Bakugo wasn't sure how, but he had ended up hiding behind a wall, eavesdropping on a rather interesting conversation.
Well, he told himself that he didn't know how, but in reality he was following Deku and Y/n during the recreation time before the third round of the UA Sports Festival.
He was now leaning on a wall, listening in on a conversation between his two childhood friends and Todoroki.

"Are you All Might's secret love child?" he heared half and half ask. This was answered with Y/n laughing out loud, her weird laugh reaching Bakugo's ears clearly. He felt his heart skip a beat at the thought of her smiling face.
Somehow, the fact that Y/n wouldn't back out on their weird friendship even though he treated her badly would make the boisterous teen feel warm. It was something about her seeing more to him than his anger and his horrible temper.
He rejected these warm and fuzzy feelings whenever he would get them, and luckily for him, he was great at hiding what he was really feeling through his animated and aggressive exterior. But it was hard to reject the constant images of the girl with the not so hero-like quirk popping up in his head when he least expected it.

--

Y/n looked between Izuku and Todoroki. She felt like the third wheel in this, like she wasn't supposed to be here, but somehow, she had gotten dragged in to it. The air around them was pretty tense and Shoto and Izuku were having some kind of a stare-off. But it didn't last long.

"My old man, Endeavour" Shoto started "has always been stuck as the number two hero, just behind All Might. When he realised he wouldn't be able to surpass him, he decided to go for the next best thing. However to do so, he had to stoop very low" he explained.
Y/n questioningly looked over at the boy with the bi-coloired hair in front of her. She wasn't sure where he was going with this.

"I'm sure you've heared of quirk marriages, that's what he had with my mother. He convinced her family to marry them thanks to his fame and his money" Shoto continued. He looked down to the ground, his hand clenching and unclenching as he observed it, deep in thought. Y/n and Izuku looked at eachother, unsure about what to say or what to do.

"He drove her insane, it was so bad she went temporarily insane. She poured the boiling water in the kettle on me" he spoke, through gritted teeth.
Y/n didn't know what to expect, but this was definitely not it. She had many times thought about how he had gotten his scar, but never would she have imagined something like that.

Shoto...

The tears were difficult to keep back as she imagined a small, five year old Todoroki being permanently scarred by his own mother. It was horrible.
Her hands tingled at the scenes that started popping in her head.
Y/n looked up and stared in to Shoto's eyes. It was barely noticeable, but a light veil of tears glossed over his vision. But she noticed.
Todoroki watched as the girl in front of him took a few steps forward before pulling him by his arms into her. Her head rested on his shoulder as she held him. She was holding him in a way he was no longer used to being held in.

She's so warm

His arms were stuck in her embrace and when he tried to move them to embrace her, she shook her head.

"Let me hold you" she whispered. Shoto's eyes widened for a second, her words processing in his head. It took a few seconds but he eventually relaxed in her embrace and hung his head, enjoying the moment for what it was. Until now he thought he was over all of this, over the whole idea of needing other people. He felt something in him click in this moment, all the years of numbness and apathy rushing back to him as he finally felt the warmth he had longed for unconsciously.
Y/n eventually moved her arms away from the boy, taking a step back. She sniffled, raising her hand to his face and softly running her thumb on the edge of his scar, a small smile on her face.

"You are not your father, if this is the reason why you don't use your flames, forget about him. Use those flames for you, not for him" she told him, before moving back to Izuku.
He on the other hand had a determined look on his face.

"She's right you know" he started, curling his hands in to fists as he caught Todoroki's gaze with his.
"We all strive to be heroes and we are all doing our best, you can't expect to become a hero if you only use half of your power".

In that moment, a call rung out, encouraging the remaining students in the games to come back to the field as the preparations for the last round were coming to an end. Todoroki moved forward, walking in front of Izuku and Y/n, their words repeating themselves in his head over and over again.
Y/n watched Shoto from a few metres away, smiling sadly.

He went through so much

But she was glad he had finally opened up to someone.

--

"THE FIRST MATCH OF THE FINAL ROUND, IZUKU MIDORIYA VS HITOSHI SHINSO. LET'S GOOO" Present Mic shouted excitedly.
Y/n sat in her place on the bleachers next to Bakugo. She watched Izuku nervously step on the huge stage Cementoss had created, her purple haired friend appearing on the opposite end.

"Hey look it's your boyfriend Spidey" Bakugo snarled, eyeing Y/n for a reaction.
She turned her face towards the ash blonde and smirked.

"Are you jealous?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow at him, making his face twitch in anger.

"WHAT? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHO YOU DATE DUMBASS" he grunted, sliding deeper in to his seat, his gaze fixing itself on the huge field in front of them.
Y/n snorted at his reaction and leaned over so she was close to his ear.

"Don't worry PomPom, he's not my boyfriend" she whispered, before going back to her relaxed seated position.
In that moment, Bakugo's ears were burning red as he remembered the nickname she had given him oh so long ago when they were barely toddlers.

