It was late, and Devlin had already booked Katrina and Jared's flight back home.

Although she would have liked to see her mother and Catherine; Their absence only made things worse for her leave.

Helen sat at the end of the stairs, while Jared brought their things down. Their bags were packed, and Katrina sensed a meltdown with her family.

Since breakfast, her sisters have been in a depressing mood. Helen stayed quiet in the car, while Angel and the girls were asleep. She thought of the conversation she had with Melanie.

"You should visit more often Butterball.."

Katrina knew the answer to that one.

Her scars still ran deep in Catalina. "I know, but.. I just need more time." Melanie sneezed, and looked for a tissue.

"We can give you that." She brokenly murmured. Jared uncomfortably shifted in his seat, and Devlin quietly sat, while looking out the window.

"I'm glad you came, you know; You're always welcome back home anytime you visit."

Katrina smiled and seen her sister's face in the rear view mirror, she had been crying; But hid it well.

When they were at Melanie's.

All of their bags were packed, and Jared and Devlin awkwardly stood near the door waiting for her family to emerge, and say their goodbyes.

"I hate this." Helen whispered, hugging her tightly.

Katrina smiled and hugged her back.

"You know I have a life missy." Helen giggled. "Yeah but this is your life too... Please remember that." It hurt her to see both of her sister's upset, but she had to go back home. Melanie gave Katrina the longest hug, and kissed her on the cheek. They both stared at each other for a few minutes, then began to laugh.

"Next time; Text me, before you just pop up at somebody's house. You never know; Angel got fire knives." Katrina giggled.

"Alright." Katrina murmured.

"Bye Curly." Jared said at Melanie, and she gave him a skeptical look then laughed, giving him a long hug.

"I'm gonna miss you too, you green gay goblin." They both chuckled, and Jared whispered: "You too." Katrina loved, that her family accepted him.

Angel gave Katrina a bear hug, and said: "Good Luck." While Melanie gave Devlin a light hug.

"You break her heart, I break your face." Devlin let out a deep heartedly laugh. "I won't." He said, giving her a rueful grin and Melanie laughed. "Alright now de--vl--inn; I ain't playin with ya, this is serious business!"

Angel gave Devlin a hard hug, and they exchanged numbers.

"If you ever need anything call me bro." Devlin nodded and smiled. "Thanks buddy." Helen poked Devlin, and gave him a quick hug, and then she went over to Jared, and stood in front of him with her arms folded. "I had fun." She said, trying to sound mature. Jared just awkwardly laughed, and gave her a quick hug, she hugged back; But stayed on longer than he intended.

It was a 'fan-surprise-celebrity-on-stage-' hug. And Katrina giggled; But quickly shut her mouth, when she seen Jared shoot her a look.

Katrina would have liked to see her nieces, but they were sleeping.

As they headed out the door, and walked over to the BMW, Devlin got a call, he excused himself and went further ahead of them. Her family stood by the door waving, and she waved back, her and Jared slowly walked alongside each other to the car.

When Jared looked back and her family was in the house, he shoved Katrina; Luckily, they had already placed their belongings in the trunk.

"Wha ha hat!?" She said giggling.

"Why is your sister acting like I'm her Prince or something?"

"Have you ever thought that maybe.. Just maybe it was not me this time!"

She yelled, laughing and shoving him. He fell hard on the floor, and she screamed and giggled running towards the car. Jared just stood up and wiped his butt off, he slowly grinned; Saying to himself.
"I'm getting you." He ran over to her and she screamed again, and ran far from the car, where the other cars were parked.

Jared let out a boyish laugh when Katrina slid and fell; But still managed to look back at him like a rabbit being caught in the desert. He ran for the prey, and she quickly got up and hobbled in front of a truck.

Devlin wasn't paying any attention to what Tanya was telling him. He was watching Katrina and Jared play around like two eight year olds.

Sometimes it was hard to believe that Jared was gay, because of the love he showed for Katrina. He thought of life before prison; When he used to be playful with the girls he used to date.

Like Tanya; With her Persian pride and his Armenian soul; He thought they were perfect together. He wasn't so sure now, since he met Katrina. Devlin leaned against the car and replied to her, when she asked if he was listening:

Yes, Isum? (Are you listening?)

Ya, aghjik inch' Minch' yev? (Ya girl what's up?)

Aghjik? Why you call me dat? Thought I was your sirel hmmm? Inch'u yes lsum e mi aghjka e hetin plan? Girl? Why you call me that, thought I was your love hmmm? Why do I hear a girl in the background?

inch'u yek' harts'num, shat harts'yer nra annoying? Why do you ask too many questions, it's annoying?"

