  💀2💀

Growing up in Livinggood farm was a very beautiful and healthy setting for wild girls like Kat, Em, and Lucy. Waking up to soft tendrils of beautiful gold covered lemonade sun over baby pink and blue canvas was something that they could never get over with. Every morning was pretty and magical.

And every morning, like a ritual, they ran off to the northern end of their land to dip in the Luvering Lake. Anon, coming back home was what they loved subsequently the most since they are greeted with a grand breakfast complete with bacon, pancakes, wild berries, scones, white rolls, pie, goat's milk, orange juice from their orchard, jams, cheese, cakes and fresh butter, made them ravenous.

After such a heavy breakfast, going to school was a herculean task but since they loved Little Heart Public School, no one forced them to get ready. Home from school was another wild chase around their farm which had a small jungle for themselves to enjoy. Riding through it with their horses was their fun task in the evening.

On time, they shall arrive with rosy cheeks and tired chin from all those laughing to meet a scrumptious dinner.

Likewise, their life until graduation was one big roll of evergreen memories. Being the top three students in school; Katie and Lucy bagged scholarships to UCLA. Em was disappointed to lose the desired scholarship for one grade point.

Being country fed and born, the girl's fathers were bit old fashioned and traditional. Although they flourished business in town and different countries; they always rooted back to their good old country life. Thus the girls feared that they would find it hard for them to make their parents convince when the time comes. But, contraty to their belief, when the acceptance letter came, Peter's heart swelled with pride and happily exchanged the news with the girls who in turn were astonished to see their country father's ready to send them off the cage.

In a blink of an eye, the girls after their whole life being planted to the country's every nook and cranny; were ready to stretch their wings and fly.

Moving day was filled with tears and sad aura. No one ever heard of such a thing. For them, it was always home and even if they were gone, they always came back. But girls being sent away for pursuing higher education when they had their own university was something that they didn't understand. UCLA was far away from Rosings. However, they were sent with blessings and tears.

Shifting locations were as expected tiresome and scary. Seeing the modern world was like walking into a movie. Since the girls were lively and wild, it did not take them much time to get adjusted to the new settings.

Even though making it to town was like wild goats being let out into a bustling highway; they soon adjusted and had a happy stay in the newly made attractive world.

Soon, but not too soon, they gradually forgot about green hills and meadows, brown mountains and trees; they immersed themselves in, blaring voices, pollution, dance clubs and late night shows. Without even them knowing, their first year was over.

And since they had a long vacation; they decided to spend it home. And just like the old saying, you always came back home; they longed to be back and enjoy the country air.

After touring and collecting souveniers for their families, the trio were back with Tina and Mina.  They were twins, who moved with kat, Em and Lucy, mid-semester. They were helping the girls pack; especially Em.

"I can't believe we came here crying and sniffing. I feel like doing that now." Em exclaimed as she carelessly threw a crop top into her suitcase. Tina rolled her eyes and leaned in to fold it properly.

"Stop being a dork and pack. You know you want to feel the green and black." Kat said with a hint of a smile in her voice.

"Oh, I do want to meet black. I hope he is ok." Em said, suddenly finding a reason to be interested in going back.

"Who is black?" Mina asked munching onto too many Cheetos at once.

"Don't speak with your mouth full; you will get choked to death," Lucy said as she entered the room with her leggings and pajamas.

"Then she should have been dead long ago," Tina said as she pulled all the clothes Em threw into her suitcases.

"What the hell?" Em exploded.

"Mind your language." Lucy chastised in a harsh tone, not suiting her style; thus, she quickly added, "at least for a while, you know how our families are..."

Em threw her hands over Lucy's shoulder and smiled at her. "Of course I know sweetie, how I can forget."

"You didn't tell me who black is," Mina said, spitting few crumbs of Cheetos all over the place.

"Disgusting!" muttered Tina under her breath. As usual, Mina ignored her and looked at Katie for an answer.

Katie was busy picking books to pack in her bag and didn't notice Mina's piercing stare.

"What the..., would anyone tell me? Is he your boyfriend?" Mina exploded.

"For God's sake, stop shouting... he is Em's horse," Kat said with a long sigh.

"Good!" Mina said as she munched few more chips.

In between the chaos, they finished packing and ordered one last pizza to eat before going home. Em declared she will always prefer city pizza over homemade one but Lucy claimed otherwise. Kat didn't have much interest in food, so she preferred to be silent.

Tina and Mina hugged their friends real hard and set them off on the journey back home.

Kat and Em had made lots of plans to do as they reach back home. They decided to stay for only a month and then come back to the twins. Lucy said she wanted to stay there until vacation ended. Since there was a debate going on; they hadn't decided on how long should they stay back home.

From day one, Em had been talking non stop about exploring their country place as it was forbidden before, when they were kids. Katie, for once, was really excited for something without a reason. She was also interested in going for an adventure.

However, Lucy had made every attempt in backing them out from doing too much exploring of their land since it gave her an unexplainable bad vibe.

Talking about this once again the bus made Em rile up; she said, "When was the last time that you willingly joined us in any venture?"

"But this is different; I don't feel good about it."

"Fine, when was the last time you felt good about anything we planned to do?"

"Alright, but this is different. The thought alone makes me nauseating."

"Reading Classics and growing up didn't make you an exploring chic like me? I want to be Julian, Dick or George from The Famous Five and explore my country."

"I just don't feel that is a good thing. Father must have restricted us for a reason."

"And I want to find it," Em said in a very serious tone.

Katie who was reading another book looked up at her sisters.

"Please, you argue like couples. First, let us reach home and then we will decide."

"But promise me Kat that you will not listen to this doofus and do something rash." Lucy pleaded.

"I won't make any promises that I can't keep; besides what is wrong with exploring. We won't go far and wide. We will just run around our village."

Lucy burst into tears. "I can't explain, but I have this feeling it is going to be bad."

"Sweetie, we won't do anything wild. We will take our horses too." Em said in a soft voice, suddenly uneasy to make her sister cry.

"Look, we haven't even reached there yet, you wet kitten." Katie mocked her amusedly.

Slowly Lucy became okay and both girls forgot that such a conversation ever existed.

Soon they were home and their mothers were waiting for them with the cars. It was a warm welcome and they loved it every bit.

Em inhaled the country air. There were no traces of bad smell and smoke. It was clean and crisp.

"I sure did miss this. I couldn't wait to come home."

"You traitor; you are lying," Lucy exclaimed.

"Well, I didn't. I did miss this and my mom's smell. Come here, let me smell you, mommy."

With laughter and merriment, they went back home loving every bit of their families warm welcome.

However, they both completely forgot about Lucy's feeling about their plans. But Lucy hadn't forgotten. She was having this bad feeling in the pit of her stomach unable to explain what it was. And that just bit her all the time as if someone was warning her beforehand.

It irritated Lucy and pilfered all the gaiety from her.
