Katrina and Devlin arrived on time at the airport.

While they were waiting, he was mostly on his phone calling his colleagues and friends.

Katrina pulled out her nook from her carry on. The plane is running late, and a couple across from her were arguing.

"I packed your underwear last night, I don't know how it just disappears?"

The woman rolled her eyes and kept bickering.

"Obviously, if you packed my underwear, it would be in the bag Joshua!" Katrina looked around the airport. People were in hushed conversations, and it seemed like the food stores were running slow.

She wanted a scone, she hasn't had one since she was a little girl. She softly patted Devlin on the shoulders, and he just stared down at her. "I'm going to grab a scone." He nodded and went back to speaking with his assistant.

"And if I wanted you to come with me.. I would have asked you... Stop irritating me, or I will drive you back home!"

"It is too early for them to be arguing like this.."

Katrina got up, and pulled her sweater down. It was navy blue, it matched her ripped jeans and black flats. Today she wore a silver neckless, with pink floral pennants all in a line, the lotus flower was beautifully placed in the middle.

As she was heading to the cafe, the couple got louder. "I bet you screw around with your clients! This is why I am coming with you on this trip; I don't believe you at all!" She looked back at the couple.

They were in their twenties. The guy had black hair and a thin face. His nose was pointy, and his eyes were the color of the sea, blue with a hint of green. He was lean and tall, and he too, had on a navy blue sweater with blue jeans. "What a coincidence that we're matching."

His girlfriend's eyes were blue as well, and she had platinum blonde hair. She was thin, and her legs were like Katrina's; Lean, and short. The girl had on a pair of Louis Vuitton pumps, and she wore a glittery tight dress.

"What are you looking at?"

Katrina turned her head back to the cafe. "Rude." She sneered to herself, but peeped back, once more and caught a pair of blue eyes focused on her. "So she wasn't talking to me.. phew." The guy was fixated on her butt, more than her actual face.

She rolled her eyes.

"Men.."

The blonde turned to see what her husband was staring at and instantly became pissed. "Why the fuck are you looking at her Josh?" Her boyfriend slowly turned his head at her. "Because... She's hot as hell, and we're matching."

Katrina sat down at the cafe and ordered a small coke, and a blueberry scone. She turned around to see Devlin staring at her, he was still on the phone, but he winked and she smiled.

The couple began to get louder, and then the flight attendant finally spoke up. "Flight 118, to Catalina is boarding in a couple of minutes."

Everyone got up to get in line, she grabbed her food and drink and headed over to Devlin. Her purse and carry on was already in his hands, they ended up standing behind the couple. "I'm getting ready to board, I'll let you know later ya?" Devlin murmured.

The blonde turned around and her eyes sparkled at Devlin, and she sucked in a breath. Then she stared down at Katrina, and her face fell. Devlin saw that, and wrapped his arms tightly around her, when he was off the phone she heard the blonde sigh.

The line was moving agonizingly slow.

"Sorry beautiful, my assistant is being difficult.. She cannot keep up with my work patterns, only my father's, and.. It's irritating me.. She has to know it's me from now on."

Katrina gripped his waist. "It's okay." And she thanked him for carrying her things.

She took a bite of her scone. "What is dat?" Devlin excitedly asked her, the guy turned around and then did a once over at Katrina, and turned his head towards his girlfriend. The blonde gave her man a dirty look, and decided to interrupt them.

"I like your accent, where are you from?"

Devlin just stared at her, and then spoke as if he was forced to. "I'm Armo." Her voice got louder. "I like your people! You guy's have great bread!"

Devlin was confused, then glanced at her boyfriend who didn't turn around. "Okay." Devlin slowly said and sneered at her.

"I'm Jenny, we're on our way to Catalina..." She was eye raping him.

Devlin didn't know why the bimbo was talking to him, he completely ignored her..

"Can I have a bite?" He was staring at the scone like it was ice cream. Katrina felt warm inside, Devlin can be cruel to others, she noted to herself, but only nice to people he's close with, and she seemed to like that about him.

"Sure, it has real blueberry's in it, you might like it."He took a bite from her hand, and slowly chewed. His deep voice hummed. "It's soft." He purred, the blonde just watched them, and then whispered to herself turning around.

