Rose POV

Me and Ponyboy were walking with our arms intertwined in the direction of In-and-Out Burger.

"So Rose?" He asked.

"Yes?"

"What's your ideal first date?" He asked as we sat down. Why did he want to know? Did he not have anything planned already? Was he just winging it? I hope not.

"Something simple I guess. Why? What's yours?"

"Just wondering. I guess I wouldn't care what we do as long as we can talk and interact. Not like at the movies. I mean it's nice and all but not for a date."

"Yah, I find it tacky and un-original when guys take girls to the movies." I replied honestly.

"Why'd you ask? Is it to find out where I'm taking you after we leave here?"

"No, I was just being curious."

"If you say so. You didn't think this would be it though, did you?" He asked.

"I hadn't really thought about what we'd do, I was just excited to be with you honestly."

"I have to admit I felt the same way at first. Then Soda told me everything I was doing wrong." He said as he rolled his eyes. I laughed a little and he grinned.

"What?" I said while grinning back.

"You have a cute laugh."

This time it was my turn to roll my eyes. "I hate my laugh. I sound awful." I replied.

"You sound adorable, what makes you think that?" Ponyboy asked as he grabbed my hand on the table. We both blushed and moved our hands at the same time.

We ate ice cream and a burger each then we left. We waked in the direction of the park and sat on the swings together. We talked for what felt like hours.

"I don't get how you can be so sweet now, but at the movies when you asked me out you were like a complete opposite person." I said as I kicked the dirt.

"People act different when they're around their friends, ya know?"

"Ya. I like the real Ponyboy better." I replied.

"Me to. Hey, when's your curfew?" He asked randomly.

"Uhh, midnight I think?" I asked more than stated. He got up and grabbed my hand. He practically dragged me away from the park.

"Ponyboy where are we going?" I said while giggling.

"I heard the carnival was in town. Wanna go?" He asked.

"I'd love to." I grinned and we walked hand in hand to the carnival grounds.

"Where do you want to go first?" He asked me after he paid for the tickets. I was so excited, I had never been to the circus before.

"I don't know, it al looks so much fun!!!" I exclaimed. He laughed at my enthusiasm then led me to the ferris wheel. I gulped nervously. Ponyboy must've seen cause he asked me what was wrong.

"It's nothing." I answered.

"It must be something. You can tell me, don't worry." He said as he put his hand on my shoulder.

"I'm fine, don't worry." I didn't know what to do so I hugged him around the waist with one hand. He wrapped his around my shoulder comfortingly. I inhaled his scent and smiled to myself. He smelt like mint, cologne, and a slight hint of tabaco. We got in the car and I could tell this was a bad idea. It didn't look that high when we were on the ground but when we were at the top and we heard an awful screeching sound, I got pretty scared. I had subconsciously grabbed his hand while he rubbed his thumb over my knuckles. The car swayed back and forth in a jerky motion that made me feel like I was about to be sick. I scooted closer to Ponyboy, trying to not let him notice I was scared.

"Are you ok Rose?" He asked.

"No," I answered honestly. "I-I'm terrified of heights." I continued.

"Don't be embarrassed, loads of people are." He said.

"Yah, loads of six year old kids." I rolled my eyes.

"I think it's cute." He said. I snorted. Ugh I felt so embarrassed! About the heights thing and snorting. Ponyboy laughed and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. I cuddled closer into him and closed my eyes. I couldn't look down without freaking out. He rubbed his hand up and down my arms to keep me warm since it was so cold up there. Eventually it started working again and we got down. Unfortunately my curfew grew nearer and we had to get home. As we reached my house Ponyboy stopped me right before I walked in.

"I had a really good time tonight." He said.

"Me to. Sorry about chickening out on the Ferris wheel." I said blushing.

"Don't worry about it, you looked cute.

"Stop it." I rolled my eyes and waved my hand in the air. We both laughed at my awkwardness.

"I hope we could do it again some time?" Ponyboy asked.

"I'd love to. Next time though, let's not go on the Ferris Wheel." I said half joking half serious. He nodded and grinned. He grabbed my hand and kissed it. He did a goofy bow like you would see in a Disney movie and waved his hand around in the air.

"'Till tomorrow, my princess." I giggled and curtsied in response.

"Till tomorrow, my prince." We both stood up and laughed.

I walked in and ran to the window. I watched him walk away through the blinds.

"Have a good time?" I heard someone ask behind me.

I saw my brother on the couch with a smirk.

"You're not mad?" I asked.

"Why would I be mad? You were right, and I'm sorry." He said. I could tell it was hard for him to admit he was wrong, he doesn't do it often.

"I forgive you." I kissed him on the cheek then went up to my room and fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.
