Three Months Later

"This is some bullshit" Bambi said to Bria who was dying laughing. They were watching two of Bambi's cousins fuss over who got the better prize for the game they had just played. They were quickly turning Bambi's elegant baby shower in to a hood fest. Bambi was just surprised things hadn't gone left earlier.

Eventually Bambi grew tired of them arguing and she stood from her throne like chair and walked over to them. Without saying a word, she took both of their prizes and gave them to the runner ups.

"Yall should be ashamed" one of Bambi's aunts said shaking her head like she hadn't been sitting right next to them watching them fuss.

"This is some hood shit" Nate's drunk ass was laughing along with her uncles who sat at a table nearby.

Bambi didn't say anything to any of them, she was ready to go eat some more food. "You good?" Lauren came over holding Ava.

She nodded as she took her sister and took her seat once again. They were supposed to be opening gifts next but it would take hours if Bambi opened the amount of shit she had gotten. Bambi had never even planned on having a baby shower better yet one as extravagant as this. But her family insisted and her aunts friend who was a party planner put it all together.

Instead of opening the gifts, Bambi cut the cake and soon the baby shower was a full on party. Not that she minded, she knew her family was good for turning shit into a party.

"You have a visitor" Bria nodded her head towards the door where Flip stood, with Joy of all people.

Bambi laughed but didn't move to go greet him, the disrespect was all too real.

Seconds later Lauren came rushing over with wide eyes. "Is that the bitch he cheated on you with?" she stood with her hands on her hips.

"Yeah, that's why I'm not going to say anything. He is disrespectful." 

"Sure is, I should go hit her ass" Bria's face showed how disgusted she was.

"Whatever I'm going to get some cake."

"Can I have my baby?" Lauren asked Bambi. She always ended up hogging Ava and wouldn't let anybody get close to her.

"No" Bambi said over her shoulder. The cake table was in sight of Flip and she knew he would see her but she didn't mind. Cake was more important than him.

Bambi picked up a plate of cake and a cake pop and was prepared to go back to her seat. "Bam" he called out and walked over with his chick in tow.

"What?" Bambi turned around.

"Is this your mama baby?" he asked after seeing Ava.

Bambi nodded and waiting for him to say what he needed to say so she could go sit down. "I just wanted to show my face, even though this shit already packed."

"Thanks for coming but you couldn't leave her home" she motioned towards Joy, who stood looking around. "I understand we're not together and never will be but this is the bitch you fucked during our whole relationship. and don't get me wrong I fucked up too but can I at least get a little respect. You didn't have to bring the bitch here."

"It's Joy, not bitch" she commented.

Bambi wasn't even going to attempt to be cordial with her or dignify her with a response. "Bye Flip. I'll call you when my child is here."

She walked away and didn't look back.

"Man this is too much shit" Nate complained. He was moving all the gifts Bambi had gotten into the house, he had been going back and forth for close to an hour.

"I'm sorry, I told you my family always come through."

She hadn't been lying, they had brought everything she put on her registry from the least expensive to the most expensive. Her baby girl would be set for a long time.

"Fuck this. I'll finish later" Nate dropped the box he held and took off his shirt before laying down on her bedroom floor. Bambi stood from her bed and sat next to him on the floor. He was sweaty as hell and already about to take a nap.

"Don't go to sleep" she shook him.

He didn't even give her a response, he placed his arm over his eyes and tuned Bambi out. Rolling her eyes, she tried her hardest to straddle him but ended up falling on his chest waking him.

"Sorry" Bambi laughed knowing she had to be heavy.

Nate couldn't even be mad after seeing how awkwardly she was laying on top of him. She was finally able to pull herself up and straddle him like she had been trying to do.

"What if my water broke right now?"

"I would push your ass clean off me" he said seriously.

Bambi laughed before she leaned down to kiss him. "I can't wait for this baby to come. I just want some answers."

