The night that Devlin left his father's house, she hadn't seen him...

She tried calling him on the phone, no answer. She would text him, no answer. Finally when she got through to him he told her: 'He needed to clear his head'.

And hung up on her.

Katrina didn't like that sentence, she heard it too many times from Christopher.

It's winter time, and Katrina realized that she didn't have any jackets, so she headed up to the 'World Market Place.' Hoping to buy a jacket and more items that she needed, she spotted Devlin gathering his belongings, he looked like a mess.. He wasn't shaved, he had on sweats and sandals, and wore a bright blue shirt, that caught her attention to begin with. She was going to approach him until Jasmine ran up to him holding a box full of depends. Devlin seemed happy, laughing about whatever she said... Katrina stopped what she was doing and left, forgetting about the jacket.

She was completely embarrassed.

Leaving his father's house gave her a reality check. She wanted to know why he was doing this to her? After everything that had happened, why leave her now? She was furious with him, if he chose to leave her and her child, he could make that decision. She wasn't going to chase after him either. To her, him crying at his dad's house was nothing but an act.

She was over it.

She decided that Devlin was just a selfish prick that needed to grow up. One minute he tell's her that she was his, and then the next he runs off, leaving her humiliated by his whole family. They all asked her why he left, and she didn't even know what to say to them...

Because she hasn't known him that well... That's why.

"Men are like this; Whenever you girl's are too tough for us we bail, I'm a grown man.. If I had gotten my ex-girl pregnant, I'd still be right there with her gay and all... I'm not a coward." Jared could tell Katrina was thinking too hard about the matter so he tried to soothe her. "Babygirl... You're a good woman, you don't need a man that wears sandals in the winter, that's just a plain 'hell no.' Don't lose hope sweetheart." Jared softly spoke, trying to grab the keys off the counter.

It had been three weeks, and she had been called back in to work by Mr. Seattle.

She didn't want to go.

"He's somewhere hiding out with Jasmine at her place. And they're probably laughing at me throwing roses everywhere and smoking weed... Freaking- Fucking-Dumb-Whores." Katrina huffed and kicked the grass as they were walking to Jared's car.

Jared cracked up. "You're adorable when you curse... And did you just call both of them whores?" He asked, glancing at her. She didn't say anything, he quickly closed his mouth when he saw she was serious.

Jared had never seen Katrina like this, she had been an angry bee; It was a different side of her, he loved it so much, she had spunk, and attitude, a brand new Katrina, that he would like to see more often. She was too nice to people, even to the rude ones, and it pained him to see her be sweet to them, he wished for once that she would be like how she is now... He knew it wasn't healthy though, and he wanted her to be happy and shy again like before.

"I love you dear.. Please don't be upset over this fuckin' loser." He said in a deep voice that Katrina recognized when he was pissed. She looked up at him in shock, and then realized that she needed to stop being so upset. She was being extremely negative around Jared for the couple of weeks they've been together and he was right, she shouldn't let Devlin get to her.

But it hurt...

Jared's father purchased a new car and gave Jared his car back. They had been on the go; Window shopping, then after a day of window shopping, buying what they needed, Jared also searched for jobs, he wanted to get one immediately just in case Katrina quit. He knew she wanted too, and he wanted her to be taken care of before she did. "Okay.. How about after your next doctor's appointment, we go get a slice of pizza, and watch good ole' fashioned TCM." Jared tried to keep her spirits up, but she wasn't in the mood, she wanted to crawl back in her bed and cry.

Her family didn't know about her pregnancy yet.

Katrina couldn't tell them. They deserved an explanation in person, she loved them, even if she had to hear everyone's 'I told you so' she needed it to be done in person.

Tigranui told her that if they got in touch with Devlin they would let her know right away. She didn't call any of them since then, she patiently waited, but this week she was running out of patience.

She opened the car door and slumped inside; Looking around to see if her neighbors were up, it was seven in the morning and cold out side, she shivered and watched as Jared walked around the car huddling his coat. He climbed in after her shivering as well, and turned the car on.

"Let's get some heat in this bitch!" He yelled. They drove past the road that led to Devlin's father's house in silence.

