No one could make a move before the child – Steven Universe – he called himself, and ourselves. Everyone was frozen in wait.

I hesitantly covered my gem away from their sight, watching as my friend Pearl maintained her defensive stance before them.

"Identify yourselves." Pearl demanded, her brows furrowed as she took one step forward.

From the corner of my eye, I could see Steven look to us and then to the other Gems, his mouth turned into a tight frown as he seemed to debate on what action to take. The others, on the other hand, summoned out their own weapons, holding similar poses to my Pearl's.

"W- Wait, guys!" Steven intervened, once spotting the fusion take even more steps closer, her grit teeth and tense figure showing she was just about to attack us. "They're friendly! We were just getting to know each other — This is. . ."

He stopped in the middle of his introduction, looking up to me as a sheepish smile crossed his face.

"Uh. . . What should I call you?" He asked. "I know you're a Diamond, but. . ."

I smiled back at him, a hint of a laugh threatening to escape my lips as I thought over how I should introduce myself to him.

"My name is (Y/N)." I replied.

The boy nodded before turning back to the other Gems to continue with his introduction.

"That's (Y/N). . . and this is Black Pearl!" He pointed at my Pearl, her weapons fading away as she held a posture similar to that of a soldier from Homeworld.

Similar to the way he'd looked at me, he glanced over to my Pearl, rubbing the back of his head as he asked her a question, once more halting his introductions.

While he asked her what she would like to be called, I could feel the other Gems' stares on my gemstone that was located on my right wrist – standing out prominently. Their stares held a mixture of confusion, uncertainty, and there was suspicion, though I held the opposite – I was more curious than anything else.

It was odd to see gems out in the open, since White had kept me away for my safety.

Even so, that was question that I had wondered for centuries – I wondered why she'd done it in the first place.

"This is Black Pearl, but you can call her BP!"

Steven's words brought me out of my thoughts, allowing me to focus instead on the scenario unfolding itself before me.

My Pearl had taken a few more steps towards the Gems, the pale Pearl that accompanied them approaching her.

Wary over the safety of my friend, I took a step forward myself, anxiously waiting to see what would happen next.

"Are you. . . not alliances with Homeworld, then?" The pale Pearl spoke, her expression perplexed as she stared at my friend with awe. "It is rare for a Diamond and her companion to be out here, not pledging loyalty to Homeworld by following their orders."

"We. . ." My Pearl began, casting a quick look to my direction before facing the other Pearl again. "We are not. We. . . We are looking to find shelter here on Earth."

"You're a Pearl after your own heart!" Pearl exclaimed, her voice hinting at happiness, yet still maintaining her distance. "It's lovely to see another Pearl chasing after her own desires."

"My Diamond's safety is still my top priority." She replied, looking back to me with a smile. "But. . . Yes, I – I do have a wish of my own."

Her voice, often composed and melodic, seemed to falter a little when saying that, allowing for a warm smile to cross my face.

"There is, of course, one thing we both want to have."

"And what would that be?" The pale one inquired.

"Freedom." She said with certainty.

Proud of my Pearl's achievement, I walked closer to her side, introducing myself to everyone else with the gentle wave of my hand.

"It is a pleasure to meet with you all." I spoke, forming my words with caution so as to not spill any important information or details regarding why we were here. "My name is (Y/N), though I believe Steven has already introduced