"We all do" Nate rubbed her stomach with both of his hands.

For the most part both Nate and Bambi avoided talking about the baby not being his. Ever since they had gotten together officially it just had been easier to act like none of that had ever happened. Especially for Nate, who wanted the baby to be his so badly.

"If she's not yours, I would understand if you broke up with me" Bambi was sincere. She knew most man didn't want to play daddy to kids that weren't theirs.

"I aint going nowhere Bam, I'm with you because I love you. If the baby is not mines I will still love you and her."

Bambi nodded surprised that she wasn't crying yet. For the past eight months she had become so used to being emotional but as her pregnancy came to a close she found herself getting back to normal a little.

"Flip came to the baby shower with his girlfriend."

"The white chick?" Bambi nodded "where was I?"

"Drunk with my uncles and acting an ass on the dance floor."

Nate laughed remembering the time he had at the baby shower. Her uncles welcomed him in like he was their nephew and they all ended up on their asses after taking advantage of the free bar.

"Damn that was a wild ass baby shower, did he say anything to you?"

"He tried but I wasn't trying to hear it, he was so disrespectful bringing that bitch to my baby shower. I told him I'll call him after the baby was born."

Nate nodded understanding where she was coming from. "As long as he didn't ruin your day I don't care."

"He didn't, I had a lot of fun."

"I'm glad you did."

Well into that night Nate lay sleep next to Bambi who was up on her phone. She couldn't get comfortable in her bed and had already grown tired of tossing and turning. She had been trying to ignore the cramps she was having since she was in no way ready to go into labor. Plus it was two weeks before her actual due date.

It scared her to think about the pain she would be in and even more she was scared to finally be a mother. With Ava around she had been getting some practice but whenever she got tired she could always give her back to her mama. She couldn't do that with her own child.

Feeling another cramp Bambi mistakenly grabbed onto Nate's arm instead of the sheets like she had been. He turned over and looked at Bambi who was trying to breathe through the pain.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm having contractions but my water hasn't broken so I'm trying to stick it out."

Nate sat up in the bed and stretched out his arms. "I'll stay up with you. I been sleeping since eight" he looked at his phone to see it was close to five in the morning.

"I'm scared to stand up, that's how Diamond water broke. She was having cramps in bed and when she stood up her water broke."

"So don't stand up."

"But I gotta pee" Bambi whined.

Nate laughed and stepped out of bed going over to Bambi's side. He grabbed her hands to help her up. "Come on Bambi, you can't hold your pee forever."

"Yes I can" she snatched her hands away from him and folded her arms across her chest.

"Fine go ahead and mess up your new sheets with all that baby juice."

Bambi looked down at the new sheet set she had just spent 60 dollars on. It was enough to get her to stand up. She was able to take a few steps toward the bathroom before she felt liquid that wasn't her pee wetting the inside of her thighs.

"Oh god" she groaned feeling between her legs.

"Damn it broke for real?" Nate didn't even realize the disgusted look on his face.

Bambi noticed it and punched him in the arm "don't look at me like that. Go tell my mama."

She crab walked to the bathroom not liking how she was feeling between her legs. She peed before taking a quick shower and getting dressed.

By the time she was finished everyone was ready to go. Diamond was staying with the kids until it was time for her to drop Eric and Giselle to school.

Bambi cried the entire ride to the hospital, and cried even harder once they put her into a room. The realization of what was getting ready to happen began to settle in and the only way she knew how to deal with it was to cry.

Once she was able to calm down a little bit, she had her mama text Flip and Roland just to let them know she was in labor. Flip promised to come later on in the day  and Roland told her to let him know whenever the baby was actually born.

Bambi was in labor for seven hours and just as she was getting ready to ask the doctor for an epidural she found out it was too late. She was ten centimeters dilated and had to push.

Holding onto her mother and Nate's hands while Diamond was off to the side taking pictures Bambi pushed Lola Amira into the world.
