Thalia Lively

We pushed throw crowds of people, the smell of beer and sweat hitting my nose and I covered my face in disgust, this is where Riley wanted to go to so bad?

Nathan grabbed a hold of my hand as people started getting more riled up and I was being pushed in a different direction. He pulled me through everyone, both of us looking for a recognizable face, but we had no luck until a guy screamed 'fight, fight, fight!' ahead of us. Nathan fastened his pace, dragging me along with him.

We saw people crowding around in the massive kitchen and Nathan pushed everyone aside as he tried making it in the circle. I got a glimpse of Riley's puffy, curly hair to my right and my head whipped back to try and get a better view at her. As Nathan let go of my hand because we made it through everyone, I rushed to Riley, anger consuming me once I saw blood spilling out of her lip.

"What the hell happened?" I asked her but she was crying too much to explain.

I looked back at Nathan and saw him staring down the same guy we saw from the parking lot at the football game. James was smirking as he looked down a bloodied Emmett who was holding his stomach, pain etched onto his face. I looked back to Riley and she was looking away, as if the sight of Emmett in pain put her in equal pain.

"It was six against one, h-he tried helping m-me when t-that guy kept g-grabbing me, h-he wouldn't leave me alone." She stuttered and I pulled her into a hug, not letting go of her as she cried on my shoulder. I tried my best to remain calm and let Nathan handle this situation.

Nathan acted fast enough to catch some guys fist before it hit Carter who appeared out of thin air. All of a sudden Austin and Ethan come into view, each of them fighting against three guys. It seemed like they were winning and more of James' friends noticed too, they began to jump into the fight, not wanting to lose against the boys. Everything happened in what seemed like a blink of an eye and Nathan ran to rip the guys off of Ethan and Austin. Fists were being thrown everywhere and if people haven't already left the second Nathan came in, they were rushing out of here now.

Riley was crying beside me, wanting to leave because she doesn't want to see this fight but at the same time neither of us left. I needed to know they were okay by the end of this.

It seemed like they were fighting for way more than just some drunk guy hitting on Riley, from the scene in the parking lot, I could tell they have insane history which other. Nathan didn't look like the type— none of them looked like the type to just start up fights for a stupid reason. It looked serious.

Austin was fighting two medium sized guys and was winning incredibly, throwing one of them into the wall and kneeing the other one in the stomach.

Carter was going against one huge guy and was losing at first but started winning when he managed to get out the choke hold. He twisted the other guy's arm and continued doing so until the other guy wasn't up to fight anymore.

Emmett was still coughing blood onto the floor, trying his best to stand up but was being kicked back down by James, who was watching everything go down happily, like he had planned this and it was going just as he expected. I've come to the conclusion that he was psychotic and I was not going to stand here and watch Emmett get torn down when he can't defend himself.

I heard another one of Riley's sobs and that was it for me, I let go of her and ran towards James, pushing him away from Emmett. I bent down, kneeling in front of Emmett who tried to push me away. "No, take Riley and get out of here." He coughed up more blood and groaned while doing so.

"No, we aren't leaving you like this. We're not leaving any of you." I stated, they're going to have to make me leave because I refuse to leave not knowing what was happening.

"Don't be stupid, Thalia. This isn't safe for you two, please for me just take Riley and get out." He looked up at me pleadingly and I almost fell for it but then I saw all the bruises covering his arms, blood spilling out of his lip, eyebrow and mouth. I looked away from him and up at James who smiled at me, then rage filled every ounce of my being.

"What the fuck is wrong with you! You're fucking psychotic." I yelled at him and he leaned on a chair, calmly taking in my words.

"Oh is that so? You might want to listen to your little friend here, Thalia. You might end up in the middle of this." He said teasingly staring me down knowing full well that his words went through one ear and out the other. He looked at me with such intensity, like he knew every move I was about to make.

Emmett continued coughing, looking like he was struggling to breath and I acted quickly, we didn't have time to waste. I tried making him stand and called for Riley to help me, she ran over and picked him up with me. He was too weak and in pain to push us away, he tried nonetheless though.

I felt someone snake their arm around my waist and pull me back and away from assisting Riley. Emmett fell against Riley who held onto the table to support herself and Emmett's weight. I struggled to get out of James' hold, his arms growing tighter and tighter the more I tried to escape.

"I don't think that was a smart move, sweetheart." He said into my ear and disgust ran through my body. I could picture his scruffy beard next my ear and his dark brown eyes just waiting to analyze me.

