiden sigh. "You're right," He said. Then, after a few moments of silencehe said, "Would you like a ride to the apartment complex?" he asked.

"No, thank you." I said and pretended to be busy on my phone again. Why was the elevator ride so long?

"Listen, Hazel, I'm sorry about..." Just then, the door opened, and I got out of there as quickly as I could. Unfortunately, he caught up with me. "Hazel, I'm sorry about yesterday, my friend and I..."

"Look, Mr. Jameson. I am not interested in your apology. You said so yourself yesterday, You are nice to everyone. But you don't have to be nice to me. I don't know you and you don't know me. So please, save your apology for someone who wants to hear it." I said, and I turned away and walked away from him.

I made it home around 5 p.m., and boy was I exhausted. Chloe texted me that she was going to a party somewhere and that if I needed anything to call her.

I decided to eat leftovers because I didn't feel like cooking. Then I got in the shower and got into bed. It was only 7:30, but I felt mentally and physically drained. I got into bed and instantly fell asleep.
