Layla

I woke up to my head pounding.

I opened my eyes and flinched back at the light.

After adjusting my eyes I groaned loudly and got out of bed.

I went to the bathroom and did my business before leaving to go to the kitchen to grab Tylenol.

I swallowed down the pills and closed my eyes.

The memories slowly came back to me and I nearly slapped myself for being so weak.

That's what I get for drinking.

It's like I don't have control of my feelings when I'm around him.

But I knew that I wouldn't let him back in that easy.

Even though my love for him hadn't changed.

I sighed and walked to my closet getting ready for the day.

Landon's words kept replying in my head throughout the whole day.

"Soon."

I was trying to figure out what he meant by that, but unfortunately got no where.

He seemed so distant and cold towards me but then his mood drastically changed when he saw me crying.

It was like he was being forced to act cold towards me.

The weekend came by much sooner than I expected.

Violet and Eliot went to visit there parents back in our small town outside of New York City.

So that left me to be alone in our dorms all weekend.

It was now Saturday morning and I decided to go for a morning walk to the college cafe down the road.

I walked down the corridors and began to put my AirPods into my ears.

Just as I was about to start my playlist I hear a low hushed voice coming from the hall to my left.

Out of pure curiosity I peeked my head around the wall only to be met with Andre and Landon.

Andre spoke to Landon quietly as Landon's back faced me.

"Oak park tomorrow, 8 pm." Landon says to Andre.

"Okay. I'll get the guys to tell Matteo." Andre says.

Landon nodded his head and ran a hand through his hair.

"You think it'll work?" Andre asks worriedly.

"It's been months now, we've earned his trust. It'll work." Landon says as he starts turning around.

I jump back and quietly move away from the corridor and step to the side where he couldn't see me.

I heard his footsteps get quieter and quieter as he left the building.

I moved out of from the side and frowned.

"Layla?" I hear Andres's voice call.

I turn my head and see him standing just where he was before.

"Andre." I say and walk up to him.

"Please tell me what's happening," I asl desperately.

"Why is Landon acting like that." I exaggerate.

He sighs and runs a hand through his hair.

"Layla, I-I can't." He blurts out looking at the floor.

"What do you mean you can't ?" I say a bit more angrily.

"Andre, please." I desperately say looking into his eyes.

His eyes find mine and they soften.

"Fine." He says quietly.

He moves away and nods his head towards his dorm room door.

He opens it and walks in without saying a word.

I follow behind him and close the door on the way in.

He walks towards a room and sits down on a chair in the room.

He nods at me to close the door which I do.

I sit down opposite him and look around the room.

It seemed like a pretty normal office room.

"It's soundproof. No one can hear us in here." He tells me.

I nod my head slowly.

"Landons uncle, Matteo, the one you met that night,

He starts to tell me, I sit up straight and listen closely.

he's Landons Mafia rival." He finishes.

My eyes widen at the realisation.

Makes sense now with all the tension.

"Matteo has been trying to get Landons Mafia and his own, to join together." He tells me.

"If they were to join, it would probably be the most powerful Mafia to ever exist."

I look at him in shock.

"Matteo's Mafia is very powerful, but ours is even more powerful." He states.

"Landon doesn't want that though, he couldn't care less." Andre says shrugging.

"Landon and Matteo never got along, neither did Landon or his father." He states running a hand through his brown hair.

"Matteo's been threatening your life. He said that if Landon were not to join him then he would kill you. And we knew that he would, that man does not lie." Andre clenches his jaw in anger and his fists.

"He gave us until that night."

"We had a plan, it was going to work out perfectly. He would be dead, so would his Mafia."

Andre sighs sadly and shakes his head.

"Unfortunately, Dante decided to betray us and gave away everything we had planned."

I frown and feel instant anger rise within me for Dante.

How could he do that?

He was their friends, best friends.

"Long story short, Landon and I had to think quick in order to save you."

"We knew if we didn't give in to his wishes, you would be dead. And we couldn't just kill Matteo there, he had far way to many men surrounding us."

"So we had a plan." Andre says clasping his hands together.

"Earn his trust, stay away from you to make him think that you weren't important to Landon anymore, and then shoot to kill." He states casually.

I look at him in shock which seemed to be the only thing I'd been doing these last 10 minutes.

"And what you heard just then, is the end to our misery." Andre says smiling now.

I take in all the information becoming overwhelmed.

He didn't leave me on purpose.

He was protecting me.

"Soon."

"He loves you Layla." Andre suddenly says.

My head snaps to him as my eyes widen.

"W-What ?" I stutter out.

Andre rolls his eyes.

"Come on, you know he does. Even though he hadn't said it yet, he is utterly and madly in love with you." Andre says grinning widely.

"I'm warning you know though Layla, don't interfere. I know how worried you can get over him, he'll be okay." Andre says seriously.

I nod my head in understanding.

I wrap my head around everything that has happened.

All of a sudden I feel strong arms wrap around me.

I look to see Andre giving me his usual bear hugs, though this was one was more sincere.

"I'm sorry for all the pain we've caused you, we didn't want to but had no choice." Andre mumbles into my shoulder.

"And if you knew what was going on, it would only make things worse for it all." He whispers.

"It looked more real for Matteo's men to see you and Landon unhappy, as much as it is fucked up it's what we had to do in order to keep the plan steady." Andre tells me quietly.

I sigh softly and rub his back soothingly.

"Thanks for telling me, Andre." I tell him honestly.

Andre pulls away and places a kiss on my forehead.

"Of course. Your like the sister I never had." He says smiling.

I laugh and shake my head at him.

"Just don't tell Landon I told you, he'll most likely kill me." Andre says honestly.

I roll my eyes but nod my head.

Andre moves away and opens the door.

I get up and make my way out of the room.

I know he said not to interfere, but I couldn't help it.

Landon is the love of my life after all.

Oak park. 8pm. Tomorrow.

Looks like my weekend was going to get a lot more interesting.