Her boyfriend laughed. "You done trying to be a home wrecker?" Devlin didn't pay no mind to them, But Katrina couldn't help but listen.

"I was only being nice... Besides, there has to be someone other than you to talk to." She crossed her hands, the line sped up, and they were finally at the front. The flight attendant smiled, but soon frowned once she seen Devlin.

The man next to her were taking their tickets, as he was doing so, the woman mumbled something low at them. "You?" She narrowed her eyes.

"I've seen you before." She pointed her knuckle at Devlin.

"It was all over the news.. Man; Cannot remember what it was, but.. I can't forget a face like that... Especially your face."

Devlin was annoyed. "Could you just take our tickets ma'am?"

The lady had embarrassment on her face all of a sudden. She thought she wasn't being rude, just curious.

She took a ticket and Tsk'd at Katrina. "Watch out for guys like him... Seems like a player." She whispered.

Devlin forced the ticket on her, and he grabbed Katrina's hand, and walked away fast. Once inside and seated, Katrina had to pee, she was truly blessed that Devlin gave her the seat near the walkway... She was always on planes, and most of those times, she had the window seat.

This time, she wanted to give that to Devlin... She excused herself, and grabbed her phone. It was becoming a habit, using the bathroom with her phone.

She knew the line was long behind them, so, she had a little time to let it out, before they took off. In the bathroom, she quickly texted Jared to let him know they were boarded.

Getting back to her seat, she noticed people looked disgruntled, she smelled something terrible on her right, and saw a mother cleaning a small toddler.

She knew the flight was going to take three hours, so the best way to get through it was to stay focused.

"I hate planes."

It wasn't because of the tragedies you hear or about them crashing. It was simply because she couldn't stand sitting with people that invaded your personal space.

Every time she was on a plane, someone found a way to bother her. Sometimes she would take books, and sometimes she would listen to her music.

Music... That's what she needed, but she had Devlin.

When she sat down, she noticed Devlin had already brought out a book. "Very nice." She thought, he was reading: 'The power of your subconscious mind.' She's heard of it, but never got a chance to read it.

"Is that book good?" She asked, he looked up and placed his holder neatly inside of his book. "He even has a book holder." She happily thought.

"It's helped me so far."

He smiled at her, and took her hand and squeezed it, getting back to what he was doing. She sighed, and laid her head back on the seat. It was just one of those days she didn't feel like reading. She had to think about her family.

"What if my mother embarrasses me?"

Her mother loved to get under her skin about boys, even though she has never given her the talk or helped. It soon took Katrina's father, and mostly Melanie to help her out with that.

She wondered what Helen was doing right now, she wanted to be the best sister she could be for her, this was her sister's childhood still. And she wanted her to have it good, because she never did.

Catalina was indeed in fact, freezing.

When they left the airport and headed outside, the cold wind, mixed in with snow, ricocheted them in the face.
It was so cold out, her bags felt like a part of her hand. She was used to it, Devlin on the other hand was not.

"Is it always this cold doll?" He screeched, she laughed. "Yes... The winter is worse, you're lucky it's not winter yet." He shook off the snow on his boots, and lifted his belongings. The valet attendant finally came around with the car, and they gracefully got in, but it took them a few moments to settle in.

"Fuck.. I need a minute." Devlin said, blowing out cold air, his eyes widened.

"It's so cold, dat there is cold air in the car!" He rubbed his hands together, and put the car in park. It wasn't hard getting a rental, Devlin rented a beautiful BMW family car, with black ridges and tinted windows.

She preferred the infinity, but stilled the thought because she realized a fast car in snow, wouldn't be good at all.

"Where too?" He asked her, his lips resting low. "Take maple street down to court way. Once you reach court way, you make a right; We'll be passing a lot of grocery stores and buildings by then, we head farther in to downtown, which is called 'Norway', and the rest.. Is easier from there." She sucked in a breath fast.

She didn't want to be anywhere near Norway. "When you see a huge sign, you'll know that we are in Norway, if you can.. Quickly drive through it please."