There was a silent pause, then he heard Tanya sigh. He rolled his eyes, and glanced over at where Jared was; He tried grabbing Katrina, but she dodged him, and ran for the other car, Devlin stared at his watch. It was almost time for them to leave.

Yes havent tesel yek' , k'ani vor bantum, yev derr dzez yen nshanakum. I haven't seen you since prison, and yet you are mean.

im misht dur e galis ays voch'inch' ch'i p'vokhvel. I'm always like this, nothing has changed.

Devlin irritatedly stated. He was beginning to not like talking on the phone since his mother called a lot.

"What's ap?" He finally said in English. He didn't much embrace his second language; Or third, but he knew damned well, that Tanya could speak English.

"Bebek, my father is around. I can't speak to you like this." She whispered.

He rolled his eyes. "Well then maybe you shouldn't live wit your parents." He sarcastically said. He didn't care if he hurt her feelings, he just wanted to get off the phone with her.

"When are you coming back?"

He took a long time to answer her.

"Tomorrow." He lied, and shut off the phone. He was extremely annoyed at her. She didn't even hit him up when he got out, so there was no point in talking to her right now.

"Yo!" He called out to the both of them. They stopped running and slowly went back to the car.

"You two having fun playing tag?" He asked, giving Katrina a small smile, and then opened the door and got in. Jared got in the back, and Katrina walked over to the front.

The ride back was silent, and he knew Katrina could tell he was in a bad mood, because she kept looking at him, she rested her hand on his. He took it, and looked around Catalina.

"So... What's going on with you?" Jared asked him, when the silence was getting too much. "Just people bugging me." He said short, he wasn't in the mood to talk about the people either.

They stopped at a red light, and Devlin watched as the sky began to get dark. They were almost to the airport, and he was really going to miss this car. Katrina had been fast asleep; She rested her chair back, and was curled to the side, so no one could see her face. He heard Jared texting, and then he let out an aggravated sigh.

"You okey?" He asked him.

Jared put his phone down.

"Yeah... It's just... Guy problems."

Devlin nodded. "Look, you're not bad Devlin, and I know Katrina really likes you so.. I'm glad she's going to be working for you... I'm just going to miss her at work..." He admitted.

"How'd you two meet?" Devlin asked. It felt like his voice was getting deeper and deeper, so he cleared his throat.

"She bumped into me in the parking lot." Devlin chuckled, they worked together, but weren't exactly friends yet. "You know how Katrina is; Apologizing and looking innocent.. I couldn't even be mean."

"How could you? She's so sweet."

Devlin murmured, laughing low, Jared smiled. "I've been meaning to ask you? What did you think of her when you first met her?"

Devlin thought for a minute. He thought; Out of all the places, he met her in the woods, that his racist friends met up at. He remembered when she walked past him, how he instantly became extremely heightened by her beauty.

She's hot, and he's never seen her before. He thought she was some mystical creature, that came out of no where.

He was annoyed at the men who kept saying Jude was first pick, he just remembered hoping that she wasn't interested in him.

"Like every other man.. She's hot, I also thought that she would be way too smart for someone like me."

"I think you're pretty smart." Jared told him, fidgeting in his seat.

They finally reached the airport, and Devlin pulled up next to terminal one.

After a long flight, they all were finally in Minerva.

Devlin dropped Jared off at home. Katrina was too exhausted to drive herself home so she stayed over Devlin's mom's house.

When they reached the steps, he heard a few people inside laughing. He opened the door, and found his mother with Jessica, and a few of Jessica's friends in the living room. They were excessively drinking; And his mother was slurring her words, as she came over to him.

"Son! You're home! Look, Jessica was playing beer ping." She laughed, then tripped over the coffee table. Jessica's friends started laughing at her.

"Get out!" Devlin snapped. That woke Katrina up; She rubbed her eyes and looked around, seeing drunk teenagers, and his mother. The kids didn't budge, one kid abruptly sat up; Glared at Tigranui, and shook it off and stayed calm. "Stop yelling Devlin." His mother mumbled, scratching her head.

"Do you know wat' time it is?" He yelled, storming in the room and grabbing a guy by his shirt.

"If you all don't get the fuck out of my house, you'll be picking up your jaws from your necks." He sneered.

People immediately scrambled out the door. Jessica slowly tried to get up from the couch, but failed miserably and knocked down a beer.

"Jessie sit the fuck down!" He yelled, and Jessica slowly sat down. Katrina walked over to the kitchen table, and sat down on a bar stool. She hasn't seen this side of him and it scared her, he was fuming. His face had a frightening sneer, and he was pacing. It was just the four of them now in the house.

