Short chapter but enjoy anyways!

Sitting next to Flip on the trunk of his car Bambi watched as him and his cousins Bryan and Nell smoked and cracked jokes together. They had been outside for a while as they waited for a few of their other family members to come over.

"Man I'm going to miss the fuck out of Noah ass man" Nell said with a shake of his head.

"Me too, that was my nigga man" Flip sighed and took a long pull from his joint.

"Niggas are so reckless" Bambi said and they all agreed.

Feeling her phone vibrate Bambi picked it up to see Bria texting her about their plans to go out the upcoming weekend.

"They're they go right there" Bryan said as a black Chrysler 300 neared the house, Bambi didn't even look up she was too busy texting Bria.

As they pulled up to the house Nate stretched his arms out and yawned to shake off the hour nap she had taken on their way home from the funeral home. This had been the first time he had gotten any real sleep since he had found out about Noah's death. Feeling the car go into park Nate hopped out and waited for his grandma and aunt to go in the house before approaching his cousins.

As he stepped in front of them his eyes immediately went to Bambi who sat texting on her phone not even noticing his arrival.

"Bambi?" he said trying to make sure he was seeing the right person.

Bambi looked up and the expression on her face said a million words at once. Closing her eyes for a brief second Bambi hoped he would be gone when she opened them but he wasn't.

"Yall know each other?" Flip asked looking between the both of them.

"No" Bambi hopped off the trunk of the car, and attempted to walk away only for Flip to grab her wrist. She turned to look him in the eyes.

"Later" was all she said as she removed his hand from her wrist and left.

Nate's eye didn't leave Bambi until she had disappeared into her house. He stood dumbfounded, not believing that of all the people he auntie could have lived down the street from it had to be Bambi.

Both Flip and Nate finally took the time to look at each other. Without any words being exchanged they came to an agreement to speak on Bambi at a different time. Since there was definitely some shit that needed to be talked about.

"You feeling alright?" Bryan the oldest of them asked knocking Nate out of his trance.

"As good as I'm going to get" they all nodded in understanding. He embraced his other cousin Nell as well.

"Here man I know you need this shit" Flip passed Nate a thick joint that he gladly accepted.

Nate took pulls from the joint letting his mind wander for just a little. Times like this was when Noah would be outside doing some crazy shit or making fun of somebody walking by.

Bambi burst into the house breathing heavily and still in shock from seeing Nate. "Ma" she yelled out.

"Diamond!" she yelled out again making both of them damn near run into the living room.

"What's wrong? I was watching The first 48" Diamond annoyingly sat down on the couch.

"Nate is here" both of them looked at her sideways.

"How?" her mama asked with a confused expression.

"He's cousins with Flip" Bambi whined as she fell back on the couch "I don't even know what to think right now."

"Stop lying Bam, they real cousins? Real real cousins?" Diamond asked looking shocked as well. Bambi nodded and both her mama and sister burst out laughing.

"Why are yall laughing this is serious shit?" Bambi was on the verge of tears and they were still getting a good laugh out of the situation. She felt so unlucky, and knew something like this would only happen to her.

"I'm sorry Bam, but that's messed up. Out of all people he could have been related to it had to be Flip" Diamond shook her head and laughed once again.

"The same Flip, that just said he wanted to be with you" Lauren added.

"I feel so bad because—" Bambi took a second as she thought about what Nell had said earlier. "Man I'm going to miss the fuck out of Noah ass man."

"It's his brother that got killed" Bambi's thoughts went to the short time she had spent with Noah but it was enough for her to like him. Which made knowing he passed away a lot sourer.

"Damn" they said together.

Bambi groaned as she rubbed her head feeling a migraine coming on. At this point she didn't know what to think or say. She was feeling for Nate knowing how close he was with Noah, but she was also reeling over the fact that he was down the street in the flesh. And he was related to Flip, it was honestly too much.

It was around three in the morning when Nate picked up his phone and called a number he would never forget. After seeing Bambi, a whole slew of new emotions had piled onto his shoulders making him more stressed than he had before.

"What?" her voice came over the phone and he was shocked that she had even answered.

"Bambi it's me" he said hoping she didn't curse him out.

"Obviously. Nate what do you want?"

"Come outside I want to talk to you" he heard her chuckle before the line went dead.

Sighing he called her back until she answered "it's too late for this bullshit Nate. I don't want to talk to you. I'm sorry about Noah I really am and you know that. But we don't have anything to talk about" she hung up and Nate didn't bother calling back.

Bambi looked at her phone feeling so bad for hanging up on him but she couldn't help how her heart felt. Knowing she was getting ready to cry her eyes out at any moment she threw the covers from her body and went to join her mother in bed. For whatever reason she didn't like crying alone these days.

"You okay?" Lauren turned so that she was facing her after she felt her bed dip.

"No" was all Bambi said.

"It's alright baby" Bambi nodded as she wiped her tears.