Jared spoke up.

"Have you talked to Tigranui today?"

Katrina moved her lips to the side and sighed.

"Nope."

Jared had a bad feeling about Devlin.

Hearing about the women getting murdered, made him worry about him more than he should. Even though he was pissed off at him, he still worried, and he wanted to give Devlin the paws for it.

The first week; Katrina had been locked in her room crying, then like a squirrel creeping from a tree hole, she came out of her room, and started hanging out with him and Anthony again. They watched the whole season of 'Sick Note;' Both Jared and Katrina loved British sitcoms, Anthony couldn't stand the show's they watched, so sometimes it was just Katrina and Jared. One time when they went out window shopping for strollers, the store clerk had asked if Jared was the father, Jared got it a lot whenever they bought baby supplies together and eventually he said, "Yes." And they would be on their way before they heard more excitement.

And then Katrina would be upset over Devlin again and shut down.

He left her alone when she was grumpy, and Katrina was okay with that. Jared had been there for her since it all happened, he never wanted a break from her.

He wanted her in his life forever.

He wondered if Katrina felt the same way.

He could picture them being old, still playing around hitting each other. He sighed and smiled.
"I might have to be an old man beating Devlin's ass... If he comes around." He could picture it in his head, he had so much fun with them in Catalina, he didn't want anything to end.

"So you know how my dad's accent is deeper than most men from Wales?" He cleared his throat and smiled at her. "He said something so funny yesterday and I almost broke the chair."

Katrina giggled. "What did he say?"

"He said.. 'Blimey, I'm an old fart'. I told you he can't keep up, he was sitting there trying to give Menace a bath and fell asleep."

Jared cracked up.

"And girl; His new girlfriend was over there trying to pick him up!" He laughed louder, driving to the side of the road and correcting himself, laughing some more. He was smacking the steering wheel, and gave out a mischievous grin to her.

Katrina started giggling and looked out the window. "He is too much today." She thought, looking back at him and smiled.

"How come I hardly hear his accent when I talk to him?" Katrina asked, wondering if it was important. "I don't know.. My dad has been like that with everyone in this town, I'm sure he'll warm up to you eventually." He scratched his head and looked at the time. "We're early, so I'm going to head up to the hardware store and get us some paint, and hopefully I have time to call you so you could let me know which brand to buy." Katrina liked that idea and said "Okay." She wanted the room to look beautiful, they had been obsessed with buying furniture for her baby.

Being three weeks pregnant felt weird to her.

At her second checkup, Tigranui and Jared went with her, it was nice that Jared came along. Jessica wanted to come, but Tigranui made her stay home because of what happened to Rahliana.

They explained to her that her baby was a tiny ball.

Exciting as it was, Katrina was livid that Devlin wasn't there for her.

Jared had suggested going back to the other clinic to give Devlin's ex a piece of his mind, but Katrina didn't want any drama.

"Who know's which ex's house, he's hiding at." Katrina bitterly thought.

Before she knew it, they were in front of Danielyan Incorporation.

She heavily sighed and tugged on her black leggings. Ian let her take one week off but the rest; Katrina had to painfully come in and work with Jasmine downstairs, Ian even placed Jasmine's cubicle a few rows behind her, and she still needed the space away from her. Katrina laughed to herself, she felt so stupid treating Jasmine the way she did on Devlin's birthday. "Now look at me..." She didn't want anything to do with them.

The first week she came in, she causally approached her office to find that it had been empty again... One of her coworkers let her know that the woman she had been filling for came back from vacation. She thought Devlin had given her that position, she was wrong and Mr. Seattle was right. When she went downstairs, he was waiting for her grinning from ear to ear.

"Come on, your stuff is in your cubicle." He happily said.

Katrina knew that she needed to stay at the job a little longer until she figured out her next move. She wanted to pack up and leave in an instant, but didn't want to do that to Jared.

"I'm beginning to hate this place." She mumbled, gathering her belongings.

"Hey! Don't worry sweetheart, it'll be okay... Can you please try for me? If something happens to you, I'm not working. I can come in and pick you up, and we can start our movie night early." Jared prayed that her day went well, he wanted some alone time with Anthony.

