Hazel POV

Leaving the chaotic nightclub with Chloe by my side, the events of the evening continued to swirl in my mind. We hailed an Uber, and the car whisked us away towards our apartment. Chloe's giggled as we made put way towords our apartment.

"Hayz, that was so much fun! Did you see their faces? They didn't know what hit them!" Chloe slurred.

I managed a weak smile, not fully sharing her enthusiasm. "Yeah, it was definitely an eventful night. But I have to admit, it was also uncomfortable."

Chloe furrowed her brows, trying to make sense of my words. "Why, Hayz? I thought you needed a break from work and all the stress. Wasn't that why we went to the club?"

I took a deep breath, struggling to put my thoughts into words. "It's not that, Clo. I appreciate the gesture, but I felt out of place, especially when I met Aiden's friends. I felt like they didn't like me."

Chloe's eyes widened as she leaned in, her alcohol-laden breath reaching me. "Oh my God! What happened? Did he say something to upset you? Did his friends say something? If they did, I'll give them a piece of my mind!"

Placing a hand on Chloe's arm, I tried to reassure her. "No, no, nothing really happened. I just felt like maybe Aiden's friends judged me without knowing me. I used to feel the same way about Aiden after i heard him talking about me. But after spending time with him, I've seen a different side of him."

Chloe pursed her lips, mulling over my words. "That may be true, Hayz, but I still have my doubts about Aiden. I don't want you getting hurt."

"Why would I get hurt? We're just friends," I replied, trying to convince myself as much as Chloe.

"Hayz, come on. I know you like the back of my hand. I can see it in your eyes. You still like Aiden," she insisted, her gaze unwavering.

"No, I don't," I retorted, my voice betraying the uncertainty within me.

"Really now, Hazel? Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't like Aiden," Chloe challenged, her tone gentle yet probing. I met her gaze momentarily before averting my eyes. "See? You still like him."

"But Chloe, it doesn't matter. I'm being realistic. Aiden would never see me in that way," I murmured, my voice tinged with a touch of sadness.

"Hazel Hart! If anything, he should consider himself lucky to have you. He's just an idiot," Chloe declared, her voice laced with determination. "In fact, you need to move on."

"I have," I replied, my words lacking conviction.

"No, you haven't. You need to put yourself out there. You've never dated anyone, never even kissed anyone," Chloe asserted.

"Clo, I don't need..." I started to protest.

"Yes, you do! Give me your phone," she interrupted, holding out her hand.

"Why?" I asked, puzzled by her request.

"Just do it," she insisted. Reluctantly, I handed her my phone, watching as she began typing away. "What exactly are you doing?" I inquired, curiosity getting the better of me.

"I'm texting Dr. Anderson. I'm asking him out on a date," she announced, a mischievous grin on her face.

"What? Chloe, no!" I exclaimed, panic rising within me.

"It's too late now," she said, handing me back my phone. I read the text she sent: will you go on a date with me? It was a damn text message, so I couldn't take it back.

"Why would you do that?" I asked her, looking at her like she's a crazy person.

"Beacuse the sexy doctor has the hots for you," she said.

"No, he doesn't. How could you think....." Just then, my phone rang, and a notification popped up. I received a text message from Michael.

"Read it," Chloe said.

I looked down at my phone, and the message said: I would love to. I don't work tomorrow night. Would that be OK?

"Say yes!" Chloe said excitedly.

"But Chloe..." I whined.

"Hazel, this is for your own good. You need a man, and im sorry, girlfriend, but you need to get laid, " she said. I looked up at her. Maybe Chloe did lose her mind. "You cant say no now. You asked him, " she said.

"No, you did," I accused her.

"Well, he thinks you did, so..." she said, smirking at me. "Tomorrow is Saturday. You weren't going to go to the hospital this weekend because of the event they're having. Things would work out perfectly, " she said.

"Fine," I sighed. I texted Michel and said: Tomorrow works for me. He immediately texted me back saying: pick me up at 8.

I looked at Chloe and then she said, "You'll thank me later." I rolled my eyes and got ready for bed.
