"Kiyoko! How's it going?" You skipped towards the third year, "The snows been pretty heavy this past week."

She laughed a bit as she watched you punch a large heap of snow on the side of the road, "you're never this early (F/n). Especially when you look so tired."

"I-I was studying last night!" You panicked, not wanted to admit that you were staying up late at night making a scarf, "and I just happened to wake up early.."

"That's new," she joked brushing the stray hairs away from her face.

"I'm a terrible liar aren't I," you groaned, "Okay okay fine, I was making this." You ruffled through your bag and pulled out a soft red scarf.

"It looks wonderful! When did you start crocheting?" Kiyoko held the scarf gingerly in her hands.

"J-just recently you know! Good skill to have!" You laughed nervously.

"Why aren't you wearing it? It's cold," she handed it back to you but you waved your hands in front of you.

"Actually I made it for you," you mumbled, averting your eyes to the floor, "it's fine if you don't want it though!"

Her eyes lit up while she held the scarf close to her chest, "really?! I love it! Thank you (F/n)."

Your face flushed bright red when she smiled at you, "o-okay! Lets go to school!" You twirled around and walked towards the campus before her.

~

Yawning loudly you huffed warm air into your hands. Usually you spent lunchtime with Kiyoko but she had some business to attend to. As you were looking outside the entrance of the building, you noticed something in the distance.

"Red?"

Walking through the freshly fallen snow, you squinted your eyes to get a better glance at the familiar buried object. You gasped a bit as you fell down to your knees. Taking the cold soft fabric into your hands, you lightly dusted it off.

"You're kidding," you laughed bitterly as tears clouded your vision. You checked the crocheted scarf and no matter how many times you looked over it, it was none other than the one you gave to Kiyoko not even a couple hours ago.

Your heart had shattered at the sight. Maybe if you had just bought her a scarf it wouldn't have felt this painful, but you spent days and nights making something that took so much courage to give to one person. And yet it was tossed aside as if it meant nothing at all.

No matter how much you wanted to pinpoint your anger towards Shimizu, you simply couldn't. You could only laugh bitterly at yourself.

"Hah.. It's my fault. I was the fool from the very beginning. To think I could ever be associated with Kiyoko in the first place. She probably just endured my presence because she's always so kind. Damn, if I knew all this why does it hurt so bad," your voice cracked as you hugged the rejected scarf tightly.

~

You did everything in your power to avoid Kiyoko like the plague. You felt way too embarrassed to face her anymore. It didn't take much effort though. You haven't seen her at all since the morning. You could only assume she was avoiding you as well.

Walking through the halls quietly, you heard an exasperated voice close to the volleyball gym.

"Kiyoko-san!" Tanaka and Nishinoya ran towards the gym entrance but was immediately stopped by Sugawara.

"Shimizu, what's wrong?"

"Sugawara! Have you seen a scarf anywhere?!" She huffed trying to catch her breath.

"A scarf?" Sugawara tried to recall anything about seeing a scarf, "what color was it?"

"It was red! It's a crocheted one! I was outside and I placed it onto a bench nearby to help someone out. The wind blew and suddenly it disappeared. I tried to look all day for it. I know this is troublesome, but it really means a lot to me," she explained.

"I'm sorry Shimizu, I haven't seen it. We can help you find it after practice! For now, come inside and calm down a bit. We don't want you to get sick."

"Okay.."

You slapped yourself in the face after a wash of relief fell over you. Before you stepped into the open, you decided that it was best if you weren't the one who gave it back to her. You didn't want her to feel any more guilty than she already was.

After watching Kiyoko go into the gym you snuck outside and placed the scarf right near the entrance of the gym. You covered some of it with snow so it wouldn't blow away.

~

Kiyoko walked out of the gym still upset with herself about the fact that she had lost your scarf the same day you had given it to her. However, she was immediately drawn to the red object that laid beneath the snow. Digging it out, Kiyoko smiled brightly at the sight. She didn't hesitate to wrap it around her neck despite how cold and damp it felt. She held it close to her face and whipped the tears that pricked at the edges for her eyes.

"Kiyoko!" You called out for her as you ran outside to greet her, "Is practice over?"

"(F/n)! You're still at school?" Kiyoko blushed a bit.

"Yeah.. I got in trouble during class today, so I stayed back for a bit of detention. Then I took a nap in the library," you scratched the back of your neck.

"Now that seems a bit more believable," she giggled.

"It's true!"

"Okay, okay! Shall we go?"

"Yep!" You noticed the red scarf you made around her neck and smiled softly. You were caught of guard when a warm blue scarf was suddenly wrapped around your neck.

"It's cold, you can have my blue one but this red one is mine forever," she tied the scarf around your neck gently and linked her arm with yours, "we should hang out sometime."

"Y-yeah! Hot cocoa!" You cheered as you stumbled to catch up to her fast pace.
