Rubbing you palms together, you stuffed your stiffened cold fingers into the pockets of your fuzzy coat. It was getting late, and you we're returning to your apartment which wasn't too far from where you came from.

Since the street was dead silent you were able to hear the faint voice of someone groaning. You we're in utter discomfort since it seemed as if whatever it was coming from, it was dying.

Person or animal, there's no way you'd leave it alone; especially in this weather condition. You searched the alleys in hopes to find where it was. The noise became louder and more clear when you faced towards a long dark alley way.

It was dark but you managed to see something curled up and lying at the end of it. You slowly neared the 'thing' and was completely in sheer shock from what you saw.

And it wasn't a thing.

It was someone.

You ran to the curled up boy and turned him around to check if he was still awake. His skin was cold as it hit your warm palms making a chill run up your spine.

He looked very much the same age as you were and to your surprise the brunette was extremely attractive. You we're relieved to see that he was breathing heavily but you didn't have much time.

You acted fast by taking off your heavy coat and wrapping him up to keep him warm.

"Hey! Are you alright? Can you hear me? How did this happen?! You really shouldn't be here like this!" You panicked, "I'm going to call 911 for help!"

You fumbled to grab you phone from you pocket. As soon as you we're able to unlock your phone and dial the number, his cold hand reached out to grab your wrist making you shriek.

"Don't," his voice was raspy but loud.

"What! Why?! Your going to die out here!"

"Just take me somewhere. Somewhere warm," he fell into a coughing fit.

"I can't just take you somewhere! You need medical attention!" You shouted.

"Please, don't take me there. Take me somewhere warm. Please," the boy pleaded desperately.

You had no choice but to comply to his wishes.

"Fine! But you better stay alive till we get there," your voice cracked. It was only obvious that you'd be scared in a situation like this, "can you stand?"

You helped him up as he swayed a bit before catching his balance.

"Let's hurry, my apartment isn't too far from here," you guided him through the cold wind, "if anything happens, just know that I'm going to call the paramedics."

You felt him nod a bit when you helped keep his heavy body steady since the height difference was way too dramatic.

You we're relieved when you reached the door of your apartment. You quickly pushed the door open after unlocking it and led the boy to your couch.

You ran to your room and piled blankets on him to keep him warm and you also raised the temperature of your heater.

"I'm going to make something warm, please let me know if you aren't feeling well," you ran to the kitchen and started to make ramen.

You saw a sudden blue glow erupt from your living room blinding you when you turned around.

"What's going on?!"

The light dimmed and diminished and the sight made you drop the pair of chopsticks in your hand.

"W-what..?"

"Hey! You must be (L/n) (F/n)!" The boy sat up strait and smiled cheerfully at you.

"I'm so confused," you exhaled and fell to your knees, "I hope you know what's happening."

"My names Oikawa Tooru!~" He stood up from your couch and held his hand out to help you up. You sighed as you took it and faced him directly hoping to get an explanation.

"I'm a... spirit?"

"Stop messing around! This isn't a joke! You nearly died out there then all of the sudden! You  turn into a damn glow stick and then you're suddenly totally fine!" You snapped at the taller brunette, "then you come to my apartment and tell me that your a god damn spirit?! You're obviously not mentally okay!"

"Wait! Don't call the medics! I'm okay! Just listen okay! It sound crazy but just listen to me," his face fell showing you that he wasn't lying to you, "I don't know where I came from. I only had one purpose in this world and that was to believe in the term 'an eye for an eye.' You saved my life out there, which means that, I have to pay my debt."

"I cant believe I'm actually believing this right now," you massaged your temples, "what debt though?"

"Since you saved my life, I have to pay you back by saving yours."

"That's.. that's crazy," you shook your head in disbelief.

"Also I'm not leaving you alone until the moment comes," he stated blankly, "meaning that I'm stuck with you until the time comes up!"

"WHAT?!"

You pinched yourself several times hoping that it was all a dream but to your misfortune, it wasn't. You slowly returned to cooking ramen as Oikawa hovered over you watching you cook.