"I'll try." Katrina muttered, stepping out of his car and into the snow.

She yawned and waved at Jared, he honked the horn smiling at her and slowly drove away. Katrina angrily sighed, she could see Tyrone pacing back and forth through the glass doors. She ran up to the building, the snow felt soft underneath her boots and the air stung her face, she nonchalantly opened the door, shaking the snow off of her jacket. "Hey miss queen! You okay today?" He asked her, checking her key card and badges. She nodded and softly smiled at him, she wanted to know if he heard anything from Devlin. "I haven't seen him today, but the others have..." He whispered, inspecting her purse. "Aye, I have some shit to tell you... For some odd reason Jasmine is in your old office now, because Devlin fired that girl that came back, and; He has a conference call in the meeting room today, so he should be here within the next thirty minutes..." He paused and cautiously looked at her, he could see she was angry. "He's on lunch right now." Tyrone softly spoke, giving her a worried look.

"Oh really? Well then how does he slip past you without you seeing him?" Katrina asked irritated, she was tired of all the lies being told to her. Tyrone thought for a moment. "Fuck it, she ain't no dummy." He heavily sighed and looked down at his walkie talkie. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have lied to you... I seen him earlier."

Katrina wanted to walk back out the door and call Jared.

She was livid.

"His family didn't even let me know that he was alive and well, and here he is going around, acting like nothing happened." She scrunched her face.

She wanted to knock Devlin's teeth in his mouth, and let everyone know he got her pregnant and won't take responsibility.. Or whatever the hell he was doing.

Three weeks was long enough for her to take the hint.

Tyrone had been doing a good job not telling anyone her and Devlin's secret. It started off with him noticing her eating habits and complemented on her weight gain. She gave him a look of discomfort and he knew right away something was up with them two. She told him about Devlin disappearing on her, and he felt bad. Devlin had been telling him not to say anything to her, he made it seem like a break up, and that Katrina was clingy. Devlin's his friend, and his boss, but he wanted some common ground. He didn't want to be caught in the middle, and he didn't like seeing Katrina this upset. "Man I don't like this at all..." He thought to himself watching as Katrina with anger, wiped the snow off of her jacket.

She didn't see anyone else coming in, so she walked to the side where Tyrone stood and sat down on his office chair. Tyrone pulled out a tissue and gave it to her, she didn't know tears were flowing, she quickly wiped her face and put the tissue in her purse.

"I'm sorry.. You're too beautiful to be suffering like this, and you don't deserve it." He told her, folding his arms, and looked around. "Don't try and contact him Katrina, maybe he'll start to worry about you..." He made a popping noise through his mouth.

Katrina could tell he was high.

"Oh, I haven't." She angrily said. Twirling around in the chair. "His family didn't say anything to me, they didn't let me know if he was okay, or if they seen him... His mom even came with me to the clinic and she didn't—You know what? I'm just done." She sighed, then wiped more tears from her face with her hands this time, it was just her and him in the main entrance.

"Didn't you just get dropped off by some dude?"

He questioned her smiling.

Katrina waved her hand at him. "Jared's my best friend." She dismissed, giving him an annoyed look. Tyrone scratched his beard and checked his phone, Devlin texted him and asked if he seen Katrina. "Use him to get him jealous then... Wait... Why do I feel like this is Deja Vu?" He mumbled, he texted him back and told him 'no.' He wanted to see how this was going to turn out. He was bored, and he needed excitement in his life besides music. "Anyways, I know that's my boy and all, but he's messed up for doing you like this." He sighed.

"Shit I feel bad for the poor girl." He thought, aggravated at Devlin.

"Maybe I should call Mr. Roderick and beg for my old job back." She grumbled, Tyrone shook his head. "Then I wouldn't have anyone to talk to... Plus, I'll be the only black person working here."

Katrina giggled. "Boy please... There's Jasmine."
She softly exclaimed at him.