"Fuck you!" I kicked him in the balls and was close to punching him in the face when he caught my fist and slammed me against the wall. My head hit the corner of a picture frame and I yelled out in pain as I felt blood flow down my back. He pushed me further into the wall, my head hitting against the picture frame harder. I couldn't get out of his hold, and refused to look at his most likely angered eyes.

"I was being nice to you, and this is how you treat me? You're going to regret doing that." He leaned in close to my face and before I could stop myself, I spit in his face.

He moved his face back and looked away with his mouth gaped at my actions. He turned back at me and raised his fist but was tackled down from someone that came from the side. The two guys flew to my right and I looked down, only to see Nathan on top of James, punching him endlessly. James could barely get any punches in as Nathan put his knees on James' forearms, bounding him from raising them to swing.

I ran to Riley and resumed my position to Emmett's left side, both of us successfully bringing him to Riley's car that was just right outside. We put him in the passenger seat and Riley got in the drivers seat.

"C'mon!" She yelled once she noticed my hesitation to get in the car. I couldn't do it, I couldn't leave Nathan. I knew he would be angry at me for returning back to the house after he just gave a chance to run, but I didn't care. I had to help and I don't know how I'll do that just yet but my gut was telling me to get back to the house.

Before Riley could leave, I turned to her urgently. "On the phone, you said Ethan was in trouble, whys he in trouble?" I asked looking back at the house, wanting to get back as quick as possible.

"There's a guy there with a weapon and he's going after Ethan tonight. I overheard James in a room upstairs talking about it, they planned this whole thing. They want this to happen and when they least expect it, they're going after Ethan." She told me this information and I gasped, my heart beating out of my chest.

"Did you tell anyone? Why didn't you tell one of the guys, or maybe Ethan?" I accused her and looked at her unbelievably but she explained herself hurriedly.

"I couldn't find Ethan or any of the other guys until later on, I saw Carter and told him then he ran off to Ethan and told me to leave and I was about to but then this guy stopped me." I let her stop there and started running away and towards the house.

"Take him to the hospital!" I yelled over my shoulder and faint heard her calling after me, not wanting me to go back in but after hearing what she just told me, I had to let Nathan know.

I ran in and saw most of James' guys on the floor, there was only four left and each of the guys were fighting them off. Nathan was now across the room, James having the upper hand now. James grabbed a beer van and opened it, attempting to pour it all over Nathan but was caught off guard when Nathan swiped his foot underneath James's feet and he fell straight down.

I looked over at Austin was who helping Carter, then at an alone Ethan who was pushed all the way to corner by a humongous guy who looked about twice our age. I remembered what Riley told me and I zoomed into the guys shirt, seeing a silhouette of an object tucked into his pants. I couldn't act quick enough to warn anyone so I just screamed to Ethan when I saw the guy reaching under his shirt.

"Ethan!" I screamed loudly, causing everyone to turn their attention to me than to Ethan who had a knife shoved to his throat, willing to cut it open if he moved. Nathan got up and tried to run to Ethan but stopped dead in the tracks when the guy shot him a look.

"Don't move." He said dangerously in a low, warning voice. He looked over at James for permission to continue and got a cocky nod as James wiped blood off from his lip. Nathan completely broke his face, the only way I could tell that it was James was because of his clothes.

Ethan looked at me and the usual spark in his eyes were long gone, replaced with a dark glint. The look in his eyes jabbed me in the heart as I could recall how happy he was earlier today, but here he was having a knife ready to end him. He stood there calmly and his eyes shifted to a ring of keys just steps away from me, laying on the counter.

He looked back at me and I understood what he was saying. I subtly moved closer to the keys as everyone's attention was not aimed at me. I grabbed a hold of the keys and tried to stop them from making any noise.

Austin and Carter looked ready to pounce if the guy made a single move against Ethan. If looks could kill, he'd be six feet under with how the three guys glared at him. Nathan's shirt was ripped on the sleeves and I saw blood running down his arms.

"Ethan here, is first on our list. You five took three people away from us and out of our lives forever, in the most cruel way. We're simply returning the favour." James went to the mystery guy's side and instead of a cocky look on his face, I saw pain.

"That was your fault, you caused it and brought yourself down, us along with you." Carter spat out, clenching his jaw so hard to refrain himself from saying anything else and risking anything happening to Ethan.

"That's the problem with you guys, you refused to take the blame. Just admit that you killed—" James was cut off by Nathan slamming his fist into the wall.

"Don't you dare continue that sentence." He walked towards James but Austin held onto him, trying to keep the distance from them, thinking that if they got close though, Ethan's throat would be ripped open.

"Drop the tough guy act, you killed him and my family." James pointed at him angrily. "YOU KILLED THEM, I LOST THEM!"