"Can I have some space?" You pushed him a bit to the side.

"Anything can happen at any time (F/n)-Chan!"

"Okay, I don't care," you said bluntly making him pout.

"Do... spirits eat?" You asked separating the food into two bowls.

"Yep!"

"What if I starve you?"

"That's mean!"

"Can you die?"

"Nope! I need to fulfill my quest before I disappear!"

"That's unfortunate."

"(F/n)-Chan!!"

"Here, you can take yours," you sat down onto the couch as he plopped beside you, "it feels to unreal."

"Yeah, but you'll get used to it eventually." He chuckled.

"My life isn't risky, so it'll be some luck till the moment where my life's in danger comes."

"Then we'll be pretty close till the day happens right?"

You put away your bowl and went to your room to get some sleep from one of the most unusual day you've ever experienced. You hoped that you'd wake up to find out that everything was just a dream that was hard to wake up from.

You slowly opened your eyes and let out a long yawn while stretching your limbs. You tossed your body around the face the other way.

"AHH!"

You fell off the bed almost hitting your head on your night stand.

"OIKAWA! Get off my bed!" You picked up your pillow and tossed it at him, "so it wasn't a crazy dream, I hate this!"

"Good morning (F/n)-Chan," he yawned sleepily.

"What if I jump out the window?"

"You can, but you wouldn't though right?" he stated sitting up rubbing his eyes.

"But, you'll save my life right?"

"Well, yeah but how would you know if I can guarantee your safety? I mean you might be alive but you may end up with life-term injuries."

"Damn."

"The time may come eventually. But believe it or not I don't want to be here either," he smiled softly.

"So.. you can't just leave?" You asked sitting back onto the bed.

"Not until I save your life!"

"Alright, well I'm guessing your going to go with me to the cafe," you stood up and grabbed your clothes to change.

~

"I'll have a (favorite drink)," you rummaged through your bag to get your wallet, "Oikawa?"

"May I have a milk bread?" He spoke kindly.

You handed the barista money but she couldn't stop swooning over the male beside you. You looked back at Oikawa just to see him wink at the girl. You rolled your eyes and you gave her the money.

"Thank you."

You sat by a nearby table and he sat across from you.

"Your life's boring," he whined childishly he laid his head onto the table.

"Then you should've chosen a different location to 'die' in," you took a sip from your drink.

Your phone rang indicating someone was calling you. You opened your phone to see your best friends contact.

"Hey, I'm going to go outside to take this call," you stood up from your chair, "don't worry about me you can stay here. It won't be long."

You left the cafe and raised the phone to your ear.

"Hey (F/n)!"

"Hey (best friend's name)."

"How's it going?"

"Crazy and weird."

"Spill!"

"It's not really interesting. Just unlucky?"

"Hm. I guess so.. We haven't talked in awhile so I just wanted to call you."

You noticed a group of sketchy looking guys neared you down the sidewalk.

"Hey, I need to go I'll call you back later okay?"

"Oh.. okay?? Bye."

You hung up the phone and turned around to return back to the cafe until someone grabbed your shoulder.

"Hey, where are you going kitten?" A man cooed as another covered you mouth.

"Damn. Your strong as hell little girl," one groaned as you attempted to kick them.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Their grips loosed and you were pushed to the side. You tightly closed you eyes as all our could here was bodies falling to the floor.

"(F/n)-chan!" You felt strong arms wrap around you and pull you out of the alley. "Are you alright?"

"O-Oikawa," you opened you eyes still trembling from the event that had occurred, "you're still here.."

"Of course I am!"

"No I mean–"

"Oh that! It wasn't a life threatening situation," he smiled still not letting go of you.

"Then why did you save me? You could've gone," you left his grasp and faced him, "you could've waited till my life was in danger! You could've gone home!"

He was shocked from your words but his expression softened, "why would I just sit back and watch you get hurt just so I can go home? That would be selfish."

You struggled to respond to him and you only starred at the ground.

"Hey, it's alright. Whether your life is in danger or not. I'll still protect you even from the smallest things," he smiled softly after patting your head.

