Thalia Lively

I was not a morning person. Groaning I wake up and found the culprit that caused me to wake up on my left.

A furry culprit.

"Didn't know I had a roommate." I rubbed my eyes and fell straight onto my back again.

"I'm so sorry." I open my eyes and see a girl run in, carefully picking up the puppy.

"Thalia wake up, you're going to be lat—I see you've met Riley and Chase." Nonna walked in seconds after smiling, looking between Riley and I.

I looked back at the black ball of fur and immediately fell in love. The girl, Riley, looked at me with a kind smile. "You wanna hold him?"

I guess my face said it all since I didn't have to reply till she extended her arms holding him and setting him beside me again.

"I'm sorry if he woke you up—"

"No, it's okay." I brushed it off easily, this is probably my new favourite way to wake up; waking up to a puppy.

"Hey, I'm Riley." She sat down on the edge of my bed. "You're so pretty, do people like you even exist? I swear people like you only exist on Instagram."

"People like me?" I questioned.

"Way too good to be true people." She explained but I still remained confused, but nonetheless flattered.

"Oh, um, thank you but that's not true." I looked down at the puppy hoping it would hide my blush as my hair fell in front of my face.

Nonna laughed. "She doesn't take compliments easily."

"Okay, get up, school time."

"I think the fuck not."

"THALIA, WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT USING THAT LANGUAGE." Nonna glared at me from the doorway, successfully chucking her slipper at me.

"Is your head okay?" Riley looked at me with a worried glance as we got out of the car.

"Oh yeah, it's amazing. I love getting things thrown at my head." I replied with a deadpan expression etched onto my face.

"You shouldn't have kept swearing." She winced remembering the painful memory that happened just moments ago.

"I was hoping she'd hit me hard enough for me to get knocked out so I wouldn't have to come here." I looked at my new school and groaned. East Wing High.

We were most definitely late and Riley didn't seem like she cared, although I still felt guilty for making her late.

"Uh, sorry for making you late." I said awkwardly as she walked in front of me, guiding me into the school.

She chuckled lightly, her quiet laugh echoing through the empty halls regardless even though it was only a faint sound. "Don't worry about it." She replied with ease.

I looked at all the posters for clubs and events that were covering the walls. A bunch of past graduate portraits hung up on one wall, some were so old that the paper wasn't even white anymore.

"C'mon, the office is this way." She grabbed my wrist and turned a corner, pulling me into a huge office. People around here seem to be doing finically well, the massive houses, the huge school, expensive cars.

It wasn't like this where I used to live so all these extravagant things are making me uneasy.

"Ms.Hemming." Riley called out to the lady at the front desk, causing her to turn in her chair and smile at Riley.

"Good morning, Riley." She turned her attention to me and raises her eyebrows. "You must be new." She turned back to her computer.

"Ms. Lively?" She looked at me and I nodded, then turning back to look at Riley who was easily conversing with another office lady. She dove into a conversation so easily, it was humbling to see her ask people how their day was or how their family was doing.

"Here's your schedule, and papers to fill out. You're going to have to take a picture for your student card later on today. Your locker number is 1935. I hope you enjoy your first day here, but the students here are a pain in the ass so I recommend you stay by Riley." I raised my eyebrows at the last piece of information, causing her to laugh loudly and shoo'ing us out of the office.

"What! You're so lucky you have a main hallway locker, my locker is all the way upstairs." She says bummed out. "Everyone who has a main hall locker is blessed, you are blessed by the gods."

"What?" I laughed, looking at her strangely.

"Having your locker in the main hall makes your life a hundred times easier, believe me." She turned around and stopped in front of a locker, looking at it pouting.

Before either of us could say anything else, we heard laughs from down the hall. A guy comes into view and so does another one, throwing a football at him.

Two more guys come out, with a group of four girls. All of them laughing obnoxiously when one of the football guys knocks himself in the lockers by accident trying to catch the ball. Riley rolls her eyes beside me, causing me to give her the 'explain the tea' look.

"That's your typical popular clique. There are more of them but those are the main people, they are assholes and spoiled brats. The girl with the purse is Rebecca, she's the rudest person you'll ever meet." She stared at them in disgust.

"I just hate how they treat everyone like shit just because they have it better than some other people. They think they're gods around here but they're just a bunch of ungrateful assholes." She shook her head and then took my schedule out of my hand reading it and then grinned once she finished.

"We have two classes together!" She smiled brightly, completely disregarding Rebecca and the rest, changing the topic like it was nothing.

I send her small smile and put a lock on my locker. "Lead the way."

She nodded and began walking towards the group. She takes out her phone and mutters a string of curses. "We are thirty minutes late to our second period class, we are so dead dude."

As we walk by Rebecca and excreta, Riley doesn't bother noticing them and continues telling me how we're going to die, meanwhile the girl, Rebecca, stares at me with her eyebrows squeezed together.

We make it past them and stop a door down the hall and around the left corner. Riley stares at it anxiously, as if the teacher is going to open the door at any second and rip her head off without a second thought.

Since she wasn't moving, I opened the door and stepped in first.

The teacher stops talking at my abrupt entry with Riley cowering behind me. She's holding onto the back of my shirt, yet the teacher doesn't even look that scary. She's a scrawny, blonde— scratch that, grey-haired old lady.

"Who are you?" She demanded and I raised my eyebrows out of instinct. Before I could respond she noticed Riley and glared.

"Why are you interrupting my class? Riley, you're late." Venom spewing out into every word and I still stood there looking at her with my eyebrows still raised.

"Thalia Lively, I'm new and in your class. She's late because of me, I was having troubles and she offered to help me." I grabbed Riley's arm and dragged her to near the back of the class and sat her down beside me.

