I woke up in the morning laying down next to Iskender and I didn't know how I felt in this moment. Somehow I felt really peaceful next to him and I felt that he is the one for me. The one who makes me actually happy. But at the other hand whatever happened before made me doubt him and his loyality towards me and not towards our Sultan.

I knew I slowly started getting in love with him and with each moment spent with him I fell in love with him even more and more, but always I remembered face of my mother and how she wouldn't be happy about all of this because she still doesn't believe Iskender.

"Good morning my beautiful Sultana," Iskender said as he wrapped his arm around me and kissed my forehead making butterflies in my stomach dance like crazy because I have never felt something beautiful like this, nor anyone was ever so kind to me like he was.

"Good morning," I slightly smiled him as I really didn't know how to express my emotions or anything else because I knew showing them was showing my weakness.

"Will you still be cold towards me even after we are married?" Iskender asked me and I saw a worry in his eyes.

I really didn't want him to worry about that because he obviously didn't knew I really liked him and felt so special next to him, but I couldn't show my emotions.

"I won't be cold, I promise," I said and smiled as our lips met very fast and kissed making butterflies in my stomach dancing even faster making me feel so special.

We went downstairs in the main room of our palace where we sat down to eat. All the maids prepared very luxurious table with many various food as this was the first meal we were having together and it was just the first one out of them all.

Iskender sat next to me when the maids started placing the food in front of us. Zeynep Kalfa was main in the charge as I trusted her the most out of them all, but one of the maids that served us was Gulcicek and this was the hugest punishment for her that she could get.

"Why did you bring her here instead of punishing her?" Iskender asked me as he was very surprised to see her here.

"This is bigger punishment for her than anything else," I said to him but he didn't seem to be so happy about this situation.

I wanted to start eating baklava which was my favourite food which they served me, but Iskender held my hand.

"I will try it before you. I don't trust her and I know she would be ready to make something bad to you," Iskender said as he took a piece of baklava that was served to me before I tried it because he was afraid.

"But Iskender that's why the maids are here for to try this. If she would put something inside I wouldn't want you to be hurt of it," I said and placed my hand on his arm as I was really afraid but even after few minutes everything was fine with him.

"As I am your husband now I am responsible for you and I wouldn't allow myself for something bad to happen to you. I would rather die from that poisoning than for them to be successful in poisoning you," Iskender said and his words made me feel so warm around my heart because I never expected someone would be so kind to me.

I continued to eat baklava peacefully knowing everything is fine but I still would never want him to try these things again because that was maids' duty not his nor I would ever want anything bad to happen to him because someone wanted to get rid of me. Iskender ate another sweets which he didn't want to give to maids to try because he trusted that if anyone was against someone here that was Gulcicek against me.

"I must disappoint you but I should work with Sultan Mehmed today as he plans to go to campaign soon," Iskender said as we both stood up and I really didn't want him to go now and leave me alone here the first day.

"Sultan won't be mad at you if you miss one day," I said to him and both of us smiled.

Everything was fine until one moment he started coughing so much. I looked at him with so much fear as I knew the worst happened and the poison was in question as nothing else would make him feel like this so quickly.

He started coughing so hard and his face became red. He seemed like he couldn't get to the air soon enough.

"Zeynep, call the doctors immediately," I yelled on Zeynep who fastly as she could ran for the doctors which weren't really close because no one expected the first day we would need a doctor.

"Sultana, doctors aren't close we must do something very quickly," another maid Esma said to me really worriedly and I knew she was right.

Iskender fell down on the floor as he couldn't stop coughing and I knew I shouldn't panic right now. I did what I was taught in my childhood and what every Sultana is taught in case of something bad happening to us or our loved ones.

I quickly grabbed coal from the furnace amd took water and mixed it. I mixed it very quickly and then sipped it in Iskender's mouth hoping this one will work because this was what my mother always taught me of doing if I ever get in situation like this because coal works with every poison.

I did it one more time just to make everything right because I started to panic a lot about Iskender and horrible thoughts came into my mind. I really didn't want to lose my husband and I didn't want anything bad happen to him.

I didn't know why he still wouldn't react to this as I gave him double dose of coal mixed with water which would be enough for any poison to stop working.

In that moment the doctors arrived inside and I was afraid because Iskender lost his conscience. As the doctor was walking towards here I came and grabbed Iskender's hand praying inside me that everything would be fine with him and nothing bad would happen.

At that moment doctor came and started to examine him but Iskender took deep breath and opened his eyes barely being able to breath. Few moments later he seemed like he is well.

"Handan, what happened?" Iskender asked me as he was still heavy breathing and he couldn't get to himself but doctors transferred him to our bedroom in the bed and there he would be better to recover. I was really afraid.

"Iskender they poisoned you. I swear whoever did this I will take their life," I said and Iskender took a deep breath again trying to calm down but I knew he isn't well still.

At that moment doors opened and my brother Sultan Mehmed came inside with his Valide Sultan Mahfiruz and they were both very worried for Iskender and arrived at the same moment they heard for it.

"Iskender, are you fine?" Sultan Mehmed asked worried as Iskender was his Grand Vizier and his best friend since his childhood.

"I am now, Hunkarim," Iskender said slowly.

"How could this happen Handan? What bad things happened to him the first day he spends with you?" Mahfiruz yelled to me so loudly that even I was shocked by her words.

"Someone poisoned him," I said seriously not trying to get angry on her but she could never again yell in my palace like this towards me.

"Well why didn't you make precautions?" She yelled on me back again and I really tried to calm down myself not to start yelling on her in front of Sultan and I didn't want to yell while Iskender was in this situation.

"Actually Grand Vizier Iskender is now alive thankfully to Handan Sultana, she made the anti-venom with coal and helped him. If she would have waited for us, Pasha would have been dead by now," Doctor said and Mahfiruz was very surprised on his words.

"Doctor, how did this happen? How is poison possible?" Mehmed yelled on the doctor and he was actually never yelling so this was very weird to me. He really cared for Iskender so I understood it but I saw he doesn't trust something in this story.

"We tested the food and poison was found in some parts of baklava and some sweets, which are usually prepared for Handan Sultana, so this poison was meant for her," Doctor said on everyone's suprise and right now I knew Iskender shouldn't have tried my baklava and how did he have so little luck to try the poisoned part of it.

"Zeynep, dismiss Gulcicek immediately and get rid of her however you know," I said to Zeynep on her ear as we all knew it was Gulcicek's fault.