"WE LOST SOMEONE TOO!" Nathan screamed back, and I stood back, never seeing anyone so uncontrollably fuelled with anger. "I didn't kill them." He said with the same amount of pain but in a calmer voice, like he was trying to convince himself rather than James.

James stared each of them down and then turned to the guy and nodded merciless. "Do it, Marcus."

"No!" I screamed and threw the keys into Ethan's hand that was stretched out to the side, ready to catch the keys. He caught them and before the Marcus could react, Ethan dug the keys into his stomach causing him to drop the knife and tumble back in pain.

Nathan caught on the quickest and ran to prevent James from grabbing Ethan and causing him any more pain. Austin ran to keep Marcus down and Carter went to Ethan's side. All of them separating into different positions and even I didn't catch it when Austin was thrown to the wall so hard that he got knocked out. He fell with a 'thump' and the guys grew angrier, if that was even possible.

Ethan ran to attack Marcus for hurting Austin and was successful in tackling him down. Nathan restrained James and even though James was putting up a hard fight, Nathan came out on top.

Carter went and grabbed Austin, planning to get him out of here and far away from any more damage being caused. It warmed my heart that they all looked out for each other and I didn't have time to catch my moment of vulnerability, wishing I had friends like that, and neither did anyone else.

As Carter was halfway to the door with Austin, Ethan lost his footing and in that moment of him stumbling, Marcus grabbed a hold of his collar and slammed him down onto the glass table. His head coming in contact with the glass in the worst way, it completely shattering on impact and being scattered on top of Ethan.

Carter let out a strong 'No!' and before anyone could react Nathan grabbed Marcus's head and slammed into the wall multiple times until the wall was no long white but was turned red from the spilled blood. He then let Marcus go and James already fled the scene.

"No, no, no Ethan." Nathan ran to his side just as Ethan grew unconscious. He punched the remaining glass on the floor angrily, the sharp ends blooding his hand but he didn't seem to care. His fist was covered in so much blood and I looked away, wincing at his pain. He picked up Ethan and Carter had Austin, the two helping their friends out and into the car so that they could get to the hospital.

I followed them out and they went straight to Carters car.

Nathan turned to me angrily and I flinched at his glare. "You should've left." He said staring down at me.

"I couldn't leave you guys." I said quietly, my voice going away from my cold and all the screaming.

"You weren't meant to even come, you could've got hurt. You should've fucking left when you had the chance." He looked back at Carter was trying to get Austin and Ethan in the car comfortably, not wanting to injure them by throwing them in a bad position.

"I'm the one that saved Ethan by throwing him the keys, If I wasn't there then he would've had a slit throat right now." My voice dying out the more I spoke and I rubbed it.

"Save Ethan? Do you see him right now? He's probably already dead with all the glass smashed into his brain." Carter successfully got them in and jumped into the drivers seat.

"Take my car and leave." He threw me his keys and I tried to protest, wanting to come with them but he yelled even louder at me. "Just leave, Tahlia!"

They drove off quickly and I looked down at the keys, still not accepting what had just happened moments ago.

I walked through my house, wondering where the soft sobs were coming from and I stopped in front of the family room. We called it the family room because that's where we have all of our family belongings, no one goes in there though.

I walked in and saw Nonna sitting. on the floor looking at our family photo album, holding my moms necklace in her hands, crying at the picture that we took the last time our family was last together.

I sat down beside her and her sobs grew louder.

"I can't take it anymore Thalia. I try so hard to be brave and strong for you, so I could just maybe try and take some of the pain away. I'm not strong enough, I can't take the thought of not having them with me anymore. It kills me everyday." She cried out in agony and held the necklace close to her chest.

"They would want me to be happy but I just can't handle it. I don't know what to do—"

"Shh, it's okay." I pulled her into a hug and she cried on my shoulder. I rubbed her back silently. I guess I ran out of tears a year back when I wasted them all every night.

"I'm so sorry, Thalia. I'm just so sorry." She choked out and my heart broke at her broken voice.

I didn't respond.

We stayed like that until she cried herself to sleep and I carried her to her room, the necklace gripped in her hands, refusing to let go. I tucked her in then went back into the family room and picked up the album.

"No, I'm sorry Nonna." I whispered and returned the album back into its rightful place.

I'm so sorry for any grammar mistakes, I wrote this quickly because I didn't want to keep any of you waiting any longer and I just want to post it already. I hope it wasn't as horrible and rushed and I think it is.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed this chapter, and that you're not too angry at me for hurting the boys and that sad Nonna scene at the end. It just needed to be done okay. Forgive me.

Thank you for reading, much love.

Me coming back to see your reactions ^