Devlin stood by the T.V. And he had his legs, and arms folded in a fatherly stance. He angrily looked down at Tigranui and Jessica.

"Katrina could you go in my room please?" She silently nodded. "It's the room to the left across from.. Bathroom." He said in such a foreign way, forgetting 'the'. She got up and went to his room, before she shut the door, she could hear Tigranui sigh and giggle. She closed the door, and plopped on his bed, she leaned over to her side and yawned.

Devlin didn't want to yell anymore, he was exhausted. His mother and sister is drunk, and he doubt that they will remember the conversation the next day.

"Jessie, just go shower and go to your room." He grumbled, surprisingly; She didn't talk back, she listened, got up, and slowly went to the bathroom.

He was alone with his mother.

He sat down on the couch next to her, and grabbed a miller off the table. His mother sat down next to him and laid her head on his chest.

"I miss your father Sirel... I can't move forward without him being in my life."

A tear crept its way down her cheek, and she wiped it and sighed. "I'm sorry for all the things, I put you through, I know you are angry with me." She patted his hand. "I love you son; Please, don't be mad at me, you and your sister are my only friends and family."

"Mom stop saying dat you have friends." He growled, she nodded her head and frowned. "I wish."He breathed out, and placed his hand on his head.

"Mother.. You are an amazing woman, why do you think so badly about yourself?"

She looked up at him. "One day, when you have children, you will know the sacrifices. And you'll understand the way things work, as you get older... You lose friends, you get wrinkly, and old, and tired."

She paused, and took a sip of her beer, he took it away from her, after her large gulp.

"Your father thinks of me as a doormat, I try so hard to please him, to love him... I think you and Katrina are perfect; I'm not trying to hitch you or anything, but I really like her, and I just want you to see how she's such a good girl for you.. But, you have to put your old ways behind you. She would be good to you, I can feel it."

"Mother, you're drunk." He grumbled, annoyed.

"I may be drunk, but I am right." She said, raising a brow. "And I'm telling all truths here; Yes?" He nodded, and she sat up. "I'm going to bed, goodnight son."

She kissed him on the cheek, then on the forehead, and began to walk to her room, she then paused and turned around. "Think abot wat' I say hmn?" She went in her room, then laid down on the bed.

He quietly sat, until he got up and cleaned the living room. He threw all the empty beer cans away, and folded the beer pong table, he wiped down the counters and the tables, and swept and mopped the floors. He placed everything back in its rightful place, and looked around. After he cleaned, he went into his bedroom and closed the door. He shouldn't feel so disconnected, but he did, and he thought he handled the situation well, like his father would.

Katrina silently snored under his covers, he watched as she peacefully slept on his bed. He took off his shirt, and threw it in the hamper. He cracked his neck and headed for his closet, finding the first pair of under armor shorts that were neatly tucked on the side. He put them on, and crawled into bed with her.

He lowered his lamp light from his clicker, and leaned to the side. He placed his arm around Katrina's waist and she stirred.

"Is everything okay?" She sleepily asked. "Ya." He said quietly, nestling his head on the side of her neck. "Why do you have this effect on me?" She said smiling.

"Wat?" He asked her, smiling wide.

"Why am I so sleepy around you all the time?"

"I dunno, maybe I bore you." He joked, and she softly laughed, and nudged his chest with her elbow. He did a fake wince, and moved closer to her. "Do you wanna know wat' I like?" She turned her head to face him.

"What's that?" She asked, he breathed in, then closed his eyes.

"I like the fact that you accept me for who I am." She smiled, and cupped his chin with her fingers, feeling the small hairs prickling her tips. "Aww, I like that you are a teddy bear with me; And a regular grouchy bear with others."
He groaned, then gave her a small smile, swallowing and making his Adams Apple bobble. He gave her a kiss on her neck, and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist. "Are you ready to work with me doll?" He said in a deep and tired voice.

She nodded her head.

"Yes.. I'm excited boss." She purred, wondering what she got herself into.. He opened his eyes and widened them; Giving her a tiny smirk, that she couldn't see.

"Oh ya?"

"You are Chutik?"

She nodded again and smiled, turning around and giving him a peck on the arm. "Goodnight you handsome Armo." She shyly murmured, he chuckled and tapped her on the bottom hard, she yelped and muffled her giggle on his pillow.

"Goodnight Butterball." He murmured, laughing.

"Hey!" She silently exclaimed, and snuggled closer to him.