When they had first met, they were tiny and she had a very hard time saying his name, so she had ended up calling him PomPom after their mothers had joked together about him looking like a pomeranian puppy with his messy honey-coloured hair.

"DON'T CALL ME THAT SPIDEY" he glared. Y/n just laughed again and directed her attention back to the stage in front of them.

"I warned him you know" Ojiro whispered from his seat behind her.

"You figured it out?" she asked, turning to look at him.

"Yeah, I think so"

They watched as the match went on, it wasn't particularly eventful apart from the huge gust of wind that Izuku created as he freed himself from Shinso's control. Y/n watched as her best friend ran towards him, taking him out of bounds almost immediately.

"IZUKU MIDORIYA IS THE FIRST TO PASS ON TO THE NEXT STAGE" Present Mic declared as Midnight confirmed Shinso's out of bounds.
As her green haired friend made his way back to the bleachers, Y/n high fived him, congratulating him. She made a mental note to talk to Shinso later.

As Shoto's match began, Y/n got up from her seat and stretched her arms over her head.

"I'm next, I'll catch you guys later" she smiled, patting Bakugo on the head, his glare going back and forth between Todoroki down in the field and the girl treating him like a puppy.
Izuku and a few others waved.

Y/n was by herself as she walked to the Waiting room 2, planning on clearing her head before her match.

"I am clearly at a disadvantage against Denki" she pondered to herself. She actually had no idea how her webs reacted to electricity. If they conducted it, she'd be screwed.
She sat at the table, trying to come up with something and barely noticed the door open.

"You're next?" Shoto asked.
Y/n turned to look at the boy. She blushed lightly as she felt his gaze on her, but this time, it seemed softer, more caring than usual.
He moved over to her and placed his warm hand on her head. It had almost become a habit since the USJ incident, she loved feeling his fingers just barely tangled in her hair, his eyes piercing through hers.

"You'll do good" he nodded. Y/n didn't seem so sure, but she liked the idea of him believing in her.

"I have no idea how I'm supposed to fight electricity with my quirk" she replied, leaning deeper in to his palm as she enjoyed the moment.

"Then don't fight"

"Huh?"

"You have good reflexes and you are faster than most of our class, but strength isn't your biggest asset"

"You're saying I should run?"

"I'm saying take him out before he even realises it's started"
Todoroki had a small smirk on his face, something that Y/n had never seen before. All of a sudden, he seemed more person and less robot.

She grinned at the boy in front of her.

"I have to go" Y/n stated, standing up. She was closer to his eye level now.
He nodded and stepped to the side so she could walk past him.

"Oh and Shoto"

"Hm?"

"Congrats on winning"

"How did you-"

"It was pretty obvious, you are the strongest person I know" she smiled.

Shoto watched her disappear around the corner, her happy face plastered in to his mind. He sat down heavily on the chair she was previously in, taking his face in his hands.
He felt like crying. He wanted to pour out so many bottled up emotions it was hard to know where to start from. But now was not the time, he wanted to go and watch her.

--

"AND NOW WE HAVE, ON ONE SIDE, OUR OWN ELECTRIC BOY, DENKI KAMINARI" Present Mic beamed, followed by Denki appearing on the stage.

He watched as the pro hero presented Y/n and blushed brightly as she appeared. She waved at him and had a smile plastered on her face like she normally did, but he could see how nervous she was because of everyone watching.
Y/n watched her adversary as her round was about to start. She remembered watching him practice.

I have approximately one or two seconds before he discharges electricity to get him out of bounds, I might just be able to make this work

As soon as Midnight gave the ok to start, Denki put his hands together, not wasting any time and charging up his body to attack, but Y/n was faster. She activated her quirk surprisingly quick due to her concentration and before he knew it, Denki was wrapped up tightly in thin webs and dangling in the air.
Y/n quickly whipped him around in the air and threw him far enough so he would definitely fall out of bounds, but he had discharged his built up electricity just before she sent him falling.
And as she feared, her quirk conducted electricity, making the strong bolts reach her body.
She felt her body tense up and spasm in an uncontrollable way for a few seconds. There was a defeaning silence as everyone watched the stage down below.

Most of class 1-A was standing up and holding on to the railing as they stared at the scene in front of them.
Y/n felt the electricity dissipate and she felt her knees buckle. She collapsed on to the ground, but managed to use her arms to keep her waist up from the floor. Slowly she lifted herself back up, not wanting for this to become a draw.
There were a few more seconds of complete silence before she straightened herself up and turned towards Present Mic's and Aizawa's cabin, giving them a big thumbs up and a grin.

"AND HERE WE HAVE IT, THE WINNER OF THIS ROUND, Y/N L/N" the pro hero with the golden hair shouted. There were loud cheers coming from the bleachers and Y/n turned to her class where everyone had their arms up and were shouting incomprehensible things. Her gaze met Shoto's as he nodded approvingly, knowing she had taken his words in to account.

I did it

AAAA I was really in to the whole Todo vibe while writing this eheh, I hope you enjoyed it. I really think Shoto's and Y/n's relationship is pretty wholesome tbh <3 ~Ali