"Thank you.. Oikawa."

"Tooru."

"Hm?"

"Call me Tooru, (F/n)," he gave you a thumbs up making you smile.

"Let's go home, Tooru."

~

Two years had past and to your surprise you haven't gotten yourself killed yet. You we're happy to have Tooru by your side.

You'd hate to admit it but you had a crush on the handsome spirit. You couldn't really help it. He was always to kind and energetic. And ever since you met him you couldn't help but become really close. Mostly because he never left your side.

"Hey Tooru?" You popped your head out from the room.

"Yeah?"

"I know it's a weird question. But can I ask you something?" You sat down nervously next to the male who quickly turned towards you, "what if.. I never die?"

"Everything and everyone dies eventually (F/n)-chan!" He answered happily.

"I know.. but let's say I die from old age what will you do?"

"I'll disappear as well. I fulfilled my promise even if that were to happen."

"Yeah but.. don't you want to go back to where you came from? Staying here for that long. Even till now.."

"I'm willing to stay however long it may take," he smiled at you as he held your hand in his.

"Yeah but I want you to be happy," you spoke sadly.

"Hey, don't worry about me okay?" He smiled, "want to go somewhere to cheer up?"

"Lets go to an amusement park! We haven't gone in a while," you stood up and pulled him up.

"Let's go!"

~

You both had fun playing the games and riding on the rides.

"Bang!"

"Tooru! What was that?!"

He held your hand tightly running to a hiding spot.

"Someone has a gun."

"What?!"

Screams was all could be heard. The loud gunshots covered the playful music.

"Get down!"

The man got closer you curled up in an attempt to hid from the gun man.

He now stood above the both of you. You looked at him in the eyes.

You could see the pain and sorrow he held. You we're a deer in headlights.

"(F/n)!"

BANG!

Your eyes fluttered open.

A heavy body was leaning on you. The saw the man be tackled to the floor by security. You lifted your hands and you were alarmed to see blood.

"T-Tooru... Tooru! TOORU!"

You held him in your arms.

"Hang in there Tooru! Please! Help someone help!"

At the moment he was a human being to you.

Someone who was real.

Someone you loved.

Paramedics rushed to your side and quickly picked up the fallen brunette. All you could do was pray. Pray that he was going to be alright.

~

You were rushed to the hospital as well to ensure that you weren't hurt as well. But you didn't care if you got hurt.

Thoughts only filled your mind.

'If only we haven't gone to the amusement park'

'If only we weren't at the place where we were supposed to be'

"It's all my fault."

The doctor approached your broken figure.

"I'm sorry, I don't know if we can help him."

"Can I see him!"

"Yes."

You quickly followed the doctor to the room and immediately broke down in tears when you saw him.

Closing the door behind you, you ran to him and hugged him tightly.

"I'm okay (F/n)-chan! I'm not human after all," he wrapped his arm around you trying to keep his happy expression.

"I don't care! You're real to me! You shouldn't have saved me!" Tears cascaded down your face.

"I had to. You would've been killed. I wouldn't be able to stand that. I'd still be here. Without you," his hot tears soaked your shirt, "look at me, I'm going to fade away anyways. Don't cry. You're still alive. Be happy."

"I want you to be here. I don't want you to leave me," you sobbed loudly.

"I'm always going to watch over you okay? I promise," he placed his forehead against yours.

"No!"

"I wish I could've stayed longer. I wish I could've spend a little more time with you. I want more time. I don't want to go either!" He sobbed.

You held him tightly feeling his body become lighter from touch.

He was fading.

Removing himself from you arms he kissed you softly and smiled at you.

"Smile for me. One more time," he wiped the tears from your eyes.

You managed to let out a sad smile making him chuckle a bit.

"I love you, (F/n)-chan..."

His body disappeared in thin air and all was left was a necklace that you have gifted him.

"I love you too Tooru," you cried.

The nurses rushed in to see the thin flat line on the machine but no body on the bed.

"Where did he go?"

You turned around to face the nurse and smiled softly.

"He disappeared."