Devlin glanced at her, and then nodded his head. He turned on the car, they waited a few minutes before it heated up, and they were on the go.

Looking around at the familiar places weirded her out, she used to hang around them all the time, but they were only memories.. It seemed like she was driving through a dead city, well.. A dead city to her.

They stopped for coffee and Devlin filled the tank. Katrina wanted to tell him he didn't need to put sixty in the car, because they weren't far away. They were pretty close to Norway, she just wanted to pass downtown already, she felt like it was the devil.

When they got in the car again, there was a small group of girls, they weren't wearing any jackets, but t-shirts and jeans, and some had on sandals and heels. "Are they fucking crazy right now?" Devlin bewilderedly asked.

"The fuck?..." He stared on, as they made their way to the local bars. "I used to be like them." She said softly, he then looked at her like she was crazy. "Living in a cold city turns you cold... You don't know the saying?" He shook his head.

"Living here long, you get used to it. I used to do it for a while, until I started working and my boss had cold air blasting in the shop, so I stopped." He pursed his lips. "Khelagar." He whispered, clearing his throat.

"What does that mean?" She laughed, he grunted. "It means crazy." He said very low. She smiled and gave him a humble look. "You haven't seen crazy yet my friend..."

"No where near it."

"You haven't seen my family."

She looked upon the people rushing into the stores, and began feeling sleepy, so she sipped on her coffee. Then she saw the sign that stated in bold and rusted letters: 'Norway.' It felt like there was a lump in her heart, she didn't like the feeling and quickly turned to Devlin. As if reading her mind, he sped up.

He looked around the part of the city that she hated. She was right about Norway, it looked exactly like a city of the dead. It was a chilly feeling, directing towards the tall buildings, they were terrifyingly beautiful.

The gray and brown sky made the bars stick out, he noticed that there were bars everywhere, he took in the smell of burnt rubber. He heard her softly sigh, and he placed his hand on her leg. "It's going to be okay babe." He softly murmured, and pinched her leg. He knew something was up with her, and wanted to cheer her up.

She fell into a calmness that grasped her heart. Devlin needed to do that more often. They quickly passed Norway, and reached a street that looked like the end of the road. He took a right and went straight down. He didn't even notice the mass of buildings straight ahead. A sign came up before him.

'North Catalina.'

Katrina did a sigh of relief, and adjusted in her seat. "It's like going through hell." He whispered laughing. "That was some scary shit doll." He lightly joked.

She giggled. "It wasn't scary when I was six years old, that used to be the place we wanted to go; To get away from everything and relax." He swallowed and looked up at the sky.

"Look at that... The sky is pink and grey now, it's like we entered a new segment." He mumbled, she nodded.

It was always like that.

When they were deep in her city part, she was all of a sudden giddy. And pointed out the places she used to be in.

"That's where I used to work at! It still looks the same!" She saw the small pizzeria her ex boyfriend used to take her to, and stayed quiet on that one. She then looked across the street, and seen the modern apartments and quickly glowed. "That's where I used to live.."

He chuckled and drove on.

"Okay, make a left here and when you see a street light that say's Catalina Bay, take the first right." He did as he was told, and they were right smack in her sister's suburban neighborhood.

"My sister chose to live over here because she said it reminds her of summer." He smiled and looked around. His first time in a city with Katrina, he didn't even know being in one like this, would ever be a possibility, he's been to plenty of city's with his father, but they were small, and weren't a big deal like this one.

"Okay, there is empty parking spaces over there, we can get out and walk from here." He noticed the snow had slowed down. When they gathered their things and got out of the car, the cold still lingered in the air. She called her sister, and she picked up on the third ring. "Hello?"

"Melanie, I'm outside!"

Her sister uncontrollably screamed. "What in lords green earth? You're here? Helen didn't say anything about you comin?" Although her sister married an hispanic man, she still had her blackness in her.

"I'm hurrying Kat! I'm opening the door for you!" She clicked off, Katrina nervously sighed.

Since Helen didn't explain to Melanie that she was bringing along two guests, she hoped her sister wouldn't be mad at her. She figured that house must be a mad one; With her mother, and her mother's boyfriend, along with her two daughters, her husband and their little sister.