"Yeah.. But; She don't count... She don't know her skin color, she ain't real... And I ain't got her phone number. You keep it one hundred, my bi—." He sang. He abruptly stopped and got serious when Katrina gave him a bewildered look. "Shit, that girl think she yellow with blonde hair." He muttered, swinging his keys in the air. His high began to go down, until Katrina showed up and made him energized. "Wrong skin color!" He screeched, loudly laughing at the ceiling.

She shushed him laughing.

She liked Tyrone, he reminded her of Jared and she was happy to hear him being playful. He told her he started dating his high school crush again, and that made her happy, she didn't like the fact that he lied to her though. Suddenly she had to use the restroom. "I'll see you later Ty." She said softly, getting up and patted his jacket. "See ya around!" He said out loud, putting his headphones back on.

Katrina quickly headed to the bathroom. She had twenty minutes left and she needed to relieve her self, she quickly went in a stall and shut it.

A few minutes went by when she heard someone walk in.

"I know Devlin; I'll just forward them to you, so you see what I'm talking about." Jasmine's voice echoed through the bathroom, she heard heels clicking and stop at the sink, the sound of the water made her urine flow, she sat in silence trying to listen. She could hear Devlin's deep voice mumble through the phone. "Well then today we'll just get those done so that way you don't have to worry about anything." Jasmine purred, Katrina furrowed her brow. "I'll see you upstairs okay?" She softly spoke. Katrina felt rage boiling in her chest, she heard the other girl wash her hands and leave the room. She waited a few extra minutes to give Jasmine time to head to the elevator.

She flushed the toilet and washed her hands.

When she left the bathroom, she looked around to see if Jasmine was still there, she didn't see her, she peeked over at Tyrone who gave her wide eyes. "Good... I hope she heard him." Katrina thought grinning, she continued to walk towards the door to the cubicles, she used her key card to open the door. Everyone was busy discussing their tasks, some people glanced at Katrina and began whispering. "I hate this." She miserably thought, quickly heading to her cubicle. Mr. Seattle came out of his office, giving Katrina a smile and headed towards her, Katrina was surprised to see him wearing a suit, he trimmed his beard and his hair was cut. He looked handsome today, he used to look shaggy, but something has changed in his life to make him appear more appropriate, her coworkers suspected a new woman in his life, but none could prove it. She heard barking in his office, he had been bringing his dog to work with him also, which made the maintenance team work extra hours cleaning after the mess.

"There's someone here to see you." He said, giving her a smile.

Her chest sunk, she hoped it was Devlin so that she can slap him on the face. But then diminished that thought, because she also missed him, she hated herself for feeling so vulnerable.

A tall man slowly stepped out of Mr. Seattle's office.

It was the man from the night that her and Devlin went to that restaurant.

The man with the scars.

He had on a black suit, he looked different from the night she saw him, his handsome face frozen with embarrassment, trying to move his head so she could see his good side. His hair was neat, and she noticed he had a D&D pin on his jacket, she didn't play the game, but Christopher did, and it reminded her of all the good times that she had with him.

He gave her a shy smile.

"This is a good friend of mine... Hunter... He told me you helped him out a few weeks ago, he wanted to stop by here and say hello before he heads up to the meeting." Ian exclaimed, grinning at her.

"I could've said all of that myself Ian..." The man softly mumbled at him, quickly glancing at Katrina, and then looked down and blushed. "Hello again." He said, looking down at his hands.

She folded her hands together, and watched as the man placed his hands on the back of his neck and shyly looked around. She didn't know what Ian was up to, but she figured he probably thought that her and Devlin had a fall out and was trying to hook her up. She gave out an awkward smile, which made her question what exactly was Jasmine doing up there?

"Well anyways, we are having a conference call upstairs, and I am supposed to bring one person with me from our office, so I'm bringing you for training.."

"It's unfortunate that I am the lucky one to be picked today." She thought to herself. "Hello Hunter, it's nice to see you again." She softly said, she placed her hand out for him to shake. He slowly shook it, giving her a soft smile, his green eyes sparkled at how polite she was with him. "Come on, we're going to be late." Ian said in a rush, running in and out of his office with his work bag and badges. They proceeded to the door, when Ian was stopped by one of her coworkers and he urged