The teacher glared but didn't continue saying anything else. It wasn't until I saw Riley shifting in her seat uncomfortably that I noticed something was wrong.

"You okay?" I whispered, leaning towards her and she shakes her head.

"Everyone's staring." I looked around and she was right, they're all turning around subtly looking directly at us and talking with their friends. The teacher doesn't notice as she sat in her seat, writing angrily on a piece of paper.

"Sorry." I looked back at Riley.

"Don't be, they can never mind their own business but I just really don't like being the centre of attention." She looked out the window trying to not pay attention to the stares.

I looked back at everyone and they immediately turned around. Are they okay?

"They're here, look!" A girl in front of us says to her friend, both looking out the window gaping, same as Riley.

I turned to look and my eyes widened, the girls repeating, "oh my god, oh my god," over again as they watched the group of three guys walk in the parking lot. Riley was looking at them too— more specifically one of them intensely.

I nudged her causing her to quickly snap out of it and turn to me. Once she sees me staring at the guy she was previously looking at and back at her, she smiled sheepishly.

"Uh, that's just another popular group." She turned down the subject but the subject didn't go away when the girls started talking about them even more loudly.

She sighed, looking back the boys. "That's Ethan, Emmett and Carter. They're best friends and don't really talk to anyone else. They stay pretty private and low key but everyone knows them cause I mean look at them, they're unbelievably hot. They have two more friends, Nathan and Austin but I guess they're not here today." She explained, pointing to who was who.

Ethan was the one wearing a red shirt, black jeans and nikes. He had short hair, strong jawline and really pink lips that I could even see them all the way across the parking lot. He was the one goofing around, playing around with a soccer ball while drinking a coke.

Emmett was the one wearing a black jacket, black jeans and Adidas. He was recording Ethan almost falling when he tripped over the soccer ball and spilled his drink. He was laughing and I assume making fun of Ethan since I could see Ethan roll his eyes and punch him in the shoulder.

Carter was the one wearing a grey shirt, blue jeans, some black shoes. He seemed the most grumpy out of the three since he rolled his eyes and gave a look of annoyance when Emmett put the camera on him. He looked intimidating from his long-ish black hair and furry eyebrows being furrowed together.

They were extremely good looking but I looked away anyway, mainly because I wasn't here to watch boys all class. I was here to try and survive then go home to my happy place; my bed.

Riley seemed to be staring at Emmett in particular and I could immediately tell that they would make the cutest couple ever.

Riley had mid-length dark curly hair, amazing eyebrows that I'm jealous of; her eyebrows compliment her face so well. She had light, pale, plump lips and strong cheekbones. She was a little short, probably like 5'5 and had a small waist but was curvy.

With Emmett's probably 5'10 frame, I can imagine them together. She looked at him with longing and a hint of sadness glistening in her brown eyes.

The teacher resumed teaching the lesson a while back but I was so caught up in my mind that I didn't know she was asking me a question. I didn't even know what class this was or what this teacher's name was.

"I'm asking you a question, Ms. Lively." I could practically see the flames going out of her ears, what's her problem? Did her cat die?

"Sorry, what was the question?" I stared back at her irritated, just wanting to get out of here.

"If you aren't going to listen then I suggest you leave and don't come back."

I didn't have to be told twice, I got up but was yanked back down by Riley. Before the teacher could run up to my desk and attempt to kill me, the bell rang and Riley was dragging me out of the class at light speed.

"You can't do that, she's the devil around here." She laughed and looked at me with an unknown look. "I like you." She said, coming to the conclusion.

"Sorry but I don't swing that way—"

"Oh shut up, that's not what I meant. Let's go eat." She pushed my shoulder.

I looked over at her shocked. "It's already lunch?"

"Well yeah we missed first period and most of second, so now it's lunch. Wait, I've been meaning to ask where you're from?" She questioned as we walked through the halls, trying to avoid bumping into anyone but the halls were already crowded and getting fuller by the second.

"I was born in Cuba but I was raised in Italy." The lower part of Italy, near the water and where it's freer to roam around, filled with kind people. Not a lot of people stayed in those areas, it was more rural than urban.

"So, you speak Italian?" We made it out of the school and she took me through the parking lot, I guess we're getting lunch somewhere else.

"Yeah, and Spanish, Portuguese, Albanian, French and a little German." I explained, while looking at how everyone was basically divided into their own groups of friends. Unlike my old school where everyone knew everyone and they all interacted with each other, here they stayed separate. It didn't make much of a difference to me since either way I was always on my own.

"What? You speak seven languages? Are you even real? How do you remember that many languages, I've always wanted to learn more languages than just English and French." She stared at me in what I assume is awe but she also looks bewildered.

"My dad travelled a lot, he taught me different languages growing up, he was really keen on having me know different cultures." My tone seemed to have shown that I wanted to end the conversation there and she thankfully got the hint, nodding.

She walked me all the way to this little café place. We walked in silently, but not in an uncomfortable silence. I was looking in my bag when I heard her take a sharp breath in, making me look up at her and then follow her gaze, landing on the three musketeers we saw earlier.

{ probably not edited well or at all }

How was it? Did you like it? Am I doing good so far? I still have no clue as to what I'm doing. Hopefully, I'm not doing too bad, and that this isn't complete rubbish.

I do have a character playing Thalia (the girl you see in the pictures) but I'm not going to cast any other characters because I want you guys to imagine them the way you want to. You can picture them however you please because sometimes when I'm reading a book, they cast someone not so good looking as the cast and I get turned off from the book (no offence to those people or anything i'm sorry okay sndjskkakansnsn)

i'm sorry bye