She glanced at the quiet figure standing next to her, Devlin was grinning.

"What?" She slowly said, smiling at him.

He nodded his head.

"Nothing doll... Come on let's go see the fam."

Her sister lived in colorful homes, which is rare in Catalina, not all homes were colored, mostly beige. They were medium sized family homes, with large back yards, remembering when she helped her sister move in. They reached her sister's oddly colored house, she paused, and stared up at the house. "Was the house, always green?"

Her sister bolted out of the door, her little daughter running after her. "Mamma! I wanna see tt!" Her sister quickly ran up to Katrina, and picked her up, swinging her around like she was a rag doll.

"I've missed you so much, my sweet, light chocolate butter ball!"

Katrina reddened in the face... She had forgotten all about that good ole nick name...

'Butterball' That's what they teased her about, since she was the second lightest to her family, her father being the first. Her sister put her down, and seen that Katrina had brung a guest, so she covered her arms and grinned.

"And who is this, knight and shining prince, next to my butterball?" Katrina sagged with embarrassment; No.. "She called him, a knight and shining prince." "This is Devlin.. Devlin; This is my quirky, and beautiful sister Melanie." Devlin held out his hand, she shook it; But then swatted his hand, and gave him a bear hug, he had his breath knocked out of him.

Her sister wasn't over weight but had a few pounds to her, to Katrina; She never cared, her sister was always beautiful in her eyes.

"Come on in, you too!" She picked up her daughter, and Katrina smiled, and gave little Mika a hug.

"Hi little one." The child's face lightened up; Her chubby cheeks showed perfect dimples, as her long brown hair, hung loose on her face. "Hi TT!" They all headed inside the house.

Katrina noticed that it smelled like, they had just finished cooking. The house was spotless, and everything seemed comfortable.

"When did you paint the house?" Her sister stared back at her confused. "You mean the living room? Girl; We did that last week.." Katrina giggled.

"No silly, I meant the outside of the house... It looks like green doo-doo." Devlin widely smirked at her, and she playfully poked him. He let out a tiny snort only she could hear.

Good thing her sister wasn't paying attention. "Well now that.. Wasn't my idea, ask Angel; He wanted that color so badly." She sat down, and gestured for them to set their belongings on the kitchen floor.

Devlin didn't feel uncomfortable at all, he felt oddly relaxed and happy. Her family gave off a positive vibe, he could see where Katrina's energy came from. Katrina and Devlin sat next to each other at the dining room table. All of a sudden; She felt exhausted, she stared around in awe, their home hasn't changed, one bit. The large kitchen, had black cabinets, that matched the black tile on the floor.

Her sister owned a classy dining room table, and the living room had a long black sofa, with little dressers on each side. The flat screen that was once on a black T.V stand, was mounted directly in the middle of the wall.

She did see a bunch of corona's neatly stacked near the refrigerator, and her sister stared where Katrina's eyes held. "For Angel.. Every time he gets off of work... It's our favorite beer." Katrina smiled at her.

"Where's everyone else?"

Her sister cracked her neck and then folded her legs. "Angel is at work, Yessica is in pre-school, and Helen is at school.. Oh.. And.. Mother went gambling with her annoying boyfriend."

She rolled her eyes. "She lied and told me she was going to walk around in the park.. You know mom."There was a sharp silence in the room, and then Melanie got up. "How long are you going to be here for? I hope for four weeks like last time!" Katrina grinned. "Oh no.. That's way too long."

"Well, I'm glad you're visiting.. All Helen talks about is you." Her sister began to braid Mika's hair, but Mika retaliated, and ran to her room. "She never lets me do anything with that hair." Katrina laughed, knowing that Melanie never let her father do her hair either.

"I know you guys had a long flight and all, so head upstairs, and place your thing-a-ma-bobs in the spare bedroom.. I have to prepare dinner."

Katrina smirked. "It already smells like you cooked dinner?" Her sister laughed. "You know me.. I get's down in the kitchen." Her sister chuckled, and headed for the refrigerator.

Katrina nodded towards the upstairs, and Devlin nodded back,
